Property run down and the rooms need updated. Previous reviews mentioned crime with drug issues such as needles left in rooms. Our room was clean with no drug paraphernalia left behind. Probably better deals out there.

The hotel is run down and outdated. We were on the second floor, so we did not get to have a room with a porch by the river. We were in a non-smoking room, but right outside our door was an ash tray, and staff had been there smoking so there were fresh cigarettes and a nasty smell. The beds were outdated and old. In our room, the bathroom door was all scratched up like a dog had been locked in the bathroom. The hotel is in a very nice location. If some renovation work was done on the hotel and smoking was not allowed in the non-smoking areas it could be a very nice property to visit. The image of the hotel that is posted is misleading - it is not as nice as shown in the photo. The swimming pool was also in a state of disrepair, was closed, and is unusable. It should not be listed as an amenity as it has obviously been out of commission for a long time.

Great place, quiet location, good people.

I had a King room with a nice little porch looking out over the river. For my purposes, this location is perfect - quiet and relatively natural environment that is still roadside and able to get to a large number of hiking trails and towns all within 15 minutes. The front desk was warm and welcoming - the guy there is chill in a friendly way.

The property is very rundown but was decently clean. It had stains in the tub and awful wear and tear but it was kept clean ( for being so outdated.) 5 mins from Cherokee and 5 mins from Bryson city.

Wi-Fi was very weak, hard to sign into. No coffee in room. 5 cup pot with a one cup coffee pack.

Where do I begin- this was the WORST overnight experience weā€™ve ever had. The rooms were beyond dirty- they left dishes with food on them in the sink. The stove had residue down the side, cabinets had mold in the back, under the sink was a patched up hole where bugs/rodents could enter. The beds were worn out, springs in the mattresses poked through- these should have been replaced years ago. The carpet was nasty- walked across and my socks were black from the dirt. The furniture was peeling and banged up- behind the tv stand was another patched up hole that allowed outside pests in. The bathroom was not clean, the shower hot water burned us- even adjusted it went from cold to hot with no control. The door into the unit was not sealed correctly and insects/bugs came in- also there was a piece of wood nailed to the door to cover a hole. We reached out to the staff to advise of the issues and how uncomfortable we were which was a complete waste of time. They simply let us know that they were a ā€œmom and popā€ establishment and I guess in their opinion that should excuse the fact this place is run down and not suitable for guests period. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone- itā€™s not sanitary and needs completely renovated. This experience ruined our trip and the lack of understanding/compassion from the staff was unacceptable.

What a great little motel! We enjoyed the porch by the river & felt right at home in our room. The hot water is HOT, so be mindful of that. We would definitely come back!

We decided not to stay and just lose our money. The grass was knee high, the wastebasket inside the room had trash in it. The bathroom was not clean to what I would expect. Hair in sink. No mattress pad on bed. Not that we would have used the pool, but it was not clean, and the water was green. All in all, just didn't feel comfortable or safe. Our dog was very unsettled and stressed in the room. I understand that this was a dated inn and that is fine but based on the reasons listed. We did not stay.
