The Betsy is definitely nice if you are looking for a bit of a retro feel while being on the northern quieter end of Ocean Drive (pedestrian only out front). That said, if a property is going to charge north of $1000 for a small room with a small balcony that faces the back, you have to provide certain basic things - regular stocking of bathroom supplies, proper cleanup of the room including properly making of the bed, general straightening (throwing out errant trash). Also, sinks need to be regularly snaked so they don't clog up, crooked toilet seat top. The front desk needs to be much more savvy of the hotel and answers at the ready. The concierge service was very inconsistent in recommendations (make sure to talk to Paul). While none of these are game changers and I realize this is the high season, this was a $650/night experience, not $1000 .

We loved the uniqueness of the property. The staff was wonderful and wanted to help always. I do believe there is a language barrier to English speakers unfortunately. I realize that doesn't make much sense but we weren't understood frequently when asking questions. We also had an issue with the lock on our door and we had to request service 3 times before anything was done. The restaurant has a wonderful menu and the food is 5 star. The hotel is a little difficult to find your way around when going to the rooftop pool area but once you get there it's a great area. This property is in a great area but you need your uber etc. to pick you up or drop off at the Starbucks on the corner as Ocean drive for several blocks is barricaded. Would I stay there again? Yes if the budget allows.

Clean and location

Our stay was unfortunately quite disappointing over all. For a new hotel and paying $500-600 per night and getting low quality scratchy towels is quite pathetic in my mind. Also, keep in mind that there is no straight way to walk from the front lobby to the back coffee bar, you have to take the elevator, walk through one floor to an other elevator to a different floor and back around again. It's quite frustrating as ubers/ lyfts don't really pick up at the front lobby considering the road is closed. So marching all of your luggage back and forth is quite a nusiance. How did The Betsy mess this up so badly. On top of that, one of their elevators wasn't working making it even harder to get around the hotel. Service is quite amazing actually until you need anything specific done. Unfortunately I have a medical condition where I require a microwave. It was a pain to get them to use the microwave every day, an easy task made incredibly hard, for no reason --keep in mind we contacted them about this many times before our arrival to make sure it would be okay to use their microwave. Now for the good stuff --Rooms are cute, small (which is normal around this area) but pretty and maintained with a subtle feeling of home. Bathrooms are tiny, the shower only has half a door so the water always flows out on to the floor (european style showers). Food and drinks in the hotel were excellent! Highly recommen getting drinks at the bar, much better than what you'll get in the surrounding area

Staff is polite and helpful.

Great location, nice bar area and rooftop pool is top notch. Elevators are slow but rooms and beds were super comfortable!

Clean, cute, and great location

Great style, cosy and warm . The library is a peaceful and timeless place to spend time in

I thoroughly enjoyed my short stay at The Betsy - South Beach. Hotel was c

Clean property and super friendly staff! We loved the jazz in the lobby and the drinks by the pool were great. We stayed in two different hotels while visiting South Beach and the Betsy was very classy and relaxing.

The property is beautiful and conveniently located. The front desk staff was outstanding and so was the valet parking staff. In saying this, I was very disappointed in the maid/room service. My stay was 3 nights. I arrived very early in the day on Monday, 10 Feb 2020 and was very pleased to get notified about about an hour that a room was available for me - Great Service. However, the next day my room was not cleaned until around 4pm, and on the 3rd day my room wasn’t cleaned until after I called the front desk and later went to the front desk and asked for service. With that, it was after 7pm before the room was cleaned. The bathroom had run out of shower gel after the first day and it was not replaced during my stay. Also, there were no amenities in the room, i.e lotion, mouthwash, etc. For a hotel that costs $320+ per night, plus resort fees, plus valet parking fees, plus crazy State, County, and local taxes that’s not asking too much.
