Considering the name "Grand Pacific", I guess I set my expectations too high. This facility was probably very grand back in the 70's and 80's but now it appears tired and dated. Some significant remodeling is needed to get this place back to "grand" status. At check in I was informed of a per day parking fee. The person on duty did agree to reduce that by half but considering there is an outdoor parking lot on the premises I wasn't sure why we had to park in the garage and pay the fee. Our initial frustration began when we were unable to get into our room. I went back to the front desk and only then did they tell me that if the card key is placed near a cellphone it becomes deactivated. They apologized and reserved the keys but frankly there wasn't much improvement. It took and average of 8-10 swipes to get the door to open each and every time. The room had a musty cigarette smell to it. I realized quickly that someone in the next room was a smoker. Not sure if that is permitted by the property but it happened. Everything appeared dated with little regard for cleanliness. We returned to our room at 4pm the next day and noticed that the room had not been cleaned. The housekeeper was in the hall. She told me our room was "not on the list" but she agreed to service the room anyway. We received a call regarding an offer to return anytime during the next year for an all inclusive 4 day/3 night stay at a discounted price. We declined.

The resort location is great. However, the hotel rooms are outdated. We also had mold in our bathroom which I have never seen in my life. A mushroom grew overnight in our bathroom. We informed the hotel staff upon checking out and they didnt seem to care. We also emailed a picture to the "resort" with no response from management. If they handled this differently I probably wouldn't be leaving this type of review. I would never stay here again.

Very close to legoland, walking about 15 to 20 min if you know the short cut. Asking for short cut way. Or asking for free shuttle there. Close to beach! The carpet in our room wasn't too clean. Looks old. otherwise the facility was good. There are 2 pools.

Our two queen room reserved was not available so we were put into a condo for 2 days. The lock broke on the door so for our inconvenience we remained in the condo the remainder of our stay. We were given free breakfasts for all 4 mornings in a wonderful restaurant. The staff was very kind, tons to do at this resort for kids/families. Movie nights, arcade room, great pools. Highly recommend this hotel!!

The hotel had wonderful activities for kids and adults and the shuttle service is available for a 5 mile radius. You have a shirt and convenient walk to Legoland. This is my families favorite hotel by far on any vacation that we have been on.

On arrival Martin upgraded our 4 person family from a one bedroom to two bedroom condo and from then on we couldn't stop smiling. Grand Pacific is everything a resort should be.

We came into the hotel at 4 pm but our room wasn't ready yet. When we came back from the pool at 5:30 the room was still not ready so I was a bit upset. They gave us another room and gave us a $30 credit to the restaurant. Then at 1 am while we were sleeping someone walked into our room w a key. It was really upsetting. I told the manager in the morning what had happened and they comped our stay which was really nice.

Overall great experience! Very beautiful hotel. Great swim area for kids. Great location!

Enjoyed our stay. Played golf at the crossings. Nice course. Enjoyed sitting by the pool. Bed was comfortable.

We usually stay here twice a year for multiple days at a time. It's one of our favorite places, but this time I wish they had told us that they were renovating a room close to us. Being woke up early by construction noises is a bit jarring. Otherwise, they are very accommodating with requests & service.

Very friendly, helpful staff. Great location close to LEGOLAND. Restaurant and Microbrewery on premises serving delicious food until 10PM, bar is open later. Added amenities like laundry facilities! Really enjoyed our time, hope to be back soon!

Had a corner room on first floor overlooking the hills and partial ocean view. Comfortable and roomy, beds ok - could have used some better pillows. Stayed five nights - ate at Karl Strauss a lot. Be careful of having food in the room as there were bugs. Shower was not updated - simply a tub. Activities for kids is a plus!

Very nice place, good pool, comfy, about 4 star, bed very soft (if you like that sort of thing), Karl Strauss is yummy, 2 bedroom suite excellent, can't hear other room. On 1st floor you can hear the 2nd floor footsteps banging

Room was great, clean and quiet .The only problem i had is when i went to the pool with my kids i got my pool pass bracelet from the front desk and headed straight out to the pool and at first i saw bunch a retired people swimming and everybody was looking at me and my kids very weirdly ,then one of the old people told me this pool is not for kids andthe security came and escorted me.Total humiliation in front of my kids

Nice grounds and facilities. Fun activities for the kids. Easy walk to Legoland. Definitely a great place to stay in Carlsbad.

Perfect for families. My son loved our stay!!!! Lots of activities for kids and adults.

We had a great time at the hotel . I will definitely stay again.

The hotel had wonderful views of the Pacific Ocean. It was walking distance from the Legoland theme park. Upon check-in the staffed if we were celebrating anything during our visit. I told them that it was my birthday. When I returned later to my room that evening I was surprised to a bottle of champagne and a birthday card signed by the front desk! What a pleasant surprise to receive. The room had comfortable furnishings, though I spent most of my time at their amazing pool.

Kids were not allowed to swim in their awesome pool with an awesome view while the kid's water play area was broken down.

Great hotel and location. Right across from Legoland.
