The suite was clean and comfortable and the kitchenette and desk area and additionally seating gave us privacy - something you don't get in a regular room. The breakfast buffet and coffee are good, basic - just like the hotel. The staff was wonderful. Good for an extended stay and at a great price. They have a nice pool and laundry facilities and this makes it easy for extended visits.
Stayed in April and July and both were very poor! In April the night I was there the hotel had a flood and there was no water in the hotel, the air conditioner was so loud. In July the room was extremely dirty and the air conditioning was still loud. Would never stay at this hotel again. The company that runs this hotel does a horrible job!
I had never stayed in a Staybridge Suites property prior to this review. The hotel is very convenient to I-64 and to the Shelbyville Road commercial area. The suite itself was roomy and nice, the bed comfy. It featured a full sized fridge, and kitchenette with microwave and a dishwasher. The A/C was chilly and working on this hot summer day, but the fan was noisy and ran all the time. It could not be turned off. I liked the sectional sofa in the room. The bathrooms were dated, and the bathroom vanity was low, coming just above my knee, so I had to stoop over to reach the faucet. The shower had a live bug in it --a silverfish I think--which was a turnoff. The clock in the room did not work, so I requested another. It too did not work, so I had to request another which worked. I used a plate and glass and left the dirty dishes in the kitchen sink. When I returned to the room and the cleaned up, bed made room, the dirty dishes were still in the sink. I guess I don't understand what housekeeping is responsible for: I expected dirty dishes to be replaced with clean ones. The breakfast bar was pretty good, though when I arrived at about 7:30AM, the hot items were not well-stocked. The condiment lazy susan was close to empty for most items: nearly empty ketchup, salt, pepper, etc. The coffee ran out and I had to point this out. I needed to leave very early and called the front desk and was assured I could get coffee when I left. As it turned out, when I left, no coffee was made. I'm giving this place a 3 star rating. It really was an OK property, but has some work to due to be more competitive with other comparable facilities. The staff was very pleasant and nice.
We recently had a very nice stay at this hotel. Summary: LOCATION/SERVICE: The location for our purposes was very good. Right off the highway and in the direction we were heading. There was dining in the area, but looked like all would likely require a car for easier access. The service was very good. Nice/pleasant/efficient check in. ROOM: Large, clean and everything you could need. Good TV selection and free internet worked well. BREAKFAST: Breakfast was the fairly standard hotel breakfast now. Good and serves the purpose well. Had a very nice stay here and would easily stay here again if in Louisville.
The king bed was very comfortable and the separate living room/kitchen was great for the extra space. We were really looking forward to this stay as it was for 3 nights (our longest stay) of our 32 night cross country trip via motorcycle. However, our actual room was incredibly noisy! The refrigerator motor was loud and vibrated so the racks inside were rattling. We used a hot mat to wedge the racks tighter which helped but didn't eliminate the problem. But we did not get a single good night's sleep because of the rattling A/C . We told the manager but it didn't get looked at until the the last day and it still wasn't fixed. We told the manager again and she kindly discounted our stay but we left tired, which is never good when you have 5-6 hours of riding time ahead of you! The setup and location of the hotel is great so I still recommend it and will try to convince my husband to give it another try. But stay away from room # 305 unless you crank up the A/C and listen to it first!
This was a great place to stay for the Kentucky Derby. Very clean and staff was so accommodating and friendly. This location was close enough to Churchill Downs and yet close to other areas with shopping and restaurants.
The should have replaced the carts when they remodeled, they are very noisy The elevator is dirty and should have been redone as well We have had problems with this property in the past and decided to give it one more chance. They were remodeling the last time we were here and it was a pretty bad experience. The remodeling is finished and noticed some very good reviews plus the price was good. When we checked in here is what we noticed: We were told the upgrade we like to have was not available as long term residents had those rooms. The phone did not work in our room, called and maintenance came, they replaced the phone, I told him to be sure to let the front desk know it had to be replaced as I find they often think in hotels that we just do not know how to use something. I started to unpack and opened up the three drawers in the dressing area. All three had hair in them. I started looking around the bathroom area and none of the corners had been thoroughly cleaned. I looked into the kitchen cabinets and noticed they also had small food items on them. I took out the glasses and silverware and ran everything through the dishwasher. They never replaced the dishwasher soap. I called and asked if housekeeping could come down and they had all left so they sent maintenance again. He brought a towel and squirt bottle and did the best he could. I told him AGAIN to be sure to tell the front desk what he had found. In most hotels I would expect to get a phone call from the front desk or a manager after this. I did not hear back from anyone. I decided I would not bring it up again until I left. The sink area is very small...and ours did not have a drain.....I had to be very careful not to drop anything (earrings, necklace, bracelet, lipstick, mascara, etc. Why is that? I took a photo. Oh, when I went to write a note with the pen in the room it was broken...not a big deal but just another indication of what is happening here. The meal schedule for April was still on the refrigerator on May 1 and I took it to the front desk with a note. On May 2nd there was nothing on the refrigerator. Oh, there was no coffee or popcorn left in our room the day we checked in. Maintenance had to bring that as well. There was none the second day as well. Oh, the cabinet under the sink looks nasty, it may be clean but needs repainting. The evening social hours are the worst we have encountered at a Staybridge. It is like a ghost town in that room in the evening. By the way they are only Staybridge that does not serve wine. Business people have learned not to be there for the food that is set out. I have never seen such a deserted social hour. Not only was it below Staybridge standards they repeated it the second night (pulled pork on hamburger buns on Monday and sloppy joes on hamburger buns on Tuesday. The scalloped potatoes on Tuesday were actually good. The green salad leaves something to be desired (they only put a very small amount of salad dressing in a container at a time). The second night I got food poisening after eating. The only thing I had different from my husband was the salad, the ice and the salad dressing. I did not do the breakfast on the first day (went to the Derby) but I did have it on Wednesday morning and it was surprizingly good. Nice assortment of pastries, not so good fruit (cantelope and grapes). The sausage was better than average. The laundry room worked fine for me. The Fitness Center was hot and I had to open the door to let in some air in the morning. There was sanitizer but nothing to put it on, no paper towels or cloth towels. The tv in the breakfast room over the fireplace did not work properly. This should be fixed. I do not think they did a very good job with chosing furniture for the sofas and chairs in the breakfast room . Today when my bill was under the door there was a note that said "we want a 10", if there is anything wrong with your stay please let us know. I did take the note to the front desk as I was leaving and told them I would be writing up something. They are 54 of 95 hotels in the Louisville area and I see why. I have never seen an IHG with such a bad rating. It was Derby week and they were still not busy....... I am not usually this brutal with a review but thought this should be said.
I got a good price on Priceline, and was blown away by the size and newness of my room -- kitchenette, sitting area, desk, decent-sized bathroom. I had planned on getting a short term gym membership but the fitness room was so nice I didn't need to, and you can do laundry while you work out. I will stay here again!
We stopped for just a single night, and found this hotel a very pleasant surprise. We came in at the end of an apparently convivial social hour—wish we'd been a bit earlier! Our room was attractive and comfortable, with little extras such as a bag of microwave popcorn and tea bags, in addition to the expected coffee and fixings. Breakfast had decent scrambled eggs with good salsa available, waffles, and more. The coffee was good and abundant. The hotel has apparently been newly renovated, and it shows. The glass-doored gas fireplace in the lobby was an especially nice touch on a dreary day, and the hotel staff was friendly and competent. This was a very good value, and worth a return visit.
I could write a lengthy review about the dingy, dirty, dim and depressing conditions of this hotel, but management is already clearly aware that it is in dire need of remodeling, as a remodel is underway. Presumably, the remodel will do away with the stained floors, ceilings, and walls, the uncomfortable beds, the water damaged furniture, the non-working stove, and the lamp and hair dryer that repeatedly sparked and shorted out. Our stay was terrible, because the remodel is going on while guests are there. The entire reason for our stay was so that we would have somewhere to sleep while my husband worked the night shift at a local business for a few days. Sleep was impossible to come by though, as the hammers began pounding at 8:30 AM each morning and continued all day. We had no warning that this was going on before we booked, so do yourself a favor and call to confirm whether the renovations are complete before you do.
