My husband, adult children, their spouses, and my grandchildren had a much anticipated Labor Day vacation at the Pink Door Farmhouse. The house was lovely, clean, and comfortable. It easily accommodated my family of 9 adults, 3 children, and an infant with the 4 bedrooms, a portacrib, and 2 air mattresses. The large kitchen and dining room were great. The road traffic was a bit loud but we still spent a lot of time relaxing on the front porch swings and rocking chairs. The beds were really comfy and the 3 bathrooms were plenty for our crew to bathe and get ready for the day. The extra amenities like shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, coffee, hot chocolate, s’mores supplies, laundry and dishwasher detergents, hand soap, toilet paper and paper towels, trash bags, toys and books for the kids, corn hole game for the adults, and even a lovely scented candle were much appreciated by all. We took advantage of the near by river to trout fish, kayak, and swim with some mallards ducks. We got a visit from a bear one night who went scavaging in the trash can. We also saw one coming up the driveway and it ducked into the woods before it reached the front yard. It was thrilling and also a bit scary to see a bear that close to the house in the daylight but those kind of encounters are known to happen in the mountains. We had such a lovely vacation and it was great to all be able to stay under the same roof for a change. We were all sorry to have to leave and wished that our vacation wasn’t over yet. We would all be happy to stay here again.
