We never received any instructions on how to get into the property before arrival. We had to contact the owner for the access code as we sat in the driveway. The house is a nice house, but needs a ton of work. The kitchen appliances need replaced. No light in the refrigerator, and water filter needed replaced. The stovetop and oven were filthy - coated with grease and grime. There was no hot water in the kitchen at all. And the BUGS!!! Tiny bugs on the kitchen counters, the bathroom sink tops, the coffee table in the living room, the chairs in the front room. We tried to clean surfaces but nothing helped. The bedding was stained and had hairs on it. The owner was quick to respond, and took the sheets to her house to wash. She said she did not wash the comforters, shams, pillows, etc. after each stay. YUCK!!! We had to wait until 11 p.m. for her to bring the bedding back after she washed it in order to get some sleep after traveling hours that day. We tried all we could to salvage the stay, but voluntarily left after 2 nights. We were initially promised a full refund from the owner (booked through VRBO which did nothing to assist us with any issue, except pass us from one employee to the next via telephone so we could repeat the issues over and over - this is our vacation time!) but after she spoke to VRBO, she reneged on that promise, and would not refund the taxes or the service fees. She did refund about half of what we had paid. I believe the owner to be a nice person, but she has no idea how to prepare a home for renting. The bedding and towels were mismatched, some were stained, and there was only one washcloth in the house. A stopper was missing in the master bathroom sink. The screened in porch was so dirty it couldn’t be used. The kitchen couldn’t be used. An overall failure sorry to say.
