located just near the fort in city(perfect location),the hotel is clean and provides u great hospitality.

Excellent hotel of this class...newer property and kept extremely clean. Front desk staff is very friendly and welcoming.

I like to stay in this hotel , because it is not built in the inside urban city, it is looked like inside the peninsula, the area is more quiet, but it's not far from the walking street, you can eat and shop over there, very convenience.

Our room was large and comfortable with a balcony overlooking the street. It was also a very convenient location to explore Shamian Island and other areas like Ennning Road and Liwan Lake park.

Staff was nice. Room was nice. Location was nice. Would highly recommend it. Except the fact that the room was full of moskitos. I spent hours chasing them. Killed 16 of them. Finally I went to sleep just to be bitten in the night. I even manage to kill one in my sleep find it smashed on my sheet's. I should a have repellent. I would recommend to anyone who dont mind that.

Very good location in Shamian island. Some European charme in busy city.

The hotel is vary nice, hard to get out, with taxi's.

We arrived at the hotel 9 in the morning and they were so nice, we were able to get checked in right away without any extra costs to us. Room was a little small, but very clean. Buffet was great, especially for a fussy eater like me, there were plenty of choices. Staff spoke english, which was a surprise to us. Hotel was in a great location, walking distance to Pearl river and Shaman Park. There was a subway next door and a Starbucks around the corner and a Chinese bank across the road, which exchanges money. But if you want your money to be exchanged be prepared to wait 2 hours. The rate of exchange is good. We found the area to be safe and peaceful with so much going on in the park, it was amazing. We were close enough to the city to see the sites that we wanted to see. Taxis were available in this hotel and if one wasnt around hotel staff called one for us. We recommend a guide if you want to sightsee. If we come back to China again, this is where we will stay. Loved our stay in China and loved this hotel.

The hotel is in an excellent location, near to most of the historical sights, if not so convenient if you are here for a trade show. The main caveat I have regarding the old wing where I stayed (the west wing) is that all of the standard rooms face the elevated highway about 30 meters away, and since the hotel is only five stories, you will be looking directly at the cars. Unfortunately, the windows do not provide the best soundproofing. The rooms facing the quiet street on the island are executive suites. The buffet breakfast or brunch is fine, but the personnel in the business center were rather clueless. Check-in and check-out took longer than it should have. One more hint: for atmosphere, find the old back stairs, enter through the staff entrance next to the Starbucks. This seems to be the only interior item remaining after a gut rehab. The hotel itself was nice enough, but 5 star in China is not the same as 5 star in the US. Mind you, I wasn't looking for 5 star, had to stay there to complete adoption thru my agency. Just seems like the room should be big enough to be able to walk and have a suitcase open at the same time. The carpet was also dirty...major turn off. The staff was nice, the pool was beautiful, and there was a seperate spout for drinking water in the bathroom. All good things. The reason for the 2 stars was the mosquito infestation. We got in late on a Friday and when we woke up Saturday, my daughter was covered in mosquito bites. She had a terrible allergic reaction and became feverish and swollen around every bite. She's only 9 months old and her tiny hands had 13 bites on one alone. The staff offered to take me to a doctor, but all I really wanted was the mosquitos gone. They put a "mosquito pad" in our room. It didn't help. Several members of housekeeping finally came up with a mosquito racket and cans of Raid. They worked some magic and we were mosquito free for about 12 hours then it all started over again. We just kept killing as many as we could but still ended up covered in bites. On Tuesday, there were notices posted that they'd be spraying for mosquitos on Wednesday and Thursday. We checked out Thursday morning with fresh bites and were very glad to be going home.

Nice room I had, Pretty town. Not many people spoke good english but it's enought to get by. Historic town and very nice, Clean..

i will send this to you in a separate e-mail as soon as i send out this survey...note: the general manager STILL has not responded to my e-mail which i sent to him over 1 week ago! as i wrote, very unresponsive/unprofessional...

Alot of construction around the area, very noisey.. Hotel and restaurant employees are very nice, but they speak very little/no english.

this hotel is quiet and restful, it locate outside the busy traffic. Recommended to people need nice rest but not to night live lovers.

excellent service

It was a vacation get away and am glad I sayed here. There was nothing that I can think of that was missing. This trip was very different, the staff were outstanding and always readily available when needed.

This is the 3rd time we have stayed at Guangdong Victory Hotel. We initially booked a room in the East Wing but since we had stayed at the West Wing (Annex) twice before, we upgraded; (previously the Annex was less expensive than the East Wing high rise). We like the Annex (recently renovated) as it is has an intimate boutique feeling. The rooms are clean, and very spacious with a small sitting room. We also had free internet access with hotel laptop computer in our room. The only complaint would be low lighting and dusty streets (while we were there) due to work on building renovations and water line upgrade. Location is great-within walking distance to Metro Huangsha stop, Shangjiu Lu Pedestrian/ Shopping Street, to fish market and Qingping Market (dried herbs, mushrooms, plants, birds, turtles, etc.) We will stay at the Guangdong Victory Hotel next time we visit Guangzhou.
