Let's start with Mana Kai itself - there are very few (less than 4-5) higher end condo complexes in Kihei that are oceanfront / beachfront (by my book Royan Mauian, Kihei Surfide, and Mana Kai). Mana Kai is by far the best option out of all of them. Yes, the building was built in the mid 70's, but it has been very well maintained. Key benefits of Mana Kai - nice pool (pool at Surfside next door is tiny!), great location right in front of one of the best beaches in South Maui, on-site grocery / sundry store, on-site beach rental store (including SUP & Kayaks). Now for review of unit 815. This is a mostly remodeled unit - the main bedroom, living area, kitchen and bathroom have all be updated and they did a nice job - quality finishes & appliances, the bed is comfortable. The second bedroom / bathroom leave a lot to be desired - the bed is not comfortable at all, and that second bathroom hasn't been remodeled - it is clean and functional, but the sink countertop is VERY low. Why they did not remodel the whole unit baffles me. Overall the unit was clean, no deferred maintenance items. It was missing beach umbrella, which comes in very handy in South Maui.
