The room was amazing and so comfortable, the staff were lovely and couldn't have done anymore to make our stay special. The food was phenomenal and after seeing the prices we will definitely be planning on visiting more often with our family. Cannot wait to see the renovation but hope the same feeling stays about the place as it is such a special venue for us as a family. We got married there and love the old Scottish feel about the place.

Lovely old hotel. Read that it was due for a refurb which I hope it does not lose it's character. Ensuite definitely needs upgrading but bedroom spacious, huge TV and hot drink facility. Towels not soft to the touch and cobwebs in the ceiling, probably missed due to the higher ceilings in a older property. At dinner had to ask several times for condiments etc but put it down to training. Free car parking which is always good so will look forward to staying again after refurb. Would recommend it.

Tired . Found underwear in the room from a past occupier . The toilet didn’t flush efficiently. Step up and down into the bathroom dangerous at night . Wires everywhere in bedroom with extension plugs. Cleaning cupboards left not only unlocked but open doors. Booked a room with shower but it was a hand shower , attached to the taps and no room to actually stand in the bath .

Gem of a place

Just a 10 minute walk from the station, on a leafy road sits this hidden gem of a hotel. Fabulously atmospheric, staff greeted us like old friends. The room, double with sofa bed for grandson, was huge as was the bathroom which had separate bath and shower. Beds were soooo comfy, room spotless and quiet. Lovely cosy decor and sturdy antique furnishings. Food was amazing and plentiful, really cant fault anything of our stay. Ideally located a few minutes from either the sea front or the town. Parking and gardens. We stayed just before renovation was due to start, but honestly we've paid much more for far worse, so cant wait to stay after the process. We needed a relaxing break and the staff were so nice, chatty and friendly, that's exactly what we got. Thanks to everyone, we will be back

Closing for refurbishment

This hotel was very comfortable and clean. The meals were excellent. It is closing at the end of October for a complete refurbishment, taking about 6 months, so any review now would, in my opinion, be irrelevant.

Staff were very helpful. The room we were allocated was too small to fit our dog and suitcase to be comfortable, the staff gave us the choice of another 2 rooms, the one we selected was much bigger but the bathroom doors were saloon type, and very noisy. The rooms were in poor condition and in urgent need of refurbishment.

Nice traditional seaside hotel with original features No walk-in shower and although hotel was contacted about access to room we found the advice that that our room was accessed by a short easy flight of stairs There were over 20 stairs with a fire door directly at the top and inadequate handrails This proved challenging and spoilt our stay

Room was pretty small and in need of an upgrade. Shower cubicle was ridiculously small, couldn’t bend down in it to wash my feet. Sink was tiny and in an awkward corner, impractical to be able to wash your face etc properly. Hotel was in quiet surroundings but spoiled by creeky floors, banging doors and thin walls. Breakfast was pretty minimal. Not much selection. I ordered French toast and it was pretty terrible. Other options included a few cereals and toast. No fruit, pastries etc. All in all I found it pretty overpriced for what it was.
