Loved staying here. My wife and I were looking for something more quiet than the resorts. I enjoyed snorkeling off the deck and kayaking. Wonderful breakfast every day and lots of room to lounge. For a fee, out host cooked a private dinner with wine included. Everyone was very nice and made us feel welcome. There are a few dinning options within a short walk. Zeerovers was our favorite. The room was spacious with a dresser and closet. TV with Netflix accessibility, fridge and snorkeling gear. The location is conveniently located so you can be at Baby Beach to the East and Oranjested to the West. Gas station and supermarkets are down the road.
I would HIGHLY recommend this beautiful little gem to anyone wanting a more private and quiet experience in Aruba with stunning views of the ocean. The family that runs it are the kindest people ever that make you feel right at home. The property has been in their family for more than century, so it's really special to see the love they have put into it, making it a special retreat for travelers. The breakfast was a treat, beds were super comfy, and the ocean being in their backyard is just so amazing. My husband and I loved kayaking across to the mini slivers of land across the property. You can also see a colorful variety of tropical fish with the snorkeling gear they provide. It was such a pleasure being there for my husband's birthday trip. Totally relaxing, beautiful, comfortable and the family running it makes it even more special. You don't get that kind of care from normal hotels. Hope to visit again soon! Don't hesitate to book this magical spot!
We stayed here for our 30th wedding anniversary. Nice and quiet. Beautiful spot. We loved using the kayaks to explore and find snorkeling spots. Breakfast outside overlooking the water was wonderful. The best part was the staff, they made us feel like we were part of the family.
Planning to visit Aruba I made the choice for this hotel and I was lucky to find it available. Here I found the atmosphere of Aruba the kindness of Arubians in a cozy hotel. Small comfortable and outside the horrible big hotel circuit in Noord or Oranjestad where you feel more in Las Vegas rather than in Caribe (excluding beaches of course) Owners are kind warm smiley discrete and you feel at home with them catching up for a chat in the morning or evening and getting some hints about life in Aruba Chef Elyse prepare delicious breakfast in the morning and you can sip your coffee looking at the seagull and pelicans flying over the sea. Close there is the coolest restaurant of the island In all fairness this hotel made my vacation together with the beautiful beach in Aruba. What me and my sister really appreciated is the family love for dogs and cats We enjoy with their puppy Sabroso and other dogs. And the hotel is pet friendly so makes this place a perfect choice to live the real Aruba. Recommended to rent a car (avoid Sixt ) to visit all beaches And I recommend this piece of paradise out of madness for a perfect stay Thanks to owners for making our vacation great
What an amazing experience! This accommodation is family owned and run and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Reno and his family are extremely hospitable, friendly, and eager to share info about Aruba to enhance your stay. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We also really enjoyed the snorkels they let you use while staying there and the delicious breakfasts cooked by Elysè. We rented a car which made this location great for driving to Arikok or even the beaches around the island (no more than 20 min drive). If you don’t have a car, Flying Fishbone and Zeerovers are within walking distance. Highly recommend stopping at a store and picking up beer and water to stock up the fridge in the room. Contact Reno immediately if you’re planning on visiting Aruba...this is the place you want to stay!
Everyone was so welcoming from the moment we stepped foot on the property!! My husband swam in the water every day it was refreshing!! Breakfast was delicious. There View from our room was amazing, and the bed Was incredibly comfortable!! I would highly recommend this hotel.
This place is exactly what I was looking for—somewhere to be away from all the crowds, beautiful vistas of the ocean, extremely private, friendly staff but without being over bearing. I felt everything slowed down from the moment I arrived. The no rush island vibe is captured perfectly. The daily, easy going breakfast service provided by Chef Elise with his warm, friendly smile allowed our party to completely unwind and take in each moment. He’s always on the look out to point out wildlife with binoculars handy and ready to go--so bring your camera to breakfast! And what’s the hurry? I felt I could finally shed the rush which follows me around every single day back in the States. The hotel is on the small side with only four other rooms, but a perfect intimate setting to keep your privacy from other guests or mingle if you choose. The rooms were steps away from the ocean. The serenity I found was priceless. And the price for the room with breakfast was a great find and with two great restaurants near by within walking distance. However, once we learned about the “Sunset Dinners” offered by Chef Elise we never ate anywhere else! Tips + Pros: 1. WIFI is excellent anywhere on property 2. You can order dinner 3. Very affordable 4. Great restaurants walking distance 5. Family owned/OPERATED business. Each person having a job and doing their best to share their passion for their country and hospitality with you. 6. They have beach towels and snorkel gear to borrow in the room.
Serene By The Sea....says it all. This property is as close to perfect as I think you can find, especially for the price. We found this hotel by searching for waterfront properties in Aruba on TripAdvisor and this is among the very least expensive. We thought the pictures look good. In reality, the property is better than the pictures. This hotel, which presently only has four or five rooms for rent is run by a single family who have been making constant improvements over the past year and a half since it was opened. I put this property one step below luxury. If you were to create your own vacation resort property that could be run and maintained by your own family, this would be exactly what you would create. The property is clean, neat and has everything you would want in a true get-a-way vacation. No big hotels, no casinos, no kids, no traffic, no shopping....no nothing....except three very popular restaurants in easy walking distance and calm, blue peaceful water with constant pleasant breezes and swaying palm trees (about 30 palm trees keep the entire property shaded just the right amount). Savaneta, on the lower western coast of Aruba (about five miles south of Oranjestad) has about 3/4 of a mile of coastline protected from the ocean's power by a coral barrier island. No waves, no fury, just beautiful calm glistening blue water. Waves are plentiful in other nearby beaches but this area is fully protected making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving or kayaking, etc. Calm waters and constant breezes. We just loved this place. It also includes breakfast every morning made out on the deck by Uncle Elyse'. Wake up in the morning, walk a few steps to the waterfront patio area and enjoy your coffe or fruit juices and whenever you are ready, just ask Elyse' for your omelette or eggs however you would like them and enjoy your relaxing breakfast while overlooking these beautiful waters. The property is not large. Each room is literally within steps of the ocean. We stayed on one of the ground level rooms and were truthfully no more than 40 feet from the water. We really, really loved this place and after driving north to Oranjestad and Palm Beach areas, we were so happy that we could drive a few minutes and be back to our quiet and peaceful .....Serene By The Sea hotel. Rent a car.....there is nothing else to do in Savaneta area other than visiting the tree restaurants and doing nothing but sitting by the water. Personally, we found that a plus, not a negative. We like the peace and quiet. Everyone will tell you how you will love Aruba. I'm not sure I get that as Aruba, in its natural state, is a desert wasteland of dirt, rocks and cactus. However, over the decades (centuries?), man has changed this environment. Those areas have made many areas of Aruba really enjoyable. We love Aruba ONLY because we loved this hotel. If you are into massive concrete hotels and shopping (why does anyone go to a resort island to go shopping? I just don't get that) then you need to stay north and not stay at this hotel. If you really want to get away.....This is your new home away from home. We have been to many islands and locations in the Caribbean and this is the first time my fiance' ever said she wanted to go back.
When we travel, my husband and I prefer to avoid the "tourist" areas in favor of seeking out a more authentic experience away from the crowds. We found exactly what we were looking for at Serene by the Sea, which is located just a few miles (and light years) away from the main tourist area of the island. This small hotel, which had just 4 rooms when we stayed, is very clean, comfortable, and met all of our needs. Every room has a sea view, and we enjoyed a spectacular sunset every evening on the terrace outside our room. The family who runs the hotel could not have been lovelier, and they were extremely friendly, attentive and interested in assuring us a great experience. Breakfast was served to order every morning by Chef Elise, and there were plenty of reasonably priced restaurants in the surrounding area for your other meals. As other reviewers have noted, it is best to rent a car to maximize your ability to explore the area, visit the beaches, etc., but driving is easy and it is almost impossible to get lost. We came to Aruba to enjoy a relaxed, laidback vacation, and that's exactly what we found at Serene By The Sea. We would recommend this place to anyone who desires a quiet place to rest and savor the experience.
What an awesome find! If you want to get away from the crowds this is a great spot. We rented a car which is something we never do in the islands because the place was off the beaten path. It was well worth it. The island is easy to navagiate and we found so many great places for food, art, culture! There are 2 restaurants within walking distance of Serene, plus a few more a short drive away.( Oranjestad is also a short drive). The rooms (right now they are operating with 4) are all steps from the ocean. The rooms are clean and spacious with a fridge and free wi-fi. Breakfast is cooked for you fresh every morning. Even with the 4 units filled you have plenty of space and quiet. The family that owns Serene is amazing. Friendly and accommodating anything you need they will try to make happen. From the minute you check in they make you feel like family. If you are looking to try something a bit different then 'regular aruba' i'd say give this place a try.
