Casa Moonshine is fantastic. For those looking for a quiet, off the grid location with all of the comforts this is your spot! We loved watching sunsets and sunrises from the upper deck and enjoyed the close proximity to the beach. Great stay for our family of 4.

Wow! Where to begin? If you are looking for natural beauty, quiet, comfort, and peaceful surroundings, Casa Moonshine cannot be beat. A short walk to a stunning, uncrowded beach, and local eateries like Coco Loco for breakfast, and Zac’s for dinner. Try Flora Farms for a special night out, DIP Expeditions for a 4 hr boat/snorkeling tour (breaching whales, eagle rays, turtles, seals. Sunrise, sunset, and the night sky will captivate you. We were 2 couples and a single, rented all 3 casitas, and were very comfortable. Can’t wait to return!

Moonshine was peaceful oasis in the desert of Zacatitos. Close to the beach. West facing, the sunsets were beautiful and the peace and quiet of the property is very relaxing. Hanging by the pool and reading or enjoying the huge palapa with a cup of coffee in the morning or and a cocktail at night was our favorite. The air conditioning was a big plus as the days can get very hot. Kitchen had everything we needed. Loved Casa Moonshine and would definitely stay again!

Sun, Sand, Surf and Donkeys

You won't be disappointed staying at Casa Moonshine. While the home isn't directly on the beach, it's nestled among a beautiful variety of trees, flowers, and cactus—truly stunning. About 25 min down the coast, you will find the perfect surfing waves in Los Fortuna. The property and surrounding community offer everything you need for an unforgettable vacation. And I almost forgot to mention the neighbourhood donkeys and humpback Wales that pass by daily.

Magical, safe and peaceful

Ladies trip (3 of us) enjoyed our time at Casa Moonshine. Off the grid yes but in a luxurious sustainable way. Its only 20 minutes to the lovely old San Jose and the marina to take Ocean excursions. Casa Moonshine was so comfortable from the beds to the lounges by the pool. Basically, a private beach is a close walk away. We lost count of how many Grey & Humpback whales we encountered. The layout and the architectural design is smart and lovely. We never had to turn on a fan or any A/C. The community is so friendly. Knowing there is private security in the community was a plus. We will be back for sure. Safe travels

Nice place. Plain and simple. Clean and will equip. Neighbors a bit noisy. Lovely birds.Pool was too cold for swimming.Would be nice if you could eat in your studio. No table to eat on except outside.

Exceptional hideaway that was perfect for our needs.

We have been traveling and staying in this part of the cape for the last 5 years and have stayed at a variety of rentals from bare bones to the extravagant and for our needs this trip, Casa Moonshine was perfect. If you’ve been to the southern parts of the East cape you know that things like hot showers, WiFi and functioning appliances are not guaranteed. Casa Moonshine provided reliable services and a very comfortable and relaxing experience. Our hosts were quick to communicate and attentive to our needs without being overly concerned about our time there, we felt trusted with their home and appreciated for our business. When you travel to this part of the world it would be a shame to spend your time indoors. That being said, you want comfortable shelter at night and during the middle of the day when the sun is HOT. The house(s) are very cleverly and stylishly designed that have everything you need. The AC works well. The exterior has a very large palapa with tons of places to lounge. The pool is clean and functional for all ages with a shallower end for smaller kids and smart blocks dividing the deep end. The studios are new and in good shape. Quality appliances, comfortable beds, great linens, well stocked kitchens, beautifully maintained landscaping with massive cardon cactus's and all the beach necessities you need. A lovely little desert spot that we plan to return to again. Thank you Mooney family!

Just right...

Casa Moonshine was just the right amount of remoteness for our 10 day family vacation. We loved the community and everything about the location. Hosts were full of great recommendations (compiled in a lovely book) and the property manager was awesome and super helpful throughout our stay (met us at the nearby restaurant to show us the way to the casa upon our arrival). The property was beautiful and set up for outdoor living, which we fully embraced! We loved the pool, the palapa, the proximity to the ocean, walking the neighborhood, donkey calls, all of it was just perfect.

Paradise found!

I stayed 4 days here with some girlfriends and we had an absolutely incredible time. The owners did such a beautiful job of building this place. You can tell they really put their hearts into it. Everything about it was wonderful. The beds are comfy. The casitas are beautiful. We stayed outside most of the time, either at the pool or palapa. We hung out under that beautiful palapa late into the nights and went back under there first thing in the morning for coffee and yoga. The vibe is so good. There is a lot to do in the area, but we really didn’t want to leave much. We did wander down to the beach a couple times (it’s amazing), as well as the hike to Punta Gorda and we had dinner at Zac’s most nights. (Zac’s has incredible food.) I was struck by the simplicity of everything - our entertainment was mostly each other and the wildlife (there’s a lot!). We are already planning a trip again in a few months. I cannot say enough good about this place! We took the owners advice and got groceries near the airport before heading out. We made sure to arrive before dark since this is rural Mexico and it would be difficult out to find otherwise, and we ate at Zac’s and took a voyage down the beach to Zai Sushi one night. The owners know what’s up. Their suggestions were spot on. Do keep in mind that this is wild territory. Lots of flora and fauna. We loved that aspect of it. It’s a perfect place to get away from the craziness of our modern lives and just unplug and breathe deeply.
