Good, but not great

Let's start with Mana Kai itself - there are very few (less than 4-5) higher end condo complexes in Kihei that are oceanfront / beachfront (by my book Royan Mauian, Kihei Surfide, and Mana Kai). Mana Kai is by far the best option out of all of them. Yes, the building was built in the mid 70's, but it has been very well maintained. Key benefits of Mana Kai - nice pool (pool at Surfside next door is tiny!), great location right in front of one of the best beaches in South Maui, on-site grocery / sundry store, on-site beach rental store (including SUP & Kayaks).Now for review of unit 815. This is a mostly remodeled unit - the main bedroom, living area, kitchen and bathroom have all be updated and they did a nice job - quality finishes & appliances, the bed is comfortable. The second bedroom / bathroom leave a lot to be desired - the bed is not comfortable at all, and that second bathroom hasn't been remodeled - it is clean and functional, but the sink countertop is VERY low. Why they did not remodel the whole unit baffles me. Overall the unit was clean, no deferred maintenance items. It was missing beach umbrella, which comes in very handy in South Maui.

February 2025 stay

Great stay in this condo. Have stayed at mana kai several times before, its a great location with views, great beach, gym, etc. Unit is a nicely renovated unit. Kitchen well stocked for cooking. Beds and furniture was comfortable. Only slight knock, TV was very small and not a smart TV (,so no streaming). Wasnt a big issue for us but could be for a family that wanted that.But overall I'd recommend this condo

Perfect!

This property was perfect! This visit was my families first trip to Hawaii! We were so pleased with the location; we could choose to explore Kihei or Wailea with only a short drive! The space was large and the views incredible. Also, the grassy lawn before the beach reduced the sand on the beach towels and stayed cool.

Nothing compares to the Mana Kai and this room is one of our favorites! It was immaculate. You can tell care was involved in furnishing it intentionally. Management was quick to respond to questions and kind. The beach hairs and extra towels were handy. The only drawback is that if you were staying with four people you might want extra closet space but since we had the place to ourselves (just my husband and I), there was more than enough space between the two rooms.

My family of 4 had a wonderful stay. The property was clean, quiet and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfy. Amazing proximity to the ocean. The pool was also great. We were able to rent body boards and 808 convenience store had plenty of drinks / food. Would definitely stay again.

We always stay at the Mana Kai because we love the location but almost always in different condos. This unit did not disappoint. It was very clean, had everything we needed in the kitchen and we cook nearly every meal, and out teenage daughters loved the twin beds. We would stay here again.

Overall good, disappointing that restaurant not in service. Condo feels a little warn, nice kitchen, big pull out cabinet feels like is going to fall out when used. Linens nice.

This is a great property in a great spot.

This is a fantastic spot for a vacation. We had a great time. The Room is beautiful and the view is amazing. Even the view from the second bedroom is really awesome. This particular unit gets extra points because the second bedroom has a great view and privacy. The rest of the units in this building the second bedroom window has foot traffic and can be blocked by the elevator/laundry area. The building is mostly very well kept. The laundry shares with the recycling/garbage chute so there were lots of roaches in there, not something we wanted near our laundry so we didn't make use of those facilities. The BBQ facilities are a bit of a headache as you have to reserve ahead of time. That's fine, but the front desk and the maintenance staff don't communicate that well. We and several other guests showed up to BBQ at 7PM one night, we had appointments, but the grills had already been shut down and cleaned for the night. That was a hassle, so do your cooking early. It's all very clean though and that's a big plus on Maui! There are a lot of roosters on property so if you like to sleep bring earplugs! If you are staying with another couple just be aware that there is zero privacy from the main bedroom to the kitchen area, Otherwise it's great and I would stay there again anytime. If you happen to be gluten free, most of the Gluten free options in Kihei are relatively close to this property. That said other than the cinnamon roll place, none of the gluten free options are that great, but there is a health foods store two blocks away with a lot of Gluten free items and the 808 general store/Deli down stairs had gluten free bread and some snacks. It's a very nice deli. The on property surf shop had better prices for rentals than the off property locations which was very convenient.

Overall, the space met our needs and it is actually even cuter in person. The patio had a great view and it was relaxing to have our coffee out there in the morning. Management was also very communicative via text. The negatives: The first room closest to the front door is a little dingy and its bathroom is very small. Our Wi-Fi was not working properly and there were many roaches in the building’s laundry room. I don’t think I’d stay here again because of that.

Amazing location, on an amazing beach!

The four of us (two parents and two early teens) had a fantastic stay in Maui. Remarkable views, fantastic location, and everything we needed within the home. Would recommend to friends and would stay again.
