I'm stayed at the hotel 8 days over the last 6 weeks for work. The hotel is run tired at best. Housekeeping was nonexistent, I noticed dirty common areas the first trip that were still dirty my last trip. The hotel needs a new Executive Housekeeper in a bad way. The room was lit my last 2 trips and never cooled off. Although the bistro was reasonably priced the food was greasy and terribly undercooked. The pool was ok but the smell was of Chlorine was so bad it would choke you, the maintenance could use training. Also I noticed two doors leading into the stairways that have been broken every trip. The desk staff was very hot or miss. I encountered one very rude young woman. The only star was Ralph at the desk, he loves peop!e and it shows. It's ashamed his talents are wasted here. It's to the point i booked and will be paying for my next business trip in my own in order to stay some place else.
I rated this two stars because I've stayed at a worse hotel or two over the years. My husband and I stayed for one night. Furst, the nightstand was dirty, with rings from drinking glasses. I cleaned it, thinking not such a big deal. The thermostat apparently didn't work because the room stayed hot and humid all night. The mattress was uncomfortably hard - even for me who prefers hard mattresses. In the morning we each showered. The drain stopper was broken so the tub filled with our dirty water. Yuck. Then the toilet clogged. Final insult: the lobby breakfast was not included - $10 for a plate of eggs and toast. We ate elsewhere.
I needed a place to hang out for several hours in the area and was able to relax in the lobby area, use my IPad and order coffee . Staff was very nice and kudos to Adanna. I would stay here if needed to be overnight in the area.
I was told we that this was an upgraded room but it is by no means is it an upgraded room. It is small because of the narrow “hallway” to the sleeping area. Also, it smells of chlorine from the pool (which is right below). The air conditioner didn’t work well so the room always felt clammy. It has a terrible view because you look out onto the roof from the pool. The sliding glass door needed to be cleaned. The room was dusty. I could write my name on the clock radio and on coffee table. I asked for a luggage rack and the desk clerk had no idea what I was talking about. We stay at this hotel whenever we are in Wilmington area which is at least 4 times a year. And this is the reason for not giving the hotel a worse rating. Most of the staff is very nice especially housekeeping. I have written to the hotel about my concerns but never heard back from them. I would suggest looking for a different place to stay.
The staff at Courtyard of Marriott Brandywine were super friendly, informative and very accommodating. But the hotel itself could do with some new carpet and fresher Snell in the rooms. The location is in a great place with so much to see and do.
I'm a business traveler and spend several months each year in a hotel and give hotels an honest rating. This is one of the worst hotel experiences ever for me. It started with a room they couldn't make a key for so the desk person walked us to the room which was open. I'm not a big fan on 1st floor rooms to begin with. The electronic lock on the interior of the door was exposed. We did not sleep well needless to say. The room was very damp. There were cracks on the walls. The room was mostly clean. In all fairness the hotel staff were nice but they should've done something for the inconvenience of having to ask them to let us into our room each time.
Decor a little old fashioned j- gold and red, but a nice room. King bed with good mattress and linens. Comfortable sofa w/good reading light. Free and fast wi-fi. Very quiet. Within 10 minute drive of lots of attractions that we visited - Longwood Gardens, Nemours Mansion and Brandywine museum.
Hotel location is good. several hotel options around at certainly much better price offer. all hotels were booked but this one. The room, lobby area and breakfast area are ok! it just seems too expensive for what we get in return. Front desk service was good.
I chose this hotel to get some peace after an intense lecture series we were attending nearby in Glen Mills, PA. The hotel butts up against Brandywine Creek State Park and thus provides a green and quiet back courtyard that is nicely landscaped, quiet, and to our surprise, filled with the sound of songbirds from the State Park. The location is “off the beaten path” of the surrounding strip malls and restaurants. It was lovely, and the balconies allow you to open the screen doors and actually get some air in the rooms, something sorely missing from today’s chain hotels that have permanently shut plastic windows that make you feel like you are staying in a cracker box. I have chosen many Courtyard properties just due to the balcony. If you like fresh air and want a good rest, this hotel is the best chain in the area. Wegman’s, Whole Foods and Trader Joes are within a short driving distance to pick up prepared foods. We did not realize there was a trailhead entrance in the parking lot until we were checking out, but I could have stayed another night just to walk the park and relax. Other amenities at the property included a full bar in the lobby with a Starbucks kiosk, and a whirlpool in the pool area, again, a plus for a “chain’ hotel. The rooms were clean and well maintained, and the bed comfortable. The only thing slightly lacking at the hotel was that the management seems a bit inexperienced, but they were cheerful and willing to help. There were some delays at our check-in due to what seemed like a bit of disorganization, but again their attitude made up for any delays. I would highly recommend this hotel if staying in the Brandywine/Glen Mills area.
The room was not sound proof and the people in the next room were loud. Called the desk at 1:00 a.m., and the night clerk spoke to noisy group, but the noise continued until 3:00. It was one of the worst night's sleep in my life.
