We just took a trip to Collinsville to visit relatives and stayed at the Dutch Inn. This hotel was once a nice place to stay. It has certainly deteriorated. It was not our first choice, but the best hotel in the area was booked so we ended up here. The room was not the best, but we were tired from our drive and didn't want to look for something else. Bad decision on our part. We sprayed the room down with Lysol and left our clothes in the suitcase. The floor was dirty, the room was musty and stale; and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. When we used the sink, the water was very slow to drain. When we took a shower, we ended up standing in six inches of water because the tub barely drained. We did not eat in the restaurant even though breakfast was provided. I did attempt to get coffee to go this morning before checking out. It was early and only one table was occupied. The server looked at me several times standing at the counter but never acknowledged me. I finally gave up and got coffee from the lobby. It was lukewarm, but at least we had a microwave in the room to heat it. I had to bang on the front desk and finally call out to get someone to the counter to check us out. I told my husband as we were leaving that I would sleep in the car rather than stay in this hotel again. This is the first review of any kind I have ever written for a hotel, and we have done quite a bit of traveling. If you have any other option, you would be wise to avoid this hotel.
I enjoyed my stay at the Quality Inn. We came down to see family and our daughter in law recommend this hotel. staff was nice. Manger was nice. Food was great. Housekeeping was wonderful. Would tell everyone to stay. Great price.
At first glance, this place wasn't so bad. We were here for son's 12U football tournament. The pillows were flat and very old. The floor was dirty such that when I walked across the floor in my socks, my socks were very dirty. The bathroom had mold and other "things"...still not sure what it was. On top of that they must be running an elderly sweat shop because the staff were very old and sickly. The lady that brought more towels and was the manager of the restaurant (she may have been the manager overall..I still can't figure that out.) could barely breathe. I actually felt bad for her until she opened her mouth and was extremely rude to multiple groups of people in the restaurant. The lady at the front desk when we checled in wad awesome though...However we didn't have a refrigerator or microwave in the room and was told we would have to pay extra for those...really? I have never had to pay extra for those items...In a nutshell, we won't stay here again unless there is absolutely no other rooms anywhere else in the area.
Nice property located right in the center of town, room was very clean and recently renovated. Hot breakfast included and they have a very good lunch buffet . Price is right. Good staff and strong internet.
We always stay here when we are in the Martinsville area for our yearly trips to the Martinsville Speedway (both NASCAR races and late model race) for the last 10+ years. The staff is always friendly and will go out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. I travel a lot on the east coast for business and this is ranked as one of our top places. Since our last stay in April, they have made many improvements to the rooms that were long over due. Breakfast is always wonderful. Keep up the great work and look forward to my next stay there next spring.
It started with our card keys not working. I had to make three trips to the front office. Limited access to ice. No machines someone at the front desk has to get it for you while you wait. There was a recliner in the room that was broken and the seat torn. The a/c unit was very noisey and did not work. I called Saturday to report it. We checked out on Monday it had still not been looked at. The fire alarm was laying on the bathroom sink. I had to take it to the front desk Maintenance did take care of it the next day. After all it is a fire code violation. The fake hardwood flooring is awful. There were other issues to many to mention. The only thing i have to say good about this place is the breakfast. It is excellant. The chef that makes the omeletts is awsome. Please don't stay here just for the breakfast. Stay some where else and come for the breakfast. This place would have received a poor rating if not for the breakfast.
Hardwood floor in room was a nice touch, but it was filthy - reflective of not having been washed in a long time. AC unit very noisy, and was replaced by an even noisier unit. Neither AC unit kept up to cooling needs. No fan in bathroom - humidity from showers in small bathroom filled room making it very uncomfortable through the day. King mattress was so hard - had to go out and purchase an air mattress in order to relieve back ache. Front desk staff very intimidating. Some of the cleaning staff seemed to go out of their way to make moving in the hallways a challenge by parking their cleaning carts directly in the path of guests on each day of a 5 day visit and then showing attitude when we had to move a cart to get by. Exterior hallways and stairwells were filthy and full of blowing leaves, cob webs, and grime. None of the ice machines in the main building worked, forcing guests to go across to a secondary building to get ice. Bushes planted along the walkways reeked of the smell of cat urine - smell caused by type of bush planted and not actual cats. The exterior of the building facing Virginia Ave looks very nice, however, behind that façade is a property that needs to continue a total makeover to bring it up to 21st century standards associated with the Choice Hotels brand. The free breakfast, especially the omelet bar and omelet chef on the weekend was the highlight of our stay.
Here for race. Mega over priced. Filthy. And just woke up to take shower and no SOAP to do so. Called desk. Oh sorry we are out of soap. WHAT?????? then take some of the $200 plus a night you are charing everyone and go buy some. Oh no. The mangers not here to do that. Ridiculous.
What an awful place to stay, price gouged because the race was in town, if I had any hours to drive legally I would have gone to a homeless shelter. The floor was nasty, looked like the toilet had been forgotten about for a week or so and the stench of stale cigarettes was gagging and was told this was the only room. Thanks quality inn for the worst over priced stay that I can honestly say I have ever had. And as a gentleman, I will refrain from what I really would like to say
The room was not cleaned very well, the entrance door stuck and was hard to close. Lot's of folks ruuning around with beer in their hands and shirts off. Not a family enviornment. Propert needs to be spruced up and renovated. It is a shadow of what it was some years back when it was the place to stay in Collinsville/Martinsville area..
