Buyer Beware
What a horrible experience. Other than the beautiful surroundings this could have turned out to be a nightmare. 1st, the listing provided an inaccurate address in the complete opposite end of the terrenas mountains that took us to the entrance of a private property. It was a hassle to climb up and a complete nightmare to drive down from.
Once we were provided with the correct address, then we were told that the host was not expecting us, even when the host himself had already confirmed receipt of payments few days prior. We had to wait 5 hours to access the property. We were a group of two families stranded outside the property with nowhere else to go.
The kicker came when the host requested additional money (outside the app) to allow us to enter the property. He alleged that we had extra people even when the posting allowed for 12 people (were were a group of 5 adults and 4 kids). We had no other choice but the pay the guy who threatened to leave us outside if we didn’t.
On the last day of out stay, he pressured us I to leaving the property earlier than agreed, stating that he had other guests coming. He then stated that he could let us stay one more day at triple the cost of what VRBO listed.
Not sure how VRBO allows this type of host to continue to scam people trying to spend quality time with their families.
