For a Holiday Inn Express, it was average. The bed linens and bathroom were clean, but the hotel felt old and tired. Nice laundry for guests ($1.50 for wash and $150 for dryer, at the time of this writing). Conveniently located to Clay Terrace and easy access to 31 (which will get you to I-465). Very pleasant front desk staff.
Stayed Saturday night June 17th. Floors in lobby were dirty when checking in to room 103. Quiet room and comfortable bed. Found dirty sock and paper cup under bed. In the morning there were piss ants all over one of the night stands and centipedes on the floor in the bathroom. The desk chair seemed to be broken and the shower pressure was very low. Breakfast buffet was good. Detailed issues with front desk and they seemed to care and offered to give us bonus reward points. At $216 for the room we will probably try somewhere else next time.
Perhaps because it was Memorial Day Weekend AND the Indy 500 weekend that the price was so high. It was about $100 more than I expected. The room was nice, but average. The lobby is very comfy and welcoming. They have an EXCELLENT free breakfast: pancakes, scrambled eggs, Mexican omelets, sausage, gravy, biscuits, bacon, cinnamon rolls, bagels, muffins, cereal, coffee, juices, fruits! It was fantastic. We stayed on the 2nd floor, and there are 4 floors in the building. We did hear a lot of foot traffic above us during the night, which is no fault of the hotel. Again, I would have given it a higher rating if the price was more reasonable. They did have a washing machine on site, along with a fitness center & indoor pool. The room had a mini-fridge, microwave, and Keurig machine. PS -- looking at the prices AFTER our trip, they have dropped about $80. So looks like the high-traffic weekend did cause a big price increase.
We booked three rooms, but go only one. One of us, showed up at 10:00 pm, and was told that it will take two hours for manager to clean the room. The second person was told that they don’t have his room, and has call their central reservation. They found him a room in another hotel, but some distance away from the group. First day the breakfast was good, but the second day I was told that sorry we don’t have breakfast. Breakfast was included in the room rates. Also, the room cleaning service showed up around 6:00 pm. I believe they are having some serious management issues. Otherwise, it is just a basic hotel.
We stayed here for one night for a sporting event nearby. The location was convenient and right off the highway, and close to dining and grocery store. We had a 2 queen room and it was a nice size, the room and bathroom were pretty basic but included a mini-fridge and keurig and met all of our needs. We had no trouble with noise from either inside or outside the hotel. The free continental breakfast was good and the woman who ran it was very friendly and helpful. Great stay for the price.
The staff is courteous but there are some issues. Dirty sink, toilet and not to mention poor temperature control in my room. The door needs maintenance because it's difficult to open and close. Over all this is a spot to only book when necessary.
We spent 4 nights at this hotel for a business trip. The lobby was beautiful, and we were very impressed with the overall feel/look of the hotel. My favorite part, however, was actually the room! It may seem like a small detail, but I loved the paint color and the decor...it helped us feel more at home. The room had a mini fridge (a huge perk!), and was a convenient distance from a variety of restaurants. Breakfast in the morning was a typical continental breakfast, and left us feeling full and ready for the day. Overall, I would certainly recommend this hotel for anyone stopping through Indy for the evening or for a business trip.
upon arriving at the holiday inn express in carmel you walk into such a unique hotel with all the wood trim, I really liked it. You do not see that style in hotels anymore. The staff were so friendly and made me feel at home.
Day 2 of my stay. My bed was made, well kinda. My trash wasn't taken out in the bathroom or by the desk including the large brown paper bag next to it that came with my food from Panera, the floors weren't vacuumed & the towels weren't picked up in the bathroom. Pretty much nothing was done except the covers made to look like my bed with made. Housekeeping is clearly getting paid for a job they are not doing. The main floor really does smell badly of chlorine from the pool. You don't smell it on upper floors as long as you are off the elevator. Continental breakfast comes with check in. Their fitness room has 2 brand-new treadmills, & an elliptical machine & a bow flex. Although their new treadmills each has an individual TV screens that are not hooked up. I had to visit the front desk multiple times & there's never anyone there. So if you get there & no one's there just yell & they do come out quickly. You get what you pay for. Don't expect anything above 2 star & there are definitely improvements that could be made.
Most Holiday Inn Express' I have visited were quite enjoyable and pleasant, but not this one. The lobby is very nice but our room was subpar. It was worn looking and appeared to be redone but not very well. The TV was very small and kept darkening which became very annoying. The noise was terrible! We were in a handicap room and all I kept hearing were doors slamming. It continued and by about midnite I had to dress and go to the front desk to complain. The employee was very understanding but that didn't give me a good night's sleep. I had to leave the heater fan running all night and the bathroom fan and light were on all night to drown out the noise. The next morning the manager gave me a discount and was very pleasant, but again it didn't help my sleep. Never again!
