I never write reviews. I just couldn’t pass up writing one for Villa Blanca. We spent three glorious days here and we fell in love with the surroundings. Amazing hiking, staff, birds, birds, birds, and the working diary with the sweetest cows was an added bonus. I know all the staff were amazing but we must mention Alvin, Ivo and Luis because they were who we had the most attention from. Don’t miss out on this place if you want the cloud forest!
This place is amazing. The staff are more accommodating and helpful than anywhere I've ever been. The resort itself is clean, well kept and absolutely breathtaking. The only downside is that due to its seclusion, your options for dining are minimal without driving a significant distance. The only option is the on-site restaurant. The food is very high quality, but comes with a price to match. While this isn't a problem for some, it may be something to consider if you're traveling on a budget. With that being said, a lot of the food is grown and made on site, such as the bread, vegetables and cheese. Everything we had was delicious. I also need to mention one of the staff members there by name who made our stay just that much better. Julio, in the restaurant, greeted us with a smile every time we saw him, he seemed to have such a positive attitude and passion for customer service. Catherine also too us on a very beautiful and educational bird watching home, which my SO and I very much enjoyed.
This was our second stop during our Costa Rican trip. We were received with kindness and professionalism. The casita was perfect, spacious and comfortable. The trails on the property were fabulous. the food was very good and creative. We did several trips from the property. Very convenient. Highly recommend Villa Blanca.
The drive to the Los Angeles Cloud Forest preserve was unworldly. The rainforest hills open up to cattle pastures, tropical plant farms and mist. We arrived midday and the sun was still shiny but by late afternoon the clouds roll in. We had a comfortable cottage overlooking the hills with a private porch, large bath and fireplace stocked with wood which we burned thru on our second night. The night hike with guide was nice, but of course a matter of luck as to what you may find. We did most of the other trails on our own and photographed bids and flowers, especially hummingbirds. Food and wine were good but due to isolated location some of our menu choices were unavailable, be ready to order a second choice. Diego at the front desk was charming and Richardo and Julio (?) the restaurant manager were particularly friendly and kind.
The view is spectacular from the front lawn. You can see the peak of the Arenal Volcano in the distance if it's not too cloudy. Ronald was the BEST waiter we had all week in our 10-day tour to Costa Rica. He was very pleasant, very attentive, went over & above & beyond & always smiling!
The Villa Blanca nestles in the cloud forest. It is a place of extreme beauty and peace. You really feel you have stepped into the garden of Eden. We were welcomed, given a refreshing fruit drink and taken to our casita. Our room albeit small was, private, comfortable and surrounded by lush greenery,Idyllic. The staff were generally patient and helpful. We did two wildlife gentle hikes whilst here one early in the morning and one at night. Both were lead by guides who were very knowledgable and passionate about their wonderful plants and animals, Katherine and ??Heigl, thank you. The bar and waiting staff were ever smiling, helping to ensure you had the best possible service. Particular thanks to Julio. Would we return? You bet!
We stayed here our first two nights in Costa Rica and it was great!! The night, nature, and bird tours were all fun with great guides who gave us so much insight on the wildlife! The staff was very friendly and breakfast buffet was AWESOME!!! The rooms are good size and have a jacuzzi bathtub.
Villa Blanca is out in the middle of nowhere, with a long, bumpy driveway, but don't let that keep you from visiting here. We had a casita with a dehumidifier (use it !!!!) and a fireplace to dry our clothes. The air is heavy, it was called horizontal rain, but the weather was so mild that a parka or raincoat will do. Excellent hiking and birding. Our sneakers were beyond muddy-hiking boots a good thing. Staff friendly, meals excellent. Night tour is a must! Please note the quiet of this resort (no gas powered anything) and the feeling of awe watching the clouds roll and recede. The rooms are buggy-be prepared. Wish the management provided flipflops/slippers for the room. We took off our shoes because they were so muddy and the floors were slick. We could have stayed longer than our 2 days.
The staff were welcoming, attentive. They played requested music for my wife's birthday, and even came out with hats and pots and pans to sing Happy Birthday (Cumpleanos Feliz). The night walk was magical, the rooms comfortable (from the bed to the jacuzzi and mini-fridge), The on-site-grown and very local food was great, and the free breakfast was such one could skip lunch (we had a late lunch and light dinner at the restaurant.
A wonderful place to stay & chill & to see the qualities of the Cloud Forest. It’s set in a very secluded location with excellent views. The management & staff ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. We would like to mention Evelyn on reception, Ricardo behind the bar & Christian the chef. The food was exceptional. The nature tours were excellent. Nick & Ann
