There was nothing sweet about this King suite. The building is cool. The atmosphere is cool. I travel all the time. When I see King suite the first thing that comes to mind is space. This suite is smaller than my bedroom at home. Check in was as easy as showing an id and getting my room key. Checkout was nothing more than handing my keys back. That is my only interaction with staff. They seemed indifferent to our presence. This was booked for a special night away for my wife and I and I was pretty disappointed when I opened the door and saw the room. The bathroom was small but looked clean. We didn't use the shower. The room safe works but anyone that pushes 000000 can access the contents of the safe. I learned this when the code didn't work and I couldn't get my items out. The room we were given was on the exterior wall of the building next to a parking garage. We listened to car alarms going off all night. Their blackout curtains work if you remembered to bring something to clip them together with because they're not installed on the curtain rod correctly. I chose this hotel because it had 8/10 rating. I can only assume the people leaving those high reviews were comp'd rooms or are friends with the owner. We made the best out of it and still enjoyed our trip but I would not recommend this place to anyone. I really hoped to leave a good review but I'm just not able to.

The room didn't have air conditioning. The place didn't feel safe since we arrived. We called the desk on the phone, but no one answered. We had to go down to the lobby at 3 a.m. to report that the air conditioning wasn't working. They told us they couldn't change our room and that they would give us a fan. When the maintenance guy came up to check the air conditioning, he was rude and told us the air conditioning was old and wouldn't cool us. The room was about 80 degrees. I don't recommend it. The worst experience I've ever had.

It was a fun experience. Very like a hostel in Europe. I had my elderly mother and my teen daughter with me, so we booked a private quad. The a/c wasn't super high powered but it was almost comfortable. The beds were fairly comfortable, but the outlets didn't all work and the curtains were stained. But the bedding was clean. We didn't use the shower but the bathroom was clean. The elevators were slow but everyone was

My stay at Freehand Chicago was better than expected! For the price of a queen bedroom, I wasn’t expecting much quality, I expected a room I can safely sleep in, and that’s what I got. It was definitely a small living space, and it has its ups and downs. The bed was comfortable, the room was tidy, and it felt secure. The downsides were the curtains and mattress were stained, the sink leaked, the fan in the bathroom did not work, and the shower seemed to have mold. The property itself is in an amazing location with many shopping centers and food within 20 minute walk. Parking was a not even a block away, but it was $50 a night which was a little pricey. The gym was quite small, with dumbbells that go to 50lbs, 2 peleton bikes, and a treadmill. They don’t have an ice machine, but you can go to the bar and they will give a bucket of ice for free. Overall good experience with decent quality, and for the price, the location is unbeatable!

Staff and service is great…… but as for the property they need to make some changes! The rooms are way to small for 4 person dormitory, it’s no space to breathe or really move around let alone for your stuff. A normal 4 person dormitory in universities are bigger than that. The AC units do not work that well, they have a lot of dust on them so clearly they need to be cleaned. As for the bathrooms they have vents on the walls i guess for the steam from the shower to escape but it don’t so it makes it worse for the room once u open the bathroom door. The shower for sure needs to be changed because you can tell the shower curtains have not been cleaned properly or changed and that’s bad because some of them have black mold spots.

Older building, but otherwise decent

It’s definitely an older building, but it served its purpose for what we needed. Staff was friendly and efficient, and despite being in the room right next to the elevator it wasn’t too noisy. The cleanliness could have been improved slightly but wasn’t poor by any means. Overall a decent place to spend a night or two
