Unfortunately this was the first place we've rented that we had to walk away from. Our observation is based on the two hours we stayed. Before arrival, we had to contact Jennifer for instructions, as none were automatically provided. She responded quickly with clear instructions and helpful photos.Upon arriving, we were disappointed to learn that we needed to wheel our luggage through the dirt and through the side and back yards toward the pool deck area. As we entered the pool deck, we could hear Jennifer and family carrying on a conversation and observed multiple cats loitering about. My kids asked why there was another family here.Soon after, Jennifer was walking around the pool deck and back yard talking on speakerphone. We lowered the shades for privacy and figured out what to do next. This was a little unsettling for a couple of reasons:1. We booked through Vrbo expecting privacy, not a surprise guest—aka the owner walking about the property. Had Jennifer been upfront, we would’ve never booked. Vrbo Support confirmed this was a clear policy violation.2. Had we known the pool deck doubled as a cat lounge, we would’ve booked elsewhere—especially since allergies weren’t part of the vacation plans.3. The backyard may offer privacy from the neighbors, but not from the owner, who seems to think they're part of the amenities. This property is nice, but the owner must be transparent so renters know what they’re in for—assuming Vrbo doesn’t remove it. Good Luck!
