The room was simple, but spacious enough for the 4 of us. Definitely old school, but clean & had the most excellent location since we were there to ride the”Polar Express” and this place is 10 steps away from the train station! Walking distance to all the shops on Main Street too, so while we had a rental car, we still walked everywhere. It was great.

Very nice front desk clerks. The hotel itself is very well situated downtown but it's pretty basic and functional otherwise. Uninspiring grab and go breakfast but also right near a great bagel breakfast place.

Room smells like a typical 80 year old room that was smoked in for the first 40 years. The mattress was old and saggy. I turned on the heater, set to 68 and it never turned off, got up to 79 degrees. The cool function didn’t work, had to leave the unit off all night. Breakfast was not much more than a granola bar and a fruit.

After being gone all day we were not allowed in our room or near the hotel due to an armed person barricading himself in a room. Police were there 4 hours and sent us away. No help on where we should go. It was cold out and we needed rest rooms. We could not get to our car and were basically left stranded for hours.

The air conditioning was not working during our stay. I addressed this with the front desk staff. They offered me a fan and told me the manager would be in the following day. When I asked the next morning, the (new) front desk associate said the manager was away for several days. She did reach out to him. She Provo us his suggestions of a fan, opening the window or moving upstairs and have the window open on the balcony so we would feel safer. We did not feel like having the window open at night on the first level would be safe. And we really didn’t want to move all our belongings so we stayed in the original unit. The rate we paid was presuming we had a unit with everything working. I don’t feel management rectified the situation in a suitable manner.
