Nice small motel
We stayed here about 5 years ago and it was so nice, we kept it in mind if we were ever staying in Wytheville again. We did just that this year and were so disappointed with how much the motel has gone downhill since our first visit. Upon getting there, the man working the front desk couldn't find my reservation at first, and had to call someone to help him. He actually kept pulling up reservations for other people with the same first and/or last initial as me--it was as if he's never worked there before. After we were able to finally get into the room, there was an AWFUL smell--maybe ginger or celery--that permeated everything. I also noticed that there were quite a few people in rooms, but only one car in the lot. There were a handful of cars coming in and out, and it didn't make us feel particularly safe. I was woken up in the middle of the night to a new smell, as someone was smoking pot right outside of our door and yelling into the room next to us. Additionally, the owners appear to live on-site and were having a loud party (at least it sounded like that), leaving me with a terrible attempt at sleeping. We were supposed to stay at the Travel Lite again on our way back from vacation, but cancelled the return trip reservation as soon as we checked out of our first stay. I would recommend looking elsewhere in Wytheville for a hotel--we found a great place for only $9 more.
Very outdated and needs repairs. Staff was nice.
Good location, quite, clean, and very friendly staff. the only knock was that the room could use a fresh coat of paint
Nice little place. Friendly staff. Will definitely stay again!
The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. It did have a refrigerator which wasn't expected, but we did use it. They also have wi-fi, but you must ask for the password. Other than that, this property doesn't have breakfast or a pool, but that is not what we are looking for. Our needs are a clean room with comfortable beds and this place delivers. Oh, and the price is right!
Clean rooms, nice owners (very helpful). Beds are ok.
Liked having 2 chairs. Always annoyed when we pay more and there is only one chair. Why say s room accommodates 2 and provide only one chair.
it was clean enough and the bed comfy. Poor lighting. Overall a good bargain and we would stay there again.
Had a great night's rest in a fairly comfortable bed. Staying here will take you back to an era before mega chains and interstates changed the way we travel. This is a family run business, the pride they have in the motel is obvious and it extends to the person who cleans the rooms. The plusses: It's quiet. Secure Wi-Fi. Video surveillance of the entire parking lot. Flat screen TV. Good shower with plenty of space under the shower head. The minuses: The bed is a bit lumpy. The secret: Across the street and two doors down the hill is the 1776 Log House Restaurant. Wow.
