This hotel needs a total overhaul. The wallpaper was peeling off for a 4 star hotel. There was a dog in the room next to mine which started nuisance barking incessively at 6AM and because the walls were paper thin, the entire floor can hear the dog barking non-stop. When I called down to the front desk, they offered nothing to address the situation. I expect much more from a brand name for Intercontinental Hotel.

I now it is hard right now for business to deal with pandemic shortages, staffing etc. However, The Mark Hopkins is a premere San Francisco Hotel and no amenities were available during our stay. No in-room dining, and menu choices in their restaurant were very limited. Our room (a corner suite and by no means inexpensive), the hallways, many public spaces needed some serious upgrading and touch up paint. I should not have spend the upgrade $$. It did not have a luxury feel at all. The dining table chairs were stained, and the furnishings felt like an afterthought. No bedside plugs for electronic devices unless you brought your iPod circa 2008. The Top of the Mark had a decided air of shabbiness about it. The host was not terribly welcoming and one of the windows as you get out of the elevator had a LARGE crack along the side. Again touch up painting was needed along the walls. I really do understand that coming back from the pandemic is difficult, but the élan and shine of this SF diamond has certainly dimmed. We availed ourselves of the dining options and ambiance of the Fairmont across the street and used our room only to sleep. Most of the staff was welcoming (the exception being the host at the Top of the Mark.) We have been patrons of that lovely lounge for years, and this experience was certainly not up to standard.

good

Built in 1926, it was a treat to stay at this S.F. icon. Room was large, well appointed. Nice bathroom. Take advantage of reduced rate from Orbitz. Yes parking is expensive. Its S.F. Top of the Mark was amazing view, only waited 20 minutes at 7 pm on Saturday. Great drinks and dinner-worthy appetizers, the sushi tacos were outstanding. Give youself a treat and do this!

The staff friendliness is exceptional.

Great location! Shirt trolley ride or walk to Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, shopping & museums. Wasn’t aware they charge $4 for water, when they have complimentary bottled water at front desk. Not sure why we were SOLD water without being offered complimentary water. This is our only complaint.

Highly reccomend due to location, excellent staff and welcome pets

Not very impressed On arrival it gives the impression of a very nice looking hotel in a great location. Inside the room it seemed very dated; while its' historic value is understood, it does not appear to have kept up with the times where the technology aspect in particular is concerned. The sink was not cleaned very well, there was actually black mold visible by the rim. Looking out over the city, the windows looked as though they had not been cleaned since before the pandemic began. Breakfast for 3 was hideously expensive

Cozy with great views from top of the mark

It is a beautiful and traditional San Francisco hotel. Very clean and the staff is very professional. Highly recommend this hotel.
