Comfort Inn Richmond2.5 out of 5.0

This place is a fine stop along the highway. Much better than the options that are at the next exit to the east, which are really ratty these days. Comfort Inn is well run ... particularly by the clerk Maria, who is kind and efficient. Yes, the place is getting a bit worn (e.g., carpets), but it is clean and pleasant.
Unbelievable interaction at this hotel. Arrived at 11:30 PM after a long day of travel and we were ready for bed. Got checked in easily enough and went up to our room. Upon opening the door, we were shocked to see the bed was unmade. Worried that someone might be in there, we headed back to the lobby to discuss it with the clerk. Apparently our room had not been cleaned, and there were no other rooms available for us to stay in. We asked if we could get our money back so we could go somewhere else, but he said the only option was for us to wait until he cleaned the room (not a certified house keeper). Seeing that this was our only option, we waited in the lobby. Finally, after an hour (12:30 AM) he came back and told us we received an upgrade for a suite. This was a nice enough gesture on the surface, but even after speaking with the supervisor, we were not able to get compensation for our troubles. We understand that we received an upgrade, but it was not something we asked for. You would think having reserved the hotel online would ensure we got our room in a timely manner. Moral of the story, call before you get there to see if your room is ready for your arrival!
This hotel is directly off the Interstate exit, yet it is situated off the highway and road noise is negligible. The facility has a comfortable feeling about it. Check in was easy, The room was clean and spacious. The hotel offers an indoor pool and a well-appointed fitness room. A big plus is that there is a restaurant directly adjacent to the hotel (no getting back in the car to look for dinner after driving all day). A hot breakfast was provided with a good selection of hot and cold food. The staff, with the exception of a preoccupied checkout clerk, was friendly and helpful. A good value for the money spent.
Nice clean hotel. A good find on a trip home from vacation.and a place to relax. Breakfast was hot or cold and the girl handling the food area was good. Only thing was the person on the front desk checking out was not really attentive. Seemed like we were bothering her. Minor note.
This moderately priced motel was a real find. Newly renovated...or at least it looks like it...nicely furnished and immaculate. Kudos to the housekeeping staff...place is well maintained. Don't be fooled by the outside looking a bit tired...inside is great, as is the breakfast. We didn't use the pool or exercise room, but they also looked good. Pleasant staff...Highly recommended.
Traveling through to West Virginia and needed a place to stay for night. Hotel easy to find off Interstate. I think Haley was the person working at desk. Everyone very friendly and helpful. Room good and breakfast was good.
Nice quiet room, good breakfast, friendly & helpful staff (desk clerk looked up directions to a local college and printed it out for me, then gave me her additional directions). Rather firm bed but comfy. Quiet stay and a very clean, well-maintained facility. Only complaint: a very strong smell of some sort of cleaner that permeated every place in the building.
Good stay. I really don't have any complaints. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The hot breakfast was good with plenty for everyone. Staff was quick to care for our needs. Would stay here again.
This location was everything my husband and I have come to rely on with the Choice Hotels chain. Beautifully maintained lobby and rooms. Rooms are clean comfortable and everything worked. Staff was friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast area and choices as well.
My wife and I have been staying in Comfort/Choice hotels for years. Most are decent, clean, friendly hotels. This one is probably the worst Choice hotel that we have ever visited. We made a reservation on line at the Choice website weeks ago, guaranteed the reservation, and provided our Choice Hotels membership info. We requested a quiet room away from the interstate. We had considered this particular hotel for years as it is a great stopping point on our regular trips from PA to Arkansas but they do not accept dogs. Normally we bring our dog but not this year. We found the hotel by using our GPS since the turns off the road are not marked with signs. We drove through a neighborhood, through the Bob Evans parking lot and then to the hotel. The paint on the outside of the building is in poor condition and that should have been a warning sign. Then when I went in to register, the woman behind the desk was not friendly at all: clue number two. Then she gave me a key for a room on the second floor and told me there is no elevator in the building: clue number three. We carried our bags to the room and found ourselves looking over the exit ramp off f I-70. I called the front desk to say that I had requested a quiet room and was told that I had the last room in the hotel and that they were sold out. The room was small and dark and we were tired, so we did not check out and look elsewhere. Mistake! We went back to our car to go to dinner and saw another car pull up and the driver went inside and registered and came back to his car. Sold out - Huh? When we returned to the room after dinner, we showered and either the water was very hard or the bathtub was slick. There as not rubber mat and the tub was slippery. Both of us slipped but did not fall in the shower. And then as suspected, we listened to trucks and loud cars all night outside out "quiet room's" window. We will never visit this hotel again and will file my displeasure with Choice Hotels customer service. Don't make the same mistakes that I did. Look elsewhere for lodging in Richmond
