I understand the property is vintage and dated, but I really think it should be either fully renovated or torn down. The location is great for a beach lover although at the time of our rental there were huge pipes covering the beach frontage. Many of the windows are missing screens and several sliders would not open. The electrical system seemed dangerous as there are all sorts of extension cords leading from plugs all over master bedroom to main part of house. One bathroom and master had intermittent power and several lights would blink even if off. We were supposed to stay 4 nights but only stayed 1. The property manager was very responsive and secured another home for us and did provide some compensation. However, the new home was not on the beach which took away from our experience. Bottom line, this property is not worth the expense and very, very dumpy.

Perfect beach house property for us. We could see the ocean from the bedroom with a nice deck. The private beach access was exactly what we had hoped for and our dog loved heading to the beach!

Beautiful house right on the beach. Well stocked , clean, and cozy beds. Was just a short stay for a funeral unfortunately, but was nice to watch football and relax and listen to the waves.

Hidden older gem

We really enjoyed our first time visiting Hilton Head Island and this older home was a hidden gem surrounded by beautiful beach houses some still being constructed. If you enjoy older homes would definitely recommend place. The views and beach were beautiful and there was shopping and restaurants within fifteen minutes walking distance. The only drawback was the traffic mainly getting there on Saturday but that should be expected. We loved our stay there.

Another wonderful week at Sandpiper

This is our second time to stay at Sandpiper. We have been to HHI many times, and this is one of our favorite houses. We had a group of 7, and the home fit us perfectly. The 3 kids loved having the downstairs to themselves! The upstairs is roomy and feels like a beach cottage. The screened in porch is the perfect place to relax. It has great beach access and the beach area is not too crowded. We enjoyed are stay and would recommend this cozy house!

Exactly What We Needed!

This house and location was PERFECT for our vacation. We enjoyed grilling out a few evenings in the privacy of the spacious back yard. It is conveniently located close to everything, but just outside of the congested areas. The beach was almost like having our on private section. We will definitely rent it again. I included a picture of our morning view from the porch where we drank coffee everyday and enjoyed the sounds of the waves crashing at high tide.

Great Location but Needs Work

We had a great time during our week in Hilton Head! Ours was a family vacation with 6 adults and 2 young children ages 3 and 5. The location was awesome - direct beach access, very nice neighborhood, quiet area, and within a 15 min walking distance to shops and restaurants in Coligny Plaza – couldn’t have been better! We found the house clean with comfortable beds, plenty of towels and amenities such as soap, shampoo and laundry detergents as well as equipped with some family games and beach items. The kitchen was well-stocked with good dishes, utensils, pots/pans and appliances all in working order. The bedrooms were spacious and we enjoyed sitting on the screened patio taking in the ocean view. The house, itself, was a disappointment. We expected the property would be old based on the description, however, the condition of the property was not up to par for the price point. The condition of the house is very worn. With the exception of the master bathroom, all the other bedroom/bathrooms look to be original. There was an overall impression of minimal exterior maintenance. Dead overgrown vegetation clinging to the balcony and a front door in need of new paint and/or a good scrub. Bug webs and/or cocoons were all around the outside entry way and at least one wasp nest on the garage door. The backyard grass area was trimmed but was overrun with prickly weeds and ants everywhere which prevented us from enjoying this great space.

A Great Find in HH

We loved this house and it is so comfortable for a group of people. There is direct access to the beach, and a great backyard to relax and enjoy your group. Every couple had a bathroom with privacy, and it is dog friendly! We will revisit.

Old School Beach House Perfection!

We had a fantastic stay! The online details and reviews left us with no surprises. Our fur babies loved the room and the beach. The sand burrs you read about were definitely there - but our puppies learned to just come over to us if they had one and we’d get it out quickly. It wasn’t a huge deal at all! The home is older, so we know hiccups can come with that. We actually arrived to find the split unit had fallen off the house and wasn’t working. Now, middle of the summer may have made that a really tough stay - but it was cooler and how it was dealt with made all the difference. The Avant Stay contacts we had for the property were on it and so wonderful about their interaction with us. Ruben was the absolute best! Our family had a fantastic Thanksgiving! The house has a really awesome layout for family and friends, dinners and games. And who doesn’t love waking up and seeing the ocean. If you’re looking for a relaxing, laid back, unpretentious time - this house is definitely worth a consideration!

Really enjoyed our stay

Ideal location. Quiet area of the beach just steps from back door. .6 miles to all the shops and eateries at Coligny and golf is everywhere! Rode our bikes everywhere on the bike trails. 7 of us stayed very comfortably for the week. Comfortable beds and although not the newest or fanciest house, has lot of character and everything was very clean. Screened porch was nice and kitchen well stocked w/ everything you need to cook efficiently. Nice grill as well as well as games, puzzles, beach chairs, cooler, etc, provided! Will definitely stay again.

Really nice place... watch out for the sandburs!

Overall, the property was fantastic for our group. We really enjoyed the dog-friendly home, and the space was great. The kitchen is a little tight, but we knew that from the pictures posted online (not a gripe... just a fact). We booked the property for the direct beach access, which didn't disappoint. it was amazing! We also booked it due to the lawn area to allow our 2 mini-doodles to roam. Unfortunately, there were sandburs all over the yard. To be fair, there were signs posted at the doors indicating to wear shoes to avoid the burs in the grass. However, with this advertised as a dog-friendly property, the lawn really needs to be dog-friendly. We ended up carrying our dogs across the lawn to the beach by the end of the week to avoid getting burrs in their paws... and I took them across the street to potty each day so they didn't get burrs in their paws. I've done some quick online research, and there appears to be numerous herbicide options to minimize/eradicate these burrs. For the price of the rental, I'd recommend the owners either pay for the lawn service or just get new sod to put down. Again, overall this was a great week for our family!

A Simple Place for A Getaway

Overall, this was a nice getaway for my entire, small family. The beach lookout is gorgeous and how lovely it was to just go out and walk to the beach within seconds. The home we stayed at was overall clean. One can tell it’s not a modernized building and was aged; however, it was a place that we all enjoyed staying at and had no issues whatsoever.

👎 Beware of This Nightmare Stay!

My recent experience with this VRBO rental was nothing short of a disaster. I had booked what was supposed to be a relaxing week-long stay, but it turned out to be a nightmare that lasted less than 24 hours. First and foremost, the charges were exorbitant and absolutely not reflective of the appalling conditions of the property. The advertised price was nothing short of a bait-and-switch tactic, leaving me feeling completely ripped off. Upon arrival, the state of the house was utterly shocking. It was far from the "clean and cozy" promise that was made in the listing. The place was filthy, and it was evident that it hadn't been properly cleaned in a long time. To make matters worse, I was greeted by an unwelcome infestation of roaches and bugs that were clearly thriving in the unsanitary environment. Disgusted and completely uncomfortable, I immediately contacted the property management to express my concerns and request a refund. To my astonishment, their response was utterly dismissive. Not only did they refuse to address the cleanliness and pest issues, but they also flat-out denied my request for a reasonable refund. $7,500 down the drain for less than 24hrs. I would strongly advise anyone considering this rental to RUN in the opposite direction. This experience has left me feeling scammed, frustrated, and deeply disappointed in VRBO's oversight of its hosts. Save yourself the headache and heartache – look elsewhere for a rental that actually lives up to its promises.

Great stay for a slightly-more-affordable property on HHI

Our family (four kids, ages 11, 10, 6, & 4) had a great time during our three nights in Hilton Head. Wish we could have stayed longer! The immediate private access to the beach was definitely a highlight. Nice back yard for the dog and to hang out. Property provided house & yard games and ample seating for our family, as well as beach toys & items (our older kids loved the boogie boards!). Having four bathrooms was nice. The house is a bit dated and has a strange layout, but it didn’t bother us and we weren’t there to hang out much inside anyway. They have made several nice upgrades to some areas. AC worked great, outside shower was clutch. Seems it would be a nice property any season and was family-friendly. Would definitely go back!
