The place was run down and as soon as I walked in it smelled very bad of mildew, and and so did the linens. I got electrocuted when turning off the light between the beds. It needs to be renovated, which to their defense they where doing.

I needed a place to stay on my drive and this place fit the bill. I arrive late at night, so I had to wait a while for someone to come to the window and check me in. It wasn't a long wait, but it was cold and I was tired. The room was cold, heat was left off and it took a while to heat the room. There was no heat in the bathroom either, so the next morning showering was difficult (this was in January). The room was clean, although a bit rundown, and the bed was comfortable. Overall, not a bad place to stay for solo travelers, but I might not bring my family here.
If you are not trying to "keep up with Jones's" then this place is good for you. The staff is friendly, the room was straight out of the 70's (but it was clean), and if you like a view you cant beat it. The hotel overlooks Galax and Wow!!!!
I've stayed here twice in the last year. The breakfast is very basic but I didn't have the problems some have reported. It's an old hotel but the rooms were clean. My last one had a fridge and microwave. Check-in felt a bit inquisitorial (lengthy examination of driver's license) but the manager did his best to be friendly afterwards. The hotel is close to downtown, though a fairly steep climb; the view is quite nice. It's pretty good value for money.

Either they need new sheets or they should bleach the sheets they are using. There was a distinctive odor in the room, not nausiating but noticable. Realize there is a difference between 1 star and 4 star. This location bordered on 0 stars
I will never stay at the Knights Inn at Galax PA again!
This a great place to get away with family. The motel is in great location near shopping and restaurants. The staff is very friendly, room was very clean & quiet. The decor in the room was a little dated, but that added to the coziness. The complimentary breakfast (cereal & donuts) was an added bonus. We love coming to Galax, where the pace is slow, which helps us appreciate the simpler things in life.
Check-in was good. Lobby clean. Asked for no-smoking, but room reeked. Dirty-everywhere! Water pressure in shower good. Turned water on in sink to wash up, and it would not turn off. Had to listen to it all night. Breakfast? You've got to be kidding. THere was a bag of mini-powdered donuts on the table, no coffee, no juice, nothing. Nobody was in b-fast room. Lady finally came out, and I asked about the coffee. She said that she she only made it if someone asks for it because "most people don't drink coffee". I didn't expect much for the price, but this was terrible. Almost like they tried to be awful. The TV was nice, and the outside of the blg look very nice.
Stayed here over the weekend while visiting friends and family, great view of the town/valley from the rooms. Included wi-fi, cable tv, and a small breakfast. Only complaint is the bed was a little hard.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was probably circa 50's or 60's, but very quiet, clean. I've stayed at places in this price range, and this one by far the best. Beautiful view, went while the fall leaves were at their peak, could not ask for more spectacular view from up on a hill, overlooking the town. I'd definitely go back, close to restaurants, nature trail, antique stores.

The stay wasn't horrible. The hotel is very old and could use a makeover. The beds were really hard and uncomfortable. There were exposed wires from the AC/Heating unit. I would stay there again if I had to, but definetly won't be my first choice.
Went to Hillsville Antique and Gun Show. The hotel is on a hill with a good view just outdated. Regular bed, older tv, seemed clean. Prices were doubled because of the weekend show.
The hotel was very clean and great view of Galax and the mountain area. Room was spacious and nice, not to mention close to downtown. Only negative thing to say was that the pool was closed. Just because it says there is a pool, doesn't mean that there is water in it. Breakfast is nothing more than store bought doughnuts, but I had no issue with that. I'd stay again if in the area.
