We booked a superior room and was sent to a standard room, luckily we checked with the reception which made a mistake. The hotel is relatively old and expensive for what is it worth. But the breakfast was decent and offered a good range of food ad fruits
I stayed here as part of a business trip, I was pleasantly surprised The room was nice, clean and comfortable. All of the staff I spoke to were really helpful and very polite. There was a good selection available for breakfast, the bread and pretzels were amazing. The hotel is very conveniently located, to the shops, railway and also my office. I would happily stay here again.
I don.t understand some critics I’ve seen here or on Facebook. Very clean, very nice, modern rooms, bath, a free bottle of water, possibility of making coffee or tea, super breakfast, very central in the city. You can go there walking around 8 minutes from the train station. Sebastian and Gal very nice ! Perfect, thank you, I will be back. MKU
Everything was fine except the heater did not work properly but the bed sheets were enough to keep you warm, the breakfast was very nice though, everything was fresh and the food was diversified, will come again :)
Stayed here for a couple of nights. It is a 10 minute walk from the station (straight down Bahnhofplatz and then turn right along Tiergartenweg which is a bridge that takes you over the zoo, the hotel is then across the road) and 10-15 minute walk from Marktplatz (turn right out of the hotel and keep straight on). Rooms are a reasonable size with very good TV(all main British channels plus many other international). WiFi is good. Shower is hot and fierce, the bathroom gets soaked. Breakfast is good. Evening meal is only ok with service a bit hit and miss. Portion sizes are large. Beds and pillows are soft but more pillows can be requested.
This was our second stay at the Leonardo. The rooms are very nice, the TV has numerous channels in English, the New York Times is placed outside your door in the morning, and the breakfast buffet is EXCELLENT. And its just a short walk from the train station, just across the street from the Vierordt Bad spa and the zoo, and a reasonable walk to historic city center. We will be back for a third stay. Very doubtful we could find a better hotel than the Leonardo for our needs. We joined their Advantage program to save 10%.
The hotel is easily found and at first it looks more like a block of flats. But it is quite nice once in. We really wanted room service but it seemed that it was not possible and we never understood why. So we came down for dinner at their bar as the hotel has nothing around it. It s not really a restaurant and the menu is limited but it was very good! So was the breakfast although German places rarely have croissants and Danish pastries. Just bread and not even a toaster but thatks their way. I cannot criticize. they have cold meats and cheeses which is the norm in Germany
Leonardo Hotel rescued us after another hotel in the city let us down horribly at 1am in the morning (Hotel Am Karlstor was the offender if you're interested – see my review of that one), providing us with a badly needed family room. It was exactly what was required for a short overnight stay while on our travels; clean, tidy, comfortable with very helpful staff but would have been happy to stay for longer.
Fantastic, helpful and friendly staff greet you and wave goodbye each day which made the stay very pleasant. The bed was large and comfortable but I wasn't a huge fan of the extra tv chair by the window - a bit small for tall guy. There was a slight smell in the room as others have mentioned so I left the window open which solved that. The breakfast was pretty good - nice spread of warm and cold (smoked salmon and Black Forest ham) food but steer clear of the scrambled eggs - way too dry. The hotel has a miles and more points scheme which is also a bonus! The car park is not attached to the hotel and requires cash - not a huge issue but just be ready with some euro and get the card validated at reception for a cheaper rate.
A great place to stay if you are looking for something close to the city and close to the train station, the weekend rate suites the place but the midweek rate is far too high for the quality of service you get, I chose the comfort room and the room size was ok, the bedding, especially the comforter inner was fairly old n didnt smell great, you have to keep some water in the bathroom basin at all times to avoid/prevent abhorrent smell that came in through the basin(something to do with their drag system), other than that the room was clean and the staff is very friendly.
