Location was very good. Fenced in yard was a plus for pets. Kitchen was well equipped. Appliances worked fine. Outside could use some attention - power wash deck and siding maybe? More info in the instruction notes to include recycle process and what to do with bedding and linens upon departure.

This was our fifth stay at Merry Mermaid Cottage in six years. The cottage and its location in St. Marys are both fabulous, so much so that we've made it an annual getaway. Barbara (the owner) is exceptional at communication and accommodation. The cottage couldn't be better, just perfect for our needs and accessorized with anything you might need. Then there's nearby Cumberland Island National Seashore, a paradise just 45 minutes away by ferry. Thanks, Barbara, for another fantastic visit!

Host was nice and accommodating. Cottage was decorated with a lot of fun. As with some VRBOs that are well used, this one is in need of several repairs and deep cleaning. Upholstery, rugs, dishes, shower , windows, . Broken blinds and toilet issues. Really creaky bed but comfort. A suprise lizard under the comforter - no kidding. I’m sure that doesn’t happen often. The owner needs to take a week to repair and reset the place. It is really close to town, good walking, quiet and friendly . Lots of towels and pillows.

Enjoyed our stay in St. Marys. The cottage was quite comfortable - no problems at all. St. Marys is a lovely little walkable town. Our dog enjoyed it perhaps even more than we did and is now complaining that we don't take her on as many walks.

We absolutely loved our stay! The cottage was so quaint and cozy! It had everything we needed! While dog-friendly, it was still very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and the fenced in yard was great. The location was perfect. We loved walking downtown to the river and for breakfast/dinner. We will be back!

Clean, spacious, quiet. Great back deck and yard. Well stocked kitchen and bath. Area information provided. Very convenient to downtown/waterfront—-walkable or bikeable. We would definitely recommend it and would stay there again.

The Merry Mermaid Cottage is the perfect place for a quick getaway. Its location is great for walking downtown to see the beautiful river view. It is a cozy and comfortable place to kick back and relax. Barbara was good to check in with us to make sure everything was good.

A song should be composed for this delightful cottage.All aspects of our stay were excellent. AC worked wonderfully in high heat and humidity periods. When we thought we needed something we opened a cupboard or closet and there it was. My daily walk was from the cottage to the St Marys waterfront and back.

Returning to childhood

The property is lovely. Perfect for a landing pad while exploring the area. The house is clean, well appointed and was quite relaxing. It is all you need for a weekend get away. We had no problems getting in, directions were spot on and everything was easy to find. St. Mary’s has not changed much in the last 40 years, and I love it even more.

Mermaid cottage

The cottage had a strong smell of cleaning solution. Even when we got home our bags smelled. When we got there the grass was tall leading the the door Fairly clean except the bathroom shower was not maintained. Did not appear clean around the floor and caulking. The shower was very small We don’t feel that it was price appropriate. There also added charges. Would not recommend this place to stay I did not take pictures. I am already home. We left early

Absolutely! Here's a longer version that keeps your tone and adds more detail without sounding too formal:---We had a wonderful stay at the Merry Mermaid Cottage in St. Marys, GA! The location couldn’t have been better—tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but still close to the waterfront, restaurants, and everything we wanted to explore in town. The house itself was comfortable and welcoming, with a cozy vibe that made it easy to settle in and relax. One of the things we loved most was that we could bring our pups along for the trip. Finding pet-friendly places that are truly *pet-friendly* can be tough, but this place nailed it. The fenced-in yard was perfect for them to run and play safely, and they were just as happy to be there as we were.The cottage had everything we needed—comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, and cute beachy decor that added to the charm. That said, we do think the home could use a bit of a refresh. Some areas were showing signs of wear and could benefit from a deeper cleaning or light updates. Nothing major, but a few touch-ups here and there would really bring the place back to its full potential.All in all, it was a great stay. The location, pet-friendly yard, and relaxing atmosphere made it a memorable getaway for us and our furry family members. We'd absolutely consider staying again on our next trip to the area!
