The friendly innkeeper “Romulo” provided transportation to and from the airport for a reasonable fee. He was helpful in every way, and even drove me to an optometrist on the first day to have my reading glasses repaired. This B&B is a converted 1950’s home in an excellent location footsteps from the city center. There is an elderly woman who never stops cleaning, from the early morning until late at night. Breakfast includes bread & jams, fruit assortment, and a hot meal of the day. We usually don’t stay at budget accommodations, but this one really worked for us. I recommend.
When you travel you think of a fancy and luxurious hotel to stay in but when you find another way to do it, you discover a very different wayto see people and places. The city is all a picture to always remember but staying in a bed and breakfast hotel like this is extraordinary. Caring people watching that you are completely comfortable, taking care of the meals you eat there, and everything else. Te cityis a magic palce, full of handcrafts, beautiful places to visit such as the Aurora gallery of art. Don't miss this!
The B and B is a short walk into the downtown. It is a lovely oases tucked in behind copper doors off the street. We had a small cottage in a garden with a garden table and chair set. The rooms in the main house are really quite something. The suite on the upper floor is amazing. It is a spa as well as a B and B. Lovely herb gardens and a small sweat lodge. The staff are terrific. Breakfast was fresh fruit, fresh juice, coffee and omelets or scrambled eggs - it was delicious. Other guests were very interesting, knowledgeable and nice people. It is very quiet with the exception of the occasional dog barking. Highly recommend this place.
We stayed here for a week - in the Obsidian garden Room. On the first night we had a maintenance issue; Romulo immediately remedied the issue by offering us an upgraded suite for two nights. When we returned to the Obsidian the issue had been resolved. The rooms are comfortable and decorated in a lovely style. Stay in the Turquesa suite, you won't be sorry. We had a different delicious organic home cooked breakfast every morning with fresh bread and fresh squeezed juice. We took advantage of the in-house holistic treatments and felt wonderful afterward, very reasonably priced. When I wasn't feeling well, the wonderful staff prepared a special herbal tea that knocked me right back to wellness. Romulo also prepared for us a special bath salt using herbs from the garden that smelled wonderful and kept our skin feeling nice all week. Mari did our laundry for us for a silly low cost. Just can't say enough about the entire staff. The B&B is in an enclosed area just a short easy walk to the central area. We are two single women, and we always felt safe. Seriously, it was like living in a secret garden for a week. So many lovely places to stay in SMA, but we would always come back here - it's like staying in the heart of family.
The manager Romulo went out of his way to help us. My wife and I got there at about 8;30 pm. and the rest of our family was coming in by auto from Acapulco. He went at midnight to the entrance to the city and to lead them to the hotel. Then one of our party wanted a special Day of the Dead handi-craft and he went to buy it and bring it to us before we departed for Tequis. He didn't stop there. He led them out again for their journey to Tequis. His English is pretty good. Very good breakfast at this hotel. I believe that he is trying to make this hotel into a mini health resort. Has a massage table. Herbs in the garden and a sweat bath in the garden. I've included a few photos. Only complaint with this is the plumbing need some work. No water pressure. Hotel is hard to find. This city is not made for autos or foot traffic. Only living creatures who can travel around this place are "Mountain Goats".
The manager named Romulo went out of his way to help us in the middle of the night. As I married into a large Mexican Family, a car full were coming in to San Miguel from Acapulco. Romulo went to meet them on the out skirts of the city at 1:00 am with my wife, and guided them to the hotel. Then he went out of his way to lead them out of town after our stay in San Miguel. He also bought a "Day of the Dead" artwork that was wanted by one of our family members and Romulo went out of his way to buy it in the next town and deliver it to my wife's family before they drove off to Tequis. This guy speaks pretty good English. He runs a second property called La Casita about 5 minutes away from this property. Staff is very nice. San Miguel was not made for cars. Nor was it made for people to walk. The only living thing that can move around this town is a "Mountain Goat". Leave the high heels at home, you will kill yourself. Not much water pressure at both properties. Maybe that is just San Miguel.
I cannot recommend this B and B highly enough. The staff, led by Romulus, are wonderful. The breakfasts are really brilliant. The location ideal. The rooms colorful and comfortable. It's charming and I can't wait to go back.
This is a charming small BnB discovered by my friends. Three of us shared a spacious room and bath, and our terrace overlooked a small garden with access to a higher roof space. The staff were all extremely helpful, and one could even book a temazcal, steam bath ceremony or a massage. I regret that we did not experience that. Our breakfasts were varied and plentiful with fruit and juice, various breads and then omelettes or Mexican specialties. It was up a hill, but more easily walkable than taking a cab which was quite circuitous due to the one-way streets. I do recommend it!
This was our second year staying at the charming Casa de los Espejos, and we were again happy with our accommodations and staff. Romulo and his lovely wife made our stay relaxing and enjoyable, and Abraham made sure our every need was addressed. This is a fine establishment with friendly staff who go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. Close to restaurants and within walking distance to the main plaza. Will be staying with them again next year, for sure.
This is a charming property, within easy walking distance of all San Miguel has to offer. The rooms are eclectic but spacious. The breakfasts very good, with fresh fruit and fresh squeezed juice, breads and selections of egg dishes and traditional Mexican options. But the reason to come is the staff, especially Abraham, who will assure your taxi really is coming, make arrangements for everything you may need. He will watch over you, which is nice for travelers.
