Hotel was nice. Beautiful setting, close to the beach and restaurants. However, parts of hotel are dated and they do not offer room service at night. Elavators are slow

One of the best hotel experiences I've ever had! The property is phenomenally gorgeous and the staff was incredible! Everything was absolutely perfect and I would recommend to anyone.

Beautiful vintage beach front hotel. Very clean, excellent staff, beautiful scenery

There was only 1 elevator and it is super slow. We basically walked the stairs every day. The room was not soundproof. Every time someone walks in the hallway or when our neighbors leave, I can hear. Whatever time the hotel staffs told you something would be ready, the time doubled or tripled. We were told at check-in that the room would be ready around 230, and the room was not ready until 4. When we arrived, we were given the key to the wrong room, when someone's luggage was in there! We were told the cleaning staff needs half an hour to clean our room when we came back, and after spending half an hour trying to kill time, the room was not ready.

Lovely ocean view room super nice and courteous staff. Every request looked after promptly

Fabulous hotel on Prospect Ave with great view of the ocean from dining areas and pool. Great food (but very expensive) and service in the restaurants. Comfortable, large bedrooms. The hotel concierge, Nancy, was so helpful and worked with me weeks before our arrival. Pool attendants were super friendly and courteous, as was valet staff. A few suggestions - the hotel has no place to congregate/meet friends (without paying for dinner, drinks, snacks). There is no lobby area to speak of. Also, the front desk staff could be friendlier and should be trained on communication and customer service. The hotel was building a spa during a stay and construction was right outside our windows, so we were awaken each day at 7:30am. Nancy was nice to comp one morning's breakfast. Wish the hotel had told us before purchasing the room that we'd be disturbed each morning. Once the spa is completed, it'll be great.

Hotel was within walking distance of ocean and restaurants, shopping, etc. Unfortunately, the hotel was in serious need of renovation. Also, some hard hat areas were roped off because of current renovations.

Very nice old school hotel with beautiful views of the ocean and very nice accommodations. Staff were always nice and friendly. A little on the expensive side, but nice.

I can't say enough about the staff. each one was so friendly and so excited to help. Our luggage didn't arrive but they were able to get us into a room right away which was great since we were traveling with an infant.

Too awesome to describe in 50 characters! A Spanish Villa off the coast of Naples, or Iperhaps the resemblance of the movie stars mansion with perfect landscaping and comfort at every turn!

An amazing corener room on the 9th floor with beach front/LaJolla Cove views. Right at the park for the coastal walk. Staff was incredible and friendly. Come prepared for tipping and valet parking expense, burn WELL worth it! Restaurant was an added bonus. Pictures don't do this place justice. Especially once you are inside.

stayed a week. hotel was great, la jolla nice, quaint. lots to do in area

This hotel is well maintained and has a Spanish style to the design. This hotel is located on a hillside and has multiple levels which include dining, bars, pool and villas. There are many local shopping areas by the hotel and excellent restaurants. This hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway.

I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world but this one is my favorite. It is a beautiful, classy hotel. The staff is very friendly, the room was very clean and comfortable with an ocean view. I am looking forward to my next visit!!

We have stayed here many times. This time myself and wife and two kids stayed in ocean view suite (305) The room was very comfortable with a killer view. Staff is always friendly. Parts of the hotel are worn (elevators) and the gym is terrible BUT so great to be able to walk everywhere in the village and food at the med was great

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and hoping to return some day. The hotel is centrally located close to everything in La Jolla. Staff/service is beyond great, I would rate it a 6 if I could. Everyone we interacted with were extremely helpful and attentive.

My first impression of the hotel was that it was so cute and I loved the old European feel to the decor. It was beautiful inside and had a great pool area as well. The hotel was situated within a little shopping district with boutiques and restaurants and other fun little shops. The whole little town was within walking distance so we didn't use our car unless we were leaving town. Seal Rock was also right outside our back door. There was a little shortcut outside of the back door of the hotel that led to a park and beach. The rocks around this area is where the seals hang out and even some sea lions. The beach was pretty crowded but there was some great snorkeling here! The only thing bad about the location was the lack of parking. We were forced to use valet parking for a resort fee. The maid also broke a bottle of very expensive hair conditioner and tried to hide it, which made me pretty upset at the time, but I guess that could happen anywhere. The housekeeping staff was also on a strict schedule so if you caused them to miss your room on the first time around, they wouldn't come back. That was also just another small complaint that didn't really make a difference in the great time we had. We visited the zoo, the aquarium, the beach and frequented the downtown area (lots of food and shopping here) with the car we rented. It was really a great experience and stress free.

The hotel is so beautiful and historic and elegant. The staff were so polite and helpful. Anything we needed they made sure we were taken care off. The food in the restaurants was fabulous. I cannot wait to go back. It was a dream and the area is breathtaking. The park across the street is so relaxing with several beaches and coves to lay out and read or stay in the park on the grass and still enjoy the ocean breeze and sunshine. I highly recommend this hotel!

Beautiful hotel with modest rooms but nice views; nice staff and aside from a few minor annoyances like a broken table light and coffee machine it was a pleasant stay.

Hmm. This place is expensive, but for a splurge it might be just right. Great view of the ocean, and close to all of La Jolla's good things. Had a hard time getting lounge chairs by the pool. Seems like people would put stuff on them to reserve them for the day and then go away for hours and hours. The clientele act very rich, so be sure you can stand that attitude before you go. There are also weddings on weekends that swamp the bar area with obnoxious people.

Dear Recent Guest, I am so very sorry that your recent stay at La Valencia was not as you hoped it would be. I do apologize for your numerous wait times and mistakes made by our staff. There is no excuse for you being given the wrong room key or the length of time you had to wait after to get your correct room. I hope that you will allow us another opportunity to win your loyal business and show you the excellent service La V is known for. Kind Regards, Melissa King. Marketing Manager

Dear Cathy. We thank you for your thoughtful and honest review, and two beautiful photos you posted. Thank you for your many kind comments on our charming property located in the heart of the Village of La Jolla, our delicious food, and our staff from the pool to the valet's and our amazing concierge, Nancy. I'm sorry to hear you didn't receive the same personable service from our front desk staff, and please know that we will use this as a training tool. In regards to your suggestions, we have our take on the grand hotel lobby bar, La Sala Lounge, that extends from the main entry and serves as the ideal location for meeting and chatting with friends with its comfortable arrangement of couches, and chairs while allowing guests to still soak in the cinematic view of the Pacific Ocean. We are indeed building a highly-anticipated spa, and I'm so sorry that the construction noise was a disturbance for your stay, but I'm happy to hear that Nancy once again was able to show incredible service and offer you breakfast. We hope to welcome you back soon, and we promise Spa La V will be everything you want and more once complete! Cheers! Melissa King, Marketing Manager
