My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night on our way to northern Spain. The location is excellent and in the center of a lot of things. It is walking distance to the Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol. It is two blocks from Madrid's hop-on, hop-off bus and the metro and bus stations are incredibly close so it is easy to make your way around the city. The room was a nice size for a European hotel. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. We would absolutely stay there again.

PROS: I've stayed in the hotel for two days with my 20 years old daughter before dropping her to Salamanca for summer school. We both enjoyed the hotel. The location of the hotel was perfect, room was good enough and hotel staff in the reception was very kind and helpful. CONS: We would expect a coffee & tea facility in the room in such a hotel. There is no kettle or coffee machine in the room. The hotel has to consider to supply this facility.

Great staff, awesome location, modern comfortable. Beds are hard but slept well. Room was small but there was enough room. Close to Sol metro. Walking distance to shopping precincts. Highly recommend.

Vanilla style hotel. Basic accommodation, no frills but good location. Not much soundproofing- lots of furniture scraping can be heard from above. Nice buffet breakfast if you can get it included in room price. Location is excellent for Central Madrid though.

Pros: We were staying for one day/night during a two week trip through Europe. The receptionist and front desk staff was very friendly and stores our bags as we arrived earlier than check in. This allowed us to rent bikes and enjoy the city. The room was much bigger than expected for the price we paid so that was nice. We stayed in a double twin room as I believe there were no other rooms available when we booked but it was still nice. Location was central and accessible. Cons: We were not informed of the key card insert to turn on the lights when we checked in and usually we could have figured this out but the device in the wall looked like a broken light switch instead of a key card light activation device. Wifi was pretty slow. The furniture (especially the bed) was a little low quality with sharp corners and located right where you walk Into the room. I hit my leg on it multiple times and so did my partner. The walls are pretty thin as well so hopefully you don't get noisy neighbors. Now the one thing that really bugged us... we asked them to call us a taxi to the airport as we had to leave really early in the morning and the front desk called a cab and confirmed it for us the night before. In the morning we got a call the cab was there and we went down. Somehow they had booked us an unmarked cab with no meter. As a foreign traveler we didn't feel comfortable with this but needed to get to the airport for our flight otherwise we would've declined the service. Upon arrival to the airport they told us a fare of €29 for a 15 minute commute and they did not accept credit cards. We had no euros left as we were leaving the country in a few hours. We had to go into the airport while one person stayed in the taxi with the driver and withdraw €40 with a $8 fee at least on top of that so needless to say this was beyond disappointing and uncomfortable.

You cant ask for a better location and still be away from the crowds. The reception staff were all wonderful in many ways but the room itself was a let down. The room was small and badly organised. The space could be utilised in a better way. The bed moved easily and the cooling did not work. The reception informed us that the cooling feature is usually turned off around this time of the year. One can understand if it is a budget hotel but not here. Luckily the the heat itself subsided in the next few days. Having said that the room is still decent and good enough if you are using it just to sleep while exploring central Madrid.

Very nice hotel located in the heart of Madrid. You can go almost everywhere (in the city centre) on foot! Very close to all museums (Prado, Thyssen Bornemisa, Reina Sofia), the Royal Palace (Palacio Real), all the famous Plazas (Mayor, del Sol, Santa Anna) and to all famous attractions (Flamenco stages, tapas bars). Average rooms, but yet very clean (rennovated bathroom), friendly service, sufficient breakfast and all these in a very honest price! Best value for money in Madrid!!!

We were in Madrid in April last year and for our return this year, we decided to go back to the Quatro Peurta del Sol. We weren't disappointed. There were 3 of us and last year we had a large corner room that another reviewer mentioned. This year we had a slightly smaller room which was fine for us. The room overlooked Calle Sevilla itself with the ongoing large scale hotel project across the road. Work started early on mid week days so there was a bit noise from that and the bus stops located in that street. Breakfast was more than adequate and we found the reception staff very helpful. We had problems with the arrival of tickets for that weekend's Real game but Arturo and Alphonso on Reception were more than helpful. All that said, the location makes this hotel. Bars, restaurants, Del Sol and other plazas and the Prado are all in reasonable walking distance.

Smack bang on the heart of city. Very couteous and friendly staff. Rooms were clean and tidy. Bathroom was a bit outdated, had a minor problem with the flush but nothing of a headache. Our UK appliances required a multiplug (adaptor) which the staff were happy to provide. Walking distance to all tourists attractions. Good eateries nearby. Comfortable beds to lie in. Good breakfast for extra €7. Highly recommended to all visiting Madrid.

This was my first hotel in this last tour I made to Europe, my end of March tour, will be reviewing hotels in Madrid, Paris and Venice. Location: Very good indeed, within a short walk to the Puerta del Sol square. This is the main reason to be in this hotel. Room: I arrived around 12:00 the receptionist tried to give me a room soon, around 12:45 I had a room. I enter the room, and it was tiny, tiny almost like hong kong standards! for Madrid, really? I had to make a call and ask him to give me a bigger room, more like the one I saw on the internet, the solution, to wait till 1:45 pm. I get the new room and is in the corner or so of the floor, a lottt better room, with space to move inside, even with a small corridor, with the two mirrors, with a good size bathroom, all good. (Try to get this room) Breakfast: The normal goods for a Spanish breakfast. The services: Honestly I was expecting more of this hotel as a 4 stars hotel. But maybe the part that dissapointed me more is that I wanted to leave a suitcase for some days (becuase the handle was broken) and they told me that they would charge me no matter if I left it one day or two. The next day I moved to another 4 stars, the Petit Palace hotel, oooother worldddd, take a look at my review. Will I come back? Don't think so, when you look for an hotel you look for much more than just location.
