Fairfield Inn Tuscaloosa by Marriott

We stayed two nights while visiting at the university. The beds are double beds so be prepared to sleep closely if you're sharing one! The room was clean and quiet even though we were put amongst a group sports team. The breakfast options are good with both hot and cold options. The breakfast room is small but we had no trouble finding a seat. It's a good place to stay if you like a place that is not fancy but clean and mostly comfortable.

I recently had to go to Tuscaloosa for a funeral and needed a place to stay close to family and the Fairfield Inn fit the bill. The staff was exceptionally nice and accommodating. Their free breakfast came with many options, eggs, sausage, waffles, muffins, cereal, oatmeal, fruit, etc. My room was clean and spacious. We asked for extra blankets and towels and they delivered them in less than 5 minutes. Can't beat that! All in all despite the circumstances, the hotel was great and so was the staff. I'd definitely stay there again.

Maybe it was me, but somehow this property fell short of the high Marriott standard. It was clean. It was seemingly well maintained, but somehow there was something less than satisfying about the stay. The bathroom counter was way too low and had some sort of wear to it just under the surface. There was a strange, damp like feeling to the room. Maybe it was the humidity and that the A/C was turned all the way up when we entered. It was an older A/C unit with a dial range between "Heat" and "Cold". You had to guess where the comfortable setting was. The staff was very nice. The breakfast was OK. The eating area was clean but maybe a bit crowded. That's just a function of the age of the property. It was built before free breakfasts became the norm. No other real problems. Just something was missing.

In town for a couple of days on business - my stay at Fairfield Inn was pleasant and comfortable. The staff were consistently helpful and gracious. Rooms were clean and spacious. Breakfast was ok - nothing special, but allowed you to avoid a trip out to a fast food place. The hotel is located in a convenient area.

Due to renovation of an indoor pool at another hotel, we quickly booked a room at this Fairfield. Upon first use, the bathroom toilet clogged. When we called for maintenance, we were brought a plunger in a plastic bag to take care of the problem ourselves. What?! While my husband worked on the toilet, I took the children to swim. (A pool on spring break vacation was supposed to be a highlight for these land-locked-born children.) The pool was so cold they would not go in past knee-deep no matter how much I coaxed or pleaded. Then I realized I had read a review on Trip Advisor when we had planned our trip that had mentioned an ice cold pool. We made the decision to check-out without staying the evening. After check-out, my husband asked to speak with the manager. In the hotel's defense, they refunded the night's stay and added points to his account. But, we would not stay at this hotel again and we would think carefully before staying at another in a different city.

I would definitely recommend the Fairfield Inn for families on a budget. The building seems fairly new and everything was very clean. Breakfast was bare bones, but good (waffles, in fact, were excellent), wifi supported Netflix with no problem, and fitness center had a couple of treadmills and an elliptical. There is also an indoor pool. Location was about 3.5 miles from Bryant-Denny stadium and a couple of miles from shopping/restaurant areas. So, if you're looking for luxury, you'll have to go elsewhere, but if you just want good value for your money, the Fairfield is an excellent choice!

Clean and comfortable, and 10 minutes from Alabama campus. On our check-in day rooms were not ready until late despite early check-in using the mobile app. Some housekeeping staff did not show up to work - a problem. Our first room was not cleaned from the last guest so back to the desk we went. Second room offered (only one at the time) was disabled access, and the bathroom flooded. So we were then given other rooms, which finally were fine. Breakfast met minimum expectations.

I travel mostly for business these days, so when I stay in a hotel, I like to relax, encounter friendly faces, and have convenience. This hotel offered all of the above. I believe Reg was the smiling face that checked me in and answered all of my typical questions...the main one being "do you offer complimentary coffee in the lobby?". His response, " yes ma'am, we do" as he kindly directed me to it. I was greeted with another cheerful face preparing the breakfast area as I entered for coffee at 530 am. I wish I had been cleared headed enough to ask her name instead of just replying with a good morning. So, friendly faces and helpful staff...check. Fluffy pillows and cloud like mattresses for relaxing...check. Convenience? Shopping, dining, fueling, and the interstate without getting lost or using a GPS...check!!! I fully recommend you stay here whether it be for a 1 night business trip or a week long vacation.

The hotel staff were very polite, The room was ok, but the bathroom was dirty. I had to clean it myself. There were strands of hair in the bathtub. The toilet and floor was filthy , the bathroom's door knob had dirt residue all over it. After I cleaned the bathroom I was ok with staying there for a few days. On a positive note, the location is perfect, and though it is in a busy area the place is very quiet !

The rooms are modern, stylish and clean. I can't give it a higher rating due to the road noise and there was no fan option on the HVAC to help overcome some of the noise. I stayed in an even numbered room which is next to the interstate so perhaps an odd numbered room would have been better. I was also disappointed in the lighting. I know not many hotels provide a magnified or makeup mirror but the light in the bathroom coupled with the distance to the mirror made it difficult for me to see what I was doing. Although the full length mirror was close, the lighting was still insufficient to apply mascara.
