We stayed at this place from December 23-25. Check in and check out was smooth. Its a good place with awesome front office staffs. Rekha, the receptionist went out of her way to help us out. She was kind and helpful. Breakfast was food. Overall the stay was good.
I arrived late around midnight. I had called in before hand to let them know I was coming late. I gentleman named Jake answered and was very understanding of my traffic issues and assured me there would be no problems with my late check in. Walking in the door it looks very modern. This part I must say is a bit misleading. Jake had checked me in and was making small talk while doing so. He seemed very genuine, asking what brought me out here (I was travelling from Georgia) and had actually been there himself and we got to exchanging stories about local areas. All in all a very pleasant check in experience which is doubly impressive by the late hour. I generally found most late night hotel staff are not the happiest. I went into my room and realized it was not quite as modern as the lobby would suggest. I would guess 70's or 80's as how long it's been around. But I actually thoroughly enjoyed this. It gave me a sense of nostalgia from when I stayed at hotels with my family as a boy, except for the flat screen of course. I was tired at this point but after a long drive I was dying for a shower. At this point I realized that my toiletries and towels didn't seem to be stocked. I called the front desk and Jake happily answered and apologized for the problem. Less than 5 minuets later I heard a small tap at the door and sure enough he was there arms laden with towels, soaps, and even a toothbrush and paste. Very prompt service at this hotel. I got my shower in a very good working shower. Nice and hot, good pressure. Then I finally laid my head down to sleep. The next morning I woke up and came out for breakfast. It was far better then I was expecting and far better then I've ever seen at a hotel at this price. As I walked in I was promptly greeted by a smiling woman who I assume was the manager. I believe her name was Samantha. I had my plate of sausages, eggs, a waffle and some OJ and enjoyed my meal. There was 4 or so tvs all with different channels on which was very nice to have a bit of variety. After my food I headed back to my room and enjoyed some R&R untill my time to leave arrived. When it was time to go I checked out with a young woman (Of whom's name is he only one that fully escapes me) who was also very pleasant and made my check out quick and hassle free. Some of the best staff I've seen. I will definitely be returning here if I find myself in Hershey again. So in summary 5 star service in a budget hotel Some of the best staff I've seen, Kudos to you Jake if you ever find yourself reading this. Great breakfast and completely free with your stay Will definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Hershey. Keep it up Red Lion. You guys are doing something right for sure!
We booked on line the afternoon we checked in. When we got there it wasn't the room we booked and they even said they didn't have any rooms available but after a few minutes, they found a room and were VERY helpful to get us a place to stay for the night. We got to our room, which again was not the room we booked but no big deal, and it was COLD. We tried to turn on the heat and cold air. We waited 20 minutes and even COLDER air. A call to the front desk Pete came up and tried to reset but to no avail. He said they would change our room, which, since they said at check in there weren't any rooms, I was slightly worried about. So, back to the front desk I went and the VERY helpful staff figured it out and found us a room. The story unfortunately doesn't end here though.... We get our stuff and move to the next room, again, not the room we booked on their web-site but, a room none the less. We go in and all looks great except it looks like they haven't vacuumed in the room and when we try to use the toilet, it doesn't flush. I'm not stupid so I lift the lid and see that the chain is just completely gone. That make me curious how they even cleaned the toilet the last time they apparently cleaned the room.... HMMMMM. So, called the front desk and asked for someone to come fix the issue. Again, Pete comes up and very politely apologizes for the issue and begins to spend well over an hour trying the analyze the problem, go for parts and tools and repair the problem. One thing to know is this, Pete is not the repair guy, he is the evening guest service guy but he did a great job and stepping up and doing what was needed. The next morning we went down for breakfast and, WOW, the place was clean and family friendly and the guest service staff were there greeting everyone as they were coming for breakfast and offering suggestions to things to do for the day. So, as the title says, the facility is slightly outdated and could use some updating but, WOW, the staff DEFINITELY made up for it. It was well wortht the money and by no means a bad place and again, with the great staff, it was a HUGE score and we give it an 4 STARS and we will definitely recommend to our friends and family. Thanks for reading.
A total of 24 people ranging from 67 to 9 months from Ohio and Maryland. Booked the rooms through booking.com. Was looking for a great value but still comfortable hotel. I was nervous because of some reviews on here, but ended up being extremely happy with our stay. Called Samantha to notify her of our circumstances and put in a couple of requests such as rooms close together. She not only obliged, but went above and beyond to offer more pillows, blankets and towels in each room. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was hot and the complimentary breakfast was abundant and delicious. The staff.......I can’t say enough about every one of them. Their customer service skills are exemplary. With our large group, we tended to take over the breakfast area during the day, and never once did they ask us to leave. To top it off, one of the staff offered us extra trash bags for our Christmas present exchange remains. However, we brought our own to be nice. If I am ever back in Hershey, I will stay here again. Kudos to Red Lion Inn for making our family gathering great.
Checking out today after 3 nights. The place is great for the money. Booked using priceline. Staffing is great, very friendly. Breakfast is included, maybe a few extra options will help. Sausage and eggs all 3 days.. Maybe adding sime hash browns, corned beef, potatoes... I liked that they always have the breakfast area available to you can buy food outside and eat it there. Microwave, cups, utensils are always available. The juice dispenser is always on, big plus as well. The rooms are good, clean with fridge. Located about 7 mins from Hershey park. Restaurants nearby and supermarket is close too. Will stay here again. Thank you guys..
I read all the bad reviews and was nervous but... was pleasantly surprised. Our room was clean- nothing fancy smaller bathroom... beds were comfortable pillows nice. My husband always checks the air filters before we ever turn on heat or AC they were clean! We stayed at higher end hotels and had to wash our filters because they were gross so...lol this was a big plus for him. Sure could use some updates... had a slight Oder..nothing that we haven’t had in most hotels rated 2-3 stars this was a upper 3 star in our opinion Breakfast in the AM was great- staff was kind and friendly! Is this a 5 star cookie on your pillow hotel - nope... but was this a comfortable nice stay for the price we paid (Groupon) very much so! Would definitely come back again.
We were coming to Hershey for the AACA flea market. I started looking at motels one month before the meet. Most motels were booked or had high rates. This motel had what I was looking for - average rates, breakfast and a good location. The motel has new management which showed at check-in. Rooms are nice but there could have been more towels. Also we had one bar of soap. Housekeeping needs improvement as there was clothing in the closet from a previous guest. Breakfast was very good - eggs, sausage, pancakes & waffles. My husband would have liked danish or donuts also. The pool had already been closed for the season.
I was there for the AACA Hershey Fall Meet. I made a last minute reservation. The room was clean and had all of the nice things available. Breakfast was hot and more than adequate. Very friendly staff!
Hotel is placed startegically in Hershey, Staff is very friendly. Rooms are old and the feeling is that they are not clean enought, bathroom needs an upgrade. overall feeling is that we paid too much and rooms are not clean enough.
For the price we paid to stay here one night ($187+ with tax), we were very disappointed. The room itself was just ok, not fancy. The beds were quite comfortable, but the pillows were old and flat. The bathroom was small and not clean. The shower curtain and wall had black mold spots; the tub and floor were covered in brown dirt (probably ground-in dirt that couldn't be cleaned) and there was no slip mat in the tub. The only reason this hotel gets a two instead of a one is the staff were very pleasant to deal with, and the breakfast was decent. I hope the new management can fix these problems, but in the meantime, I would definitely not choose this hotel again if there are any other options available. I've stayed in much nicer places all over the country for a lot less $$ per night.
