Very nice old school hotel with beautiful views of the ocean and very nice accommodations. Staff were always nice and friendly. A little on the expensive side, but nice.

I can't say enough about the staff. each one was so friendly and so excited to help. Our luggage didn't arrive but they were able to get us into a room right away which was great since we were traveling with an infant.

Too awesome to describe in 50 characters! A Spanish Villa off the coast of Naples, or Iperhaps the resemblance of the movie stars mansion with perfect landscaping and comfort at every turn!

An amazing corener room on the 9th floor with beach front/LaJolla Cove views. Right at the park for the coastal walk. Staff was incredible and friendly. Come prepared for tipping and valet parking expense, burn WELL worth it! Restaurant was an added bonus. Pictures don't do this place justice. Especially once you are inside.

stayed a week. hotel was great, la jolla nice, quaint. lots to do in area

This hotel is well maintained and has a Spanish style to the design. This hotel is located on a hillside and has multiple levels which include dining, bars, pool and villas. There are many local shopping areas by the hotel and excellent restaurants. This hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway.

I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world but this one is my favorite. It is a beautiful, classy hotel. The staff is very friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable with an ocean view. I am looking forward to my next visit!!

We have stayed here many times. This time myself and wife and two kids stayed in ocean view suite (305) The room was very comfortable with a killer view. Staff is always friendly. Parts of the hotel are worn (elevators) and the gym is terrible BUT so great to be able to walk everywhere in the village and food at the med was great

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and hoping to return some day. The hotel is centrally located close to everything in La Jolla. Staff/service is beyond great, I would rate it a 6 if I could. Everyone we interacted with were extremely helpful and attentive.

My first impression of the hotel was that it was so cute and I loved the old European feel to the decor. It was beautiful inside and had a great pool area as well. The hotel was situated within a little shopping district with boutiques and restaurants and other fun little shops. The whole little town was within walking distance so we didn't use our car unless we were leaving town. Seal Rock was also right outside our back door. There was a little shortcut outside of the back door of the hotel that led to a park and beach. The rocks around this area is where the seals hang out and even some sea lions. The beach was pretty crowded but there was some great snorkeling here! The only thing bad about the location was the lack of parking. We were forced to use valet parking for a resort fee. The maid also broke a bottle of very expensive hair conditioner and tried to hide it, which made me pretty upset at the time, but I guess that could happen anywhere. The housekeeping staff was also on a strict schedule so if you caused them to miss your room on the first time around, they wouldn't come back. That was also just another small complaint that didn't really make a difference in the great time we had. We visited the zoo, the aquarium, the beach and frequented the downtown area (lots of food and shopping here) with the car we rented. It was really a great experience and stress free.

The hotel is so beautiful and historic and elegant. The staff were so polite and helpful. Anything we needed they made sure we were taken care off. The food in the restaurants was fabulous. I cannot wait to go back. It was a dream and the area is breathtaking. The park across the street is so relaxing with several beaches and coves to lay out and read or stay in the park on the grass and still enjoy the ocean breeze and sunshine. I highly recommend this hotel!

Beautiful hotel with modest rooms but nice views; nice staff and aside from a few minor annoyances like a broken table light and coffee machine it was a pleasant stay.

Hmm. This place is expensive, but for a splurge it might be just right. Great view of the ocean, and close to all of La Jolla's good things. Had a hard time getting lounge chairs by the pool. Seems like people would put stuff on them to reserve them for the day and then go away for hours and hours. The clientele act very rich, so be sure you can stand that attitude before you go. There are also weddings on weekends that swamp the bar area with obnoxious people.

Everything was fantastic! Enjoyed the hotel, staff, and amenities onsite. Everything you need is within walking distance.

Hotel was in a great location within easy walking distance to restaurants, bars and beach. Staff was very courteous and food was good. There was an Awesome bartender at the pool bar (Robert) who whipped up some great drinks. Classic King Room was pretty small but it had an excellent ocean view and had all of the amenities. Relaxing vacation in a beautiful location.

Great location, great views, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Everything you would expect at a first class hotel. Quite a few steps to maneuver in getting around to different functional parts of the hotel, but after all it is built on the side of a very steep hill overlooking the ocean :)

There were many pro's and con's about this hotel. First, the location is wonderful, although not as close to the beach as it would seem. We still had to drive, it is not within walking distance. The pool is salt water, which is weird. I know they said it is good for the skin, but try to open your eyes without goggles and it doesn't work. It was very loud. We were in Cabrillo wing which was old. Lots of construction noise, and you could hear every sound from above. People let their kids run in the hallways. The cleaning staff began vacuuming at 8 a. everyday. Not quiet. Not great spa amenities, parking was SUPER expensive $30 a day plus tips. Food was not great, and expensive. The room was clean, nice robes, and great bedding. Comfortable beds. But our phone was busted and we reported it 5 times. I think there is a reason no one wears name badges. So you can't say who you spoke to previously. Just bad customer service all around. For the price, I expected so much more. I wouldn't stay here again. Refrigerator is accessible to put your own items in, which was nice. Cable TV, but no special movies or options. Keurig coffee maker only. No microwave. Really expensive food options (dean and delucca) in the room. 8 dollars for a candy bar. Seriously? I understand we were in La Jolla, but it just wasn't worth it. I think for me, I have high expectations when it comes to customer service and this just didn't meet my expectations for the price.

The La V is like a turn of the century California coast vacation in a stately intimate hotel. The valet staff is exceptional! The staff at the La Rue Cafe was both fantastic and passable. The king rooms in the old tower can be a bit small ( especially the bath) but are nice nonetheless. The breakfast area, lobby bar and ding room are fantastic, as is the location within a quaint shopping district of La Joya and across from the Oceanside park with sea lions and seals. It us also convenient to San Diego.

Staying at the La Valencia is like a trip back in time to a more relaxed and kinder world. The architecture is fabulous -- an exquisite example of the kind of vintage 1920s to 1930s Mediterranean revival draped in flowering Bougainvillea. The restoration project they just finished in the lobby is just wonderful. The staff is amazing and could not be more helpful. It is an old hotel, so the elevator is slow and the baths can be a bit small, but we had a lovely room with a wonderful and huge outdoor patio looking over the sea. The whole experience was an A+. We go to La Jolla a few times a year and there is no other place like La Valencia.

Overall, I thought the hotel was good. The staff was really nice and friendly, maid service was good (twice a day), had a fitness center and a business center, a pool with service, and access to the beach (about a half a mile walk fro the hotel). The only complaints are the rooms are the size of sardine cans, the expense of room service (literally 50 dollars for 4 shrimp and some cheese---- 20 bucks for each + 5 dollar room delivery fee and 20 percent service charge) and parking. It is 29 dollars a night to park, plus you cannot park yourself you have to get a valet to do it (meaning a tip each time you want to use your car). Simple things like ice or silverware you have to call room service, have them bring it to you plus another tip. All surrounding areas in La Jolla are overpriced so be prepared to spend a small fortune. But other than these things it was great.
