Friday June 9 check-in about 6:30: the MOST hateful, condescending, unhelpful desk clerk we have ever encountered at ANY motel. No smile, no greeting when we walked in, just a terse "do you have reservations." Apparently only 2 rooms left, 1 corner room with one Queen. NOT happy we asked to see the room. I asked if the other room was a King, and she was hateful in tone and body language. No eye contact and terse throughout the check-in. We should have immediately gone to the very close Hampton Inn but didn't want to lose a room as she implied. She should be fired (overweight; brown curly hair). Yes, we stopped at front desk upon leaving in AM and no one was there. WAY overpriced room for this small sub-par Comfort Inn. Some repairs were being made near the dining area. One ice machine, 1st floor in room outside of breakfast room. Very small unimpressive lobby. Poor water pressure with shower. Good points: very small but modern bathroom, mirror, countertop; well-appointed with good towels. Room size (corner room) was good. Microwave and frig in enclosed cupboard. Very clean. 4 mirrors total -- 2 full length. Breakfast was surprisingly fine. Would not stay here again due to tolerance of hateful clerk and ridiculous room rate.
I came to the Comfort Inn without a reservation after discovering that the Hampton and Holiday Inn down the road had no vacancies. The front desk staff was a bit slow to check in the guests ahead of me, and seemed to have a rather bored vibe at the time. Once I got into the room, the bathroom and bed were clean, however I could tell that the cleaning staff had not been through there since the previous guest left. There were a couple pieces of dog kibble sitting on the floor (it's a pet-friendly hotel) from the previous guest, and there were a couple dead flies by the sink. Other than that, the room was clean enough and the beds were very comfortable. I had a perfect night's sleep in there. In the morning, the shower also worked very well, and I felt as clean as could be coming out of it. The hotel also offers a continental breakfast and a pool/jacuzzi. The breakfast room's selection isn't the largest I had ever seen (fewer bagels/pastries and only bacon instead of bacon and sausage) though still had enough there to satisfy. Upon checkout, the staff that assisted me showed a much more lively vibe as well. Although this was not my hotel of choice, the overall experience was still positive in most ways. I'd say stay here if the others in the area aren't available or if this is the hotel in your budget. Overall, it's definitely worth the price.
In a cross-country trip we stayed here. Evening receptionist was neutral at best....and grumpy to boot. No charm or talk. Efficient to the point of exclusion of hospitality. She challenged me when I requested additional wash clothes for the room. Halls were not clean...possibly poor vacuum equipment. As compared with our previous night (fewer points/less cost) in Dixon, IL, this was pretty much a rip-off. Morning staff was very friendly and helpful but could not redeem for defaults....
We used rewards points for this stay, and the clerk was very nice about thanking us for being regular customers. We found the room to be clean and the bed comfortable. The breakfast fare was typical for Comfort Inns, but the scrambled eggs were dry and rather tasteless. We would stay here again.
This is a very nice hotel. Quiet, modern, spacious rooms with all amenities. Good location on Hwy 81. Several restaurants nearby. Two negatives: the shower was very weak. And we thought the hotel was a bit over priced, comparing it to others we had stayed in on this trip.
Comfort Inn of York NE is at best a 1960's version of an old super 8. Have to back into bathroom since it is so small the door takes up whole room. The shower/tub is very small and outdated. The furnishings in the room don't fit in room well making it very crowded. Supposed wall thermostat is questionable at best. AND DON'T bother providing your Choice Privilege or AARP cards---they are meaningless to the front desk personnel. Online prices are not honored or correct when you check in!!! The breakfast area is VERY TINY. Since the breakfast attendant was busy eating, she did not notice eggs were cold and sausage not cooked thouroughly. Never mind that her hair was not combed, uniform looked as if she slept in it....it was the amount of noise she made while eating that really caught your attention. Front desk staff evening and morning attired in less than professional look. The open laundry dry immediately behind the front desk made for interesting look and smell. THIS PROPERTY needs to be taken off the list of Choice accomodations. Overpriced and a real disappointment!!!
As a Diamond Elite Member, I travel weekly for business and usually spend 2 nights a week in Choice Hotels. I always ask if their are any upgrades available upon checking in. When I arrived around 5:15pm to check in I asked about an upgrade and was very rudely told by Jodie "We're probably going to sell out tonight so I'm gonna say probably not." So clearly they had an upgrade available at that time but this snotty clerk refused to give it to me. This is not the first time I've had this happen at this hotel. Because they employ such disrespectful people and have zero customer appreciation I absolutely will not be staying here again. As for the room I was given, the television had a snowy screen on most channels and they clearly use no fabric softener when they launder the sheets and towels because both were extremely rough and scratchy. The pillows were very old and lumpy and the mattress was hard as a rock. To top off my stay I got in the shower the next morning to find the soap from the last guest still in the shower with hair all over it. I've stayed in "motels" nicer than this place.
I arrived after midnight. Check in was smooth and I went upstairs ready to crash. The motel reminded me of a Motel 6, back from the old days. It was run down, dimly lit, narrow stairs, tiny check in. I thought how bad can it be? It's just one night. Then I walked into my room and it was roasting hot and humid. The owners of the hotel probably decided to When I felt the blast of heat hit me, I left. The AC was set to 83d, and it took five minutes for the AC to finally turn on when I adjusted the temp. I left. I need a semi cool room to sleep and I was not willing to spend a few hours waiting for it to cool. I will not be staying here again. The owners clearly do not care about running a decent hotel. At least the night clerk refunded my room.
This Comfort Inn has a much better meeting room than most. We had a sales training involving 12 people and all fit very comfortably in the room, with room to spare. Chairs and table were set up before our arrival, and the TV on the wall was all we needed to display the presentation. The entrance to the room is through the breakfast area, so if your meeting starts in the morning, I could see where this could be a problem. We, however, had no such issue. We were very pleased with this choice as a meeting location. A gas station and convenience store is located right next door, so providing snacks and drinks for the meeting was easy. They also have some options for lunch (delivery or pickup) if your meeting requires it. The guest rooms were a bit better than a standard Comfort Inn. Although I didn't personally experience it, the pool area looked to be better than average as well.
The room I had was average, though it smelled like smoke. The biggest issue I had was that the Internet did not work. I could get a strong wifi signal, but no Internet. I asked the front desk why it wasn't working, and they said it was because there were too many people using it. I don't buy that. I stayed there for three nights for work, and I didn't have Internet at all. The whole time. It didn't seem to matter how many people were there, or what time of day I tried. No internet on my phone or my laptop. I wouldn't have stayed here if I would've known there was no working Internet connection. Sounds kind of silly when it's just a hotel, but I paid for something I didn't get. And technology is a big part of my day.
