ILE WE ENJOYED OUR STAY IN A COMFORTABLE HOME, OUR EXPERIENCE WITH HOLIDAY RENTALS WAS MOST UNSATISFACTORY. FOR SOMEONE IN THE HOSPITALITY BUSINESS THE LACK OF UNDERSTANDING, FLEXIBILITY, AND ACCOMMODATION, IN PROVIDING GUEST SATISFACTION WAS BEYOND OUR COMPREHENSIONS.
WE WERE LANDING IN PHOENIX AFTER A SIX HOUR FLIGHT AT NOON, WITH A 2-YEAR OLD. WE REQUESTED AN EARLY CHECK-IN FOR 3 PM, WITH JUST THE POSSIBLE USE OF ONE BEDROOM. WE WERE TOLD, THIS WOPULD NOT BE POSSIBLE, AS “COMPANY POLICY” DOES NOT ALLOW FOR ANY SUCH EXCEPTIONS.
WE ARRIVED A LITTLE AFTER 4 PM AND WERE MADE FAMILIAR WITH THE HOME BY A PERSON WHO SEEMED QUITE RUSHED TO GO TO ANOTHER HOME. IN HIS RUSH HE FORGOT TO TELL US THAT THE STOVE DID NOT WORK, UNLESS THERE WAS A POT ON THE BURNER. WE HAD TO CALL IN, AFTER OUR REPEATED UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS TO GET THE STOVE TO WORK. THE ATTENDING ELECTRICIAN POINTED OUT THAT A POT WAS NECESSARY ON THE BURNER FOR IT TO OPERATE!
THE DAILY HOUSEKEEPERS REFUSED TO WORK AN ADDITIONAL HOUR OR TWO, OVER THEIR DESIGNATED TWO HOURS, DESPITE AN OFFER OF PAYMENT FOR THE SAME. THIS WAS AN ATTITUDE AFTER SHE HAD BEEN TIPPED $80 FOR THREE OF HER 2-HOUR CLEANING SESSIONS. ONE MALE HOUSEKEEPER WALKED AWAY AFTER AN HOUR’S CLEANING, TOTALLY INADEQUATE FOR THE SIZE OF THE HOUSE. FORTUNATELY ANOTHER HOUSEKEEPER WAS SENT IMMEDIATELY WHEN WE COMPLAINED. WE ALSO APPRECIATED AN EARLY RESPONSE BY YOUR STAFF TO THE ABSENCE OF HOT WATER, ONE LATE AFTERNOON.
HOWEVER, THE LAST STRAW IN OUR DISAPPOINTMENT TOWARDS HOLIDAY RENTALS WAS ON THE DAY OF OUR DEPARTURE. ALL IN OUR PARTY, EXCEPT TWO ADULTS, MY YOUNGEST 30-YEAR OLD SON AND HIS GIRL FRIEND, HAD LEFT THE HOUSE BY 11 AM AS REQUIRED. TILL 11.20 AM MY SON HAD WAITED FOR ME TO ARRIVE FROM THE AIRPORT TO ORDER AN UBER FOR ALL OF US TO LEAVE.
WHILE WAITING FOR THE UBER ON SOME OUTDOOR FURNITURE, MY SON STEPPED INTO THE HOUSE FOR A TEMPOORARY RELIEF FROM THE HOT SUN OUSIDE. ONE OF YOUR STAFF, IN A MOST IMPOLITE MANNER ASKED HIM TO STEP OUT OF THE HOUSE INDICATING THAT IT WAS “COMPANY POLICY “ NOT TO ALLOW ANY GUEST ON THE PREMISES AFTER THE CHECK OUT - OUR UBER ARRIVED AT 11.30 AM WHEN WE WERE ALL GONE!
SUCH RUDENESS AND TOTAL ABSENCE OF ANY HUMANITY IN PRACTICING “COMPANY POLICY” MAKE ONE WONDER ABOUT YOUR STAFF AND COMPANY?
WE HAVE RENTED LUXURY VILLAS IN EUROPE AND THE CARIBBEAN, SOME MORE EXPENSIVE THAN CAMELBACK, BUT HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH STUBBORNNESS AND LACK OF UNDERSTANDING. A GOOD STAY FOR US GOT
