The resort is really big, was very busy and clean but the room is very small and smells very bad I think from the shower drain... is very close to the beach and local shops! In the end you get what you pay...
stayed here for 4 nights in october. when we arrived at 1.30am we were checked in quickly by a helpful guy on reception. we went to our room which was in the gobi building and i have to say although it was clean a shoebox is bigger, no room to move except walk round bed . hubby went back to reception and requested room change which we were able to get but cost another 80 euro. The hotel itself was fine and all the staff lovely. with it being end of season the hotel literally closed down around us, pool bar closed down and pools were closed and sunbeds removed although the weather still fine and still guests at hotel. Food was ok we never went hungry. Although we did have a pleasant stay i dont think i would return to this hotel as i found the area it was in very run down and i didnt feel overly safe.
Stayed for one week in sept what a horrible place full of drunks shouting screaming. Vomiting in public places gangs of young men /women staying. More like party hotel not recommended for families stayed in Rio block away from hotel what a dump complained was told nothing better unless we paid more food ate for 3 days there was very poor quality cold tasteless powdered scrambled egg in morning making me feel sick just thinking about the food we had to eat out from then on I would not recommend this place to anyone I cannot think why it has got some good feedbacks we have been taking holidays abroad for over 30 years and this hotel has got to be the Pitts. Improvements I can only recommend raising it to the ground
Staff nice and helpful, easy to communicate as they all speak English. Food ok, not a lot of meat choices though, but great for vegetarians I guess. Facilities poor, mini golf literally MINI, old fashioned tennis court, pool table, 4 swimming pools but only 2 opened (end of October, beautiful weather 25 degrees). Entertainment - have not seen any. We stayed at Rio Bay building - it was like a maze, very confusing narrow corridors. Room basic, ok, clean, with balcony facing the street. We did not feel safe there - our building was on the other side of the road and main reception (the only reception in whole complex). The entrance to our building was always opened, literally anyone could get in. Palma Bay Resort looks inviting on the map and photos, but this is very much misleading. In reality it doesn't present itself well.
I stayed at the Palma Bay Club resort from 9th - 19th September 2017. I read on trip advisor that there were 5 accommodation blocks in the hotel of varying standards. The most popular accommodation appeared to be the Copacabana & Havana buildings so I requested one of these in my booking notes. I did not get a room in the Copacabana or Havana buildings. On arrival late at the hotel, I was issued with keys to the Rio block. It was late at night when I finally found my room, and it was not a pleasant surprise. You had to leave the main hotel complex and cross a road to get to the Rio block. Imagine a 1960's grey communist block prison, looking like it was built from breeze blocks and then painted grey. Quite literally the worst room and block I have ever stayed in. No balcony even though my booking included one and a shower with a square drip tray less than a meter square with a 3/4 length shower curtain so the water dripped all over the bathroom. The next morning I went to reception and asked for a new room, I managed to change rooms on the second day. I ended up in one of the villas - this was the complete opposite to the Rio block - a new and well-appointed room, with a great bathroom and shower and comfortable living space inside the main complex and the balcony I had paid for! This room was great – there are maybe 10 villas; they are essentially just hotel rooms but clearly the newer ones in the hotel. The hotel is only advertised as a 3 star and therefore it's not fair to compare it to other better quality hotels in the area. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and this hotel was the only one in the area that had availability for the dates and duration I wanted. I knew this was not going to be 5* luxury. There were positives, the staff at reception, bar staff and cleaners were all very helpful and friendly in my experience and the hotel had a number of pools and restaurants. The food largely was pretty good, buffet style service the rice/ paella dishes were especially good in the Copacabana restaurant. The area was typically clean and tidy. My major complaint remains that for the same price you can experience such a huge diversity in the quality of your accommodation. This has to be addressed by the hotel and tour companies as to spend a week or more in the Rio block would lead you to consider hurling yourself out of the window onto the non-existent balcony. Another point worth mentioning is that the bars only serve “all inclusive” drinks till 11pm, after which, you have to pay extra for any drinks. I’m sure it’s mentioned in the booking system somewhere but not clearly highlighted so this was a surprise. Food – Pretty good Accommodation – Alarmingly varying in standard Location – Pretty close to the beach and central on the promenade. MP – 25/10/17.
We where in the villas on a positive note the rooms where very nice and clean ,also the site itself was well maintained clean and tidy, but cleaning equipment and cupboard was next to two of our three rooms and we were woken up daily at 7.30 by the cleaners pulling things around, talking and laughing . On the negative side the food was poor , cold and not much of a variety The hot drinks machine was Luke warm at best . Entertainment was no exsistant outside and only had entertainment in one of the bars across the road. The drinks where watered down and only one barman serving where at times there was a queue of 40 people and still only one server. Half way through our holiday 2 pools and seating area where close without notice , therefore the other pool with limited seating and sunbathing area was over filled and useless There was a board showing day time activities but we saw no sign of this or any of the animators asking people do do activities . Gym was crap , 4 machines , no free weights rubbish All in all a very disappointing holiday would not return and will be putting the same comments on trip advisor
We were supposed to stay in the Caribbean bay hotel but it was full so got moved to the Palma bay club. It's in a good location within 5 minutes of the beach and shops. Hotel is clean and modern and the rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels. Food is good but lack of choices. Would go again
We were a little worried when reading previous reviews. We booked last min due to monarch problems. We arrived very late and had 2 rooms in the habana building. On arrival we were concerned due to bad smells (fag smoke) and a very basic room. But after a plentiful breakfast where there was something for everyone (5 adults 3 chikdren aged 13, 9 & 3) we had a look around and had a great day by the top pool (there are 6). The entertainment was great by brother and sister who work their socks off all day and night. Kids loved the kids disco and adults archery and shooting. We found all the staff really lovely and they all worked so hard all day and night to keep the busy hotel going. Our rooms were VERY basic but cleaned daily. We didn't spend much time in the room so it was fine for what we needed. We were super lucky because in our habana block is the restaurant and evening entertainment so it was ideal for my mum who gets tired quickly. The pools were amazing and clean and the life guards very pleasant. My daughter hurt her foot and before we looked up for help the lady was there to clean her wound. My 3 yr old son also jumped in the pool with new arm bands where they come off when he hit the water. I was near to grab him but the life guard also came straight over to help and kept a super close eye on him after too which we noticed. There was always something to eat for all of us. They also have a snack bar which is nice too. The beach is 5 mins walk and its lovely. There's a red sight seeing train bus that's €4.50 each that you can get which was nice. Lots of shops sell similar things so have a wonder to get best prices and of course haggle with people selling stuff on the beach. We had a great time with great weather and nice staff who do a super job. We made the best of our holiday 😊
Hotel was clean and tidy, we stayed in the Rio building across the road from the main hotel. Food was ok and what you would expect from all inclusive ,m we certianly did not starve . Breakfast good choice of english breakfast or cereals and fruit , bread , cheese etc could do with more coffee machines as queues for those. We didnt have lunch as were out and baout during day, Evening meals were good , salads and some meat most night , spag bol, pasta and fish. Deserts ok too and lots of fruit . Bear on tap and soft drinks and wine. ( winde wasnt nice ! ) All inclusive drinks are a bit rough but you can buy premium drinks for a euro extra . Pools were busy but there is a smaller one at the very top which we used for the last hour of each day on our return from the beach. Overall ok hotel and for what we paid was worth the money. Area isnt the best , quite noisy and rough but again you get what you pay for and for us beach lovers we wernt in the hotel much anyway . The nobi building looked awful and very far away from hotel and heard lots of complaints about it when we were there . Staff on reception were helpful , sold us tickets for the aquarium told us which bus we needed and also organised our taxi for our return to the airport in the early hours .
Good value for your money. They need to do something if it rains as surfaces become slippery around the entrances. Food plentiful and good. Overall you get what you pay for. If you can afford an upgrade then do it as you will get a much better room. (€10 per person per night). Be ready to pay a deposit of €20 for the safe +€10 for its use. And to get a remote control for your TV a deposit of €10 as well which you will get back.
