Middlebury Inn

This is a classic charming hotel in the heart of Middlebury. I enjoyed my stay and look forward to returning soon.

This was my third visit in 30 years. Nice to see some things remain faithful to their principals.

The Inn looks beautiful from the outside, and it's located in a great part of town where you can walk to restaurants and shops. Hoever, the hotel itself is definitely dated. The furnishings looked tired, and it just seemed very old without being quaint.

They bumped us up to a bigger room which was real nice…only problem was that wifi wasn't working. When I called down to the desk the kid didn't know what to do and finally said (I'll let the manager know…tomorrow). I jokingly said I'd have to stay another night so that I can get online. My gripe: It was late at all… the manager could have been called to fix the wireless problem.

Charming New England inn. Helpful, friendly and accommodating staff. Convenient to shopping and Middlebury College.

The hotel was very clean, the staff was great. It is an older hotel, but with quiet charm. There was tea and biscuits. I went down to the spa for a massage. The spa was nice. I would recommend this Inn.

This is a historic site which means very old but lovely building. The room is spacious and cozy. The staff are very welcoming. The location is right in the heart of Middlebury - easy to get to restaurants, shops, transportation etc. However, the room's sound-proof is not very good given the age of the structure. One can hear traffic or next door noise easily. The floor is also squeaky when stepped on.

Everything was very nice. They also gave me an extra 10% off for AAA

Staff was friendly and accommodating. Room, though not luxurious, was clean and functional. Easy walking distance to all downtown shops and restaurants.

The Middlebury Inn is just about the only game in town if you want to be in downtown Middlebury. No doubt the location is fantastic and there is an overall New England colonial charm about the place. But I think much of the charm could be maintained, if not enhanced, by some updated bathrooms and a modern elevator.

The Middlebury Inn, on the green in Middlebury, is the best location for visitors to the town and Middlebury College. The Inn has a lot of charm, we we enjoyed the daily afternoon tea. Previously, I had stayed in the older part of the Inn and found it to be delightfully funky and comfortable. This time I was in the modern annex out back, which is essentially a series of motel rooms. The windows look out on a blank wall and let in little light. The room was spacious and comfortable, though the sofa was pretty flat. For the price, I had hoped for a little more atmosphere.

We were in the area for a family get-together and the location of this inn was perfect for our needs since it's right on route 7. It's a very short, pleasant walk to the shops and restaurants in downtown Middlebury. We've stayed at the inn before and have always enjoyed it. The staff is very welcoming, helpful and efficient. We usually stay in the main building, but this time chose to stay in the annex because we were coming back to our room late at night and didn't want to have to go through the main lobby. We were able to park our car right outside our door. Our room was very spacious and clean and the beds were comfortable. We also enjoy the afternoon tea!

WE had a late arrival and showed up at 1 AM. First they couldn't get the digital keys made, then it turned out the room was not made up! So they tried to make keys for other (less premium) rooms but couldn't get the digital keys made again. Finally took us to a motel quality room but it was occupied (imagine breaking into a room at 2:30 am!!!) Finally they asked us to LEAVE...that's right...it's 3 am and they asked us to leave. They offered to send us to the Marriott at a slightly more expensive rate.

wish there was a frig in the room we hiked on the AT at Mt Aberham amd Mt Ellen

We stayed at the Middlebury Inn while visiting family members nearby. We've stayed there before and have always enjoyed it. The staff was all very welcoming and friendly and they upgraded our room because we were staying over New Year's Eve! It was very spaceous and homey and reminded us of a classy guest bedroom in someone's house. I particularly liked the fact that there were extra pillows and blankets and two wonderful white bathrobes for our use! There was a lovely, yummy afternoon tea set up in the lobby when we arrived that we also enjoyed. We had the buffet breakfast the next morning, and it was very good-although some of the food could have been warmer. The wait staff was very helpful and attentive. The location of the Inn is perfect, right in the heart of Middlebury. We went for a nice walk around town after breakfast. All in all, it was a very positive experience. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to any other travelers.

I have stayed at the Hotel before so knew what to expect. The Hotel is older and the heating is a little irregular. It was clean and the employees at the Hotel were all very friendly and helpful. On the occasions that I ate at the hotel the food was good and the service very good.

We stay here each year on our annual visit to Vermont and Maine. It's location in the center of a beautiful town on the green means you can walk everywhere as well as have wonderul views at all times. It's great lobby and outside porch are wonderful ffor reading and relaxing.

Perfect location for visiting Middlebury College. Helpful staff.

THe hotel is centrally located and within walking distance of eateries in the main downtown square area. The staff was uniformly wonderful and very helpful. The hotel has been tastefully preserved and furnished with lovely antiques, and the afternoon "tea" was a welcome surprise. The disappointing part was that the room itself was very poorly cleaned, particularly the bathroom. Grime in the corners, "hair" (!) on the floor, and when the jets on the jacuzzi tub were turned on, unspeakably disgusting clumps of matter poured into the tub. It was really nasty.

quiet, polite. we were there on a college tour and the hotel staff were efficient and very nice.

Wow, what a nice review. We are a very walkable town and the Middlebury Inn is right in the thick of it. And you're correct, we all love Middlebury Bagel and Bakery.

where is the line between old style charm and just plain tired?
