We were initially happy with the place. Upon first inspection, it seemed nice and cozy. However, it wasn’t long before one of my daughters reported rat droppings on the pillow of the bed in the loft.
The next day, we noticed that only the upstairs shower ran hot water. No matter how long we ran the water on the downstairs shower, it barely got lukewarm. On the day before our departure we decided to stay in and make dinner. Well, it wasn’t long before we realized that there were no paper towels or napkins nor a sponge to wash dishes.. my daughter reported that there had been a Partial roll with not much left on the holder on the first day, but that it was used up by the following day.
I called the office around 3:00 pm to request a paper towels roll and was told I was going to receive it within the hour. I waited 2 hours before calling again., but no response at any of the 3, numbers given. I left a message on “Jenny’s” (I think that was the name of the person who initially took my call) voicemail, but she never called back. An hour later I called the central number where a very courteous lady took my complain seriously and who finally contacted the local housekeeping/maintenance person. A man called and I then explained the situation and also reported the shower issue (forgot to report the droppings). He offered to come right away to check on the shower, but I declined since we were leaving the next morning anyway and we had been managing with one shower. It would just have been another inconvenience for us.
It was close to 8 pm before we got our roll of paper towels. By then, we had already used toilet paper and our only kitchen towel to wipe our mouths and fingers and try to clean the kitchen counter. We could have driven to the store and bought what we needed, but being pretty cold out and us already in our pjs and out of principle refused to do so.
