Beautiful home but…
The good:
This home is beautiful, cozy and in a very convenient location. The neighborhood initially appears questionable but it was quiet at night and we didn’t have any problems. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of pillows, blankets and towels. The house comfortably accommodates up to 10 people, including dining space. The kitchen is well stocked with glassware, silverware, and even kids plates, bowls and plasticware.
The not-so-great:
Once you arrive you have to sign a release of liability and send a picture of the document along with a photo of your drivers license, I’ll mention more on this later. Upon check in, the air conditioner was off so it was 89 degrees in the house and took several hours before it finally cooled off. The AC turns on and off throughout the day. When you set it to 70 it is set back to 76 in a matter of minutes to an hour.
Back to the release of liability- I signed it not thinking there was an issue then throughout our stay I realized there were a few dangerous issues such as: 1. there’s only one smoke detector and there was no battery in it. 2. It’s difficult to set the water temperature (you have to pull and turn the handle but the handle is loose, it’s weird) so you have to make sure the temperature is good before you get in because if it’s too hot it’s not easy to adjust and there’s no indicator for which direction is hot or cold. And the water gets extremely hot. 3. I tried to open one of the windows and couldn’t get it open which is not good in the event of a fire. 4. The laminate coating on the flooring was stripped off from using bleach during the pandemic so now the color of the floor gets on your feet- which wouldn’t be an issue but it’s exposing you to chemicals. The owner recommends wearing your shoes in the house (but this is only said if you complain about the floors making your children’s feet dirty). Because of this issue I would say that this house is not good if you have small children.
Overall, the house is in a great location, it’s beautiful and one of the nicest houses I’ve rented through VRBO however, the safety issues and HVAC issues deter me from ever renting here again.
