The mattress was worn and sagged. The elevator kept us up at night due to it being old and noisy. The elevator could not hold its position on the top floor and would readjust itself all night. The TV pixelated. I told staff but it was never addressed. Had to ask for toilet paper a few times till delivered in the nick of time. We were there 3 nights and housekeeping never came to our room, hence, no toilet paper, etc. Having said all this, it seems to me Covid has its reach. I’m thinking it is a staffing issue.

property is in excellent place downtown sandiego " great eating spots around grocery stores etc My travel companion and i booked the Grand suite with fire place & pull out counch, pull out mattress was awful "needs replacing.ended up we shared the bigger bed , Because it such a bad experience & uncomfortable...Carpet in our room was soiled actually had a small tottlers shoe found in front of large bed upon us checking in our suite? So the question of how did cleaners miss it?andwas the room vaccumed @all? we thought of getting another hotel briefly because my allergies and soiled carpet was all i could think to have sniffling & running nose! Since our stay was short we hit the ground running daily for our scheduled events planned! and decided to not relocate" More expenses to do so & it would mean to modify our itenary! We finished our stay & made the best of our situation! a classic hotel" But i doubt i would ever stay there again" not the Best Experience" ! for myself or travel companion..I will not recomend for the price we paid $$$ too many other hotels in downtown sandiego...

The hotel had a beautiful bar and restaurant associated with it. Upon arrival we went to the bar fir a glass of wine. The servers were pleasant but could not serve any food or snacks that were on the menu as no chef was available. Then when we asked for coffee , the could not make any. Again I asked about breakfast that was on the menu for the morning. The answer was none would be available due to no staff or chef. One of the things that we made the reservation for was the great write ups on the food etc. Our room included a balcony. Sadly a balcony with a view of nothing. Water was in our room but $5.00 each!!!! The shower took several minutes to heat up and the room was old with no plug ins for cell phones or iPads. In the morning no decaf coffee, creamer or sugar was available. My husband went downstairs to the lobby and had to pay $8.00 for two cups of coffee. Again no decaf. All in all, the hotel which had a lovely entry, was a huge disappointment.

The neighborhood. Close to the ballpark.

Its surprisingly beautiful! The courtyard made me want to stay another day by myself

Arming was difficult but that’s our only complaint.

I loved the architecture and the bedding was so comfortable and clean. I was happy I had a balcony until nighttime, when I discovered my room was across from a very busy bar. It was loud. So a heads up if you get a room along the Main Street if it’s the weekend and you’re a light sleeper

While my room was in the annex, I greatly appreciate the renovation of a 100-year-old hotel and the emphasis on its history. Huge open spaces -- and a huge suite, too.

I liked how cool the hotel looked. I had some objects mysteriously move at night, so it could have been from a ghost. The staff was nice. However, the staff that I spoke with told me that there would be a refrigerator in my room and there was not. I had to throw out all of my perishables. Some of the towels had stains on them and the toilet seat and faucet shifted to the side. The TV signal went in and out. The Wi-Fi seemed to shut down at night. You can definitely hear guests in the above and next door rooms. They woke me up at night. The parking situation is just disappointing. The last night, I was worried that the off-site parking lot would just remain filled and I would not find a spot to park in. A staff member had suggested before my stay that I reserve parking with SpotHero.com, however I read many poor reviews of that service. I don't see how that possibly would have reserved a spot for me during that time or otherwise risk having my car be towed. I wouldn't stay here again.

Super clean yet nostalgic, very friendly staff. Easy/short walk to Petco Park. My new go to spot when I am in San Diego.

Very classy! Loved this place. Great location as well.

We stayed on the fourth floor and the street noise was very very loud… Other than that everything was great!

This was a beautiful property in a perfect, central location. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable and the decor was very specific to the location. My only 'complaints' are that there were no usb outlets available in the room and there was no minifridge for waters/drinks/leftovers. The pro's definitely outweighed the cons and I would stay here again, no questions asked!

We liked the style of the hotel, nice woodwork and detail.

Loved the history and located. Centrally located to be able to walk just about everywhere

Overall the property was nice. The checki in experience was good. We had a room 415 which evidently backed up to the elevator and this old fashion elevator was extremely noisy as if it was right in the room. So the night sleep was not good. we went to a party wanted to sleep in but the elevator was so noisy in the morning you couldn’t sleep in. I told the gentleman on the way out about the noisy room he said nothing at all simply said your room was pre-paid you’re all set. He didn’t even thank us for staying. Not a great experience.

Thank you for your review and comments. We will forward your concerns on to the appropriate departments to review. Our valet parking is available to help with the busy downtown parking and your car will be brought to the front of the hotel when needed. I hope we will have an opportunity to see you again in the future.
