Vacation Fun

Wonderful home

We had a group of 6 women in our 60's. We had a wonderful time. The home was even better than the pictures. Good location, close enough to Salem to drive in, drive back to the house and drive back in for dinner. Owner quick to respond to any questions. The stairs are steep so be aware of that. Definitely recommend.

No hot water

Our stay was for 5 days, Wednesday to Monday. After being out for the day, we came home Friday evening to find out there was no hot water in our unit. We called the phone # associated with the unit and emailed the owner to tell them of the problem. They both responded and said someone would be out the next day, Saturday, to address the issue. On Saturday we were told no one would be able to come out to fix the problem until Monday, which was the day we were leaving. So, the end result was we had no hot water on the last 3 days of our 5 day stay. Even though we were able to communicate with the owner, nothing was done to fix the problem. Communication with zero results is still zero results. We were very disappointed with the experience. Would not recommend.

With a little bit of luck!

We had a wonderful stay, friends of more than half a century reconnecting. The apartment was airy and pleasant, only because we had a little bit of luck: the weather cooled off! The first two days the inside temperature was 83 degrees because the air conditioning didn't work and there was a hearth fire generating heat. Despite numerous phone calls and emails over 24 hours, I was unable to elicit a response to the problem. The apartment itself is full of light, clean, very well equipped and very pleasant. The photo of the house is deceptive. It cuts out the fact that it borders and looks out onto a police depot and some kind of industrial center. We loved our stay because it is amazing that a group of 70+ year olds can reunite after meeting in grad school. We enjoyed the house, but it has details that need to be resolved, most of which I think is the communication issue. I never understood which email or which phone to make contact through and, as stated above, never got a response to the air conditioning problem despite numerous promises.

Welcoming and relaxed stay

Arriving here felt just like arriving home. The beds, towels, toiletries were all ready from the moment we walked in, everything was in plentiful supply, and we were able to get right to shower and sleep after a long day of travel. Coming back to this property in between outings felt like coming home and we had a great time decompressing and playing some of the block games provided, not to mention streaming shows on the included video network and smart tvs. The location was literally right beside a functional but picturesque police station, barely a block from the beach, and was quiet and undisturbed at night and during the day. It was also far enough from the road not to get noise but near enough to get quickly on the way to anywhere we wanted to be. It was a great experience and we plan to rent here again when we next visit the area.

Great house in swampscott

We stayed at this property in swampscott for a couple of days over thanksgiving, and had a great time. It was very clean, and centrally located. Easy to get around from here.

Very comfy retreat

My three friends and I (all over 60) greatly enjoyed this beautiful home. The beds were extremely comfortable as was the living room seating. The hosts rapidly responded to questions. Easy walk to the beach and into town where we enjoyed several meals. Incidentally, there is an ample serving dish — perhaps supplied in response to an earlier observation — and we prepared two simple dinners and all breakfasts in the kitchen.

Great location

The house and all were very nice. It was a bit difficult to serve food as the largest bowl was only a couple of cups. Lots of plates and glasses. Cookware also, but everything needed to be served from the pans. Salad, desserts had to be improvised for a pan.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

Would stay again

Impressive service: coffee, tea, linens all provided and the decor was beautiful. Restaurants, ocean views, amazing breakfast cafe, and shops are all a mile away. Only complaint is that the house carries all noise upstairs and the bedroom amplified every sound. We had a baby with us and had to move the pack n play downstairs in order for it to be quiet enough for him to sleep. It would be nice if the owners had a baby gate and pack n play available in a closet for guests. But with a quick text to them we knew to bring our own pack n play. There are a steep stairs to gain access but we knew that by looking at the listing. Same with limited parking.

Immaculate and Comfortable

This is a terrific property that is very centrally located. It is comfortably and attractively appointed and very clean. The host was very responsive and accommodating. I mean this to be a positive review, though want to point out two things. The steps going into the house and upstairs are quite steep and may be an issue if traveling with an older guest, which I was. Also, I inquired about a slightly early check-in, again as I was traveling with an elder, and was told it was possible, for an additional and costly charge. I have used VRBO around the world and have never received such a response. Overall, the experience was quite positive and I would not hesitate to recommend.
