The room we had was in an annexe and was very basic. I would describe it more like a holiday chalet room than a hotel and it reeked of damp. What was particularly disappointing was that although the Hotel.com site stated that there was a restaurant at the hotel, there was only a cafe 200 yds away, which closed at 7.30pm.

Dog fruendly throughout and lots ofs of excercise space outside. So close to a girgeous beach. Fabulous breakfast and very friendly staff.

We stayed in a beautiful room with a view of the stunning front gardens. The staff were friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The beach along the North Sea is a short distance away, with views of Red Castle. Additionally, the full Scottish breakfast included with our room was delicious.

Could be great but?

This redstone mansion house sits in magnificent grounds a short walk to one of the best beaches I have ever seen. The interior decor needs refurbished but the room was very comfortable with good en suite , and lovely garden view. The downside, the hotels Grill house and lounge is only available for functions.There is no option for dinner in the hotel. On returning from Arbroath a ten mile drive at 8.50 pm looking forward to a refreshment the small bar within the hotel was closed. The following evening at 8.30 the bar was open with a few guests within. I went to my room for a few minutes and returned to the bar at 8.35pm and it had closed. There is a small cafe a few minutes walk away but it has a very limited menu. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the breakfast was very good but a hotel should have a bar for residents.

Booked for my mother's 60th to spoil her with luxury which you would get in the main house.... We were not! If booking you need to make sure you are staying in the main house. If not you are in the annexe which appears to be an old care home and no better than a travelodge... No restraunt or bar open on first night.... Disappointing as wasn't informed Imrie's was shut before visit or at checkout....luckily Beach bar was close by but served raw burgers but staff were super friendly. Hotel bar open on 2nd night but didn't know this until we had already bought our own provisions. We expected to stay here and not have to leave as it was advertised to have bar/ restraunt on site. We have left feeling disappointed as in our opinion it was falsely advertised you need to be informed if your not in the main house and you won't have access to food and drink on site. Breakfast and most staff were lovely

Highly recommend

My father in law is disabled and the staff went above and beyond for him. They were very considerate about his needs which was just so thoughtful and kind. It was a family trip and they placed us all right next to each other. It was the perfect time away and the room was huge, very clean and just perfect. Thank you so much.

Lovely overnight stay

The staff made the trip. The house & grounds were great but the staff really stood out for being so friendly & welcoming. We stayed in an annex which wasn’t as nice as the main house but overlooked the gardens & was comfortable.

The smoke from the fire from next door's farm came inside the room and we choked at one point.The windows couldn't be closed as it was a very hot day . It's a regular occurrence as they apparently burn hay to heat up buildings. And we had not been informed that the Imrie restaurant was not open so our choice for dinner was very limited over the 4 days we were there ...given we had no car this was an inconvenience as the little beach cafe has limited menu but the saving grace is thst the breakfast is excellent! But Lunan Bay is stunningly beautiful so we didnt mind in the end 😉

Lovely old previous farm by the beach. Rooms basic but fully functional and great value for money. Breakfast plentiful and delicious. Very quiet but view from room spoiled by looking at the bins!

Nice area close to the beach. The breakfast provided was awesome. Towels, sheets, and pillows were clean. Beds were comfortable. The only complaint I had was that there was a smell in the room possibly from cleaners, we had to leave the window open. The fan in the bathroom didn't work. We were in the wing section not the main hotel.
