Edelweiss Swiss Quality Hotel4.0 out of 5.0

We stayed at the hotel for a week, and went on daily hikes in the Engadin valley. The staff was helpful & friendly without exception, and management's regular chats during dinner (or at the welcome drink on Sunday) demonstrate the personal touch and commitment to ensure guests are served. The daily 4-course dinners in the Jugenstil room were excellent without exception, as was the breakfast buffet. This is a hotel with a history, but not outdated. The room in typical Swiss style was comfortable and cosy. Hotel Edelweiss sits in a perfect spot for walks in the Oberengadin valley - which we enjoyed every day - it's a great place to go back to in the evening. I thought hotels like this (classy yet personal) no longer existed - but they do! One (very) minor remark: the beds were good, but the very fluffy pillows were not so much to our taste.
We couldn't have been more pleased with the gracious hospitality and outstanding service. Excellent Breakfasts, our room had its own balcony with views to the mountains. We hope to return next year for a longer stay.
We stayed for four days at this very nice hotel. Sils is a little and quiete village, just few km before the more noisy and less beauty St Moritz. Everybody always tried to do their best to help us. From the owner to all the guys and ladies from the staff. Almost everybody speaks Italian and are more than happy to help you in this language. The spa is very nice, as well as the dinner in the great room. The breakfast is served from 7.00 till 10.30 so give everybody the chance to wake up early or relax in bed. I would really recommend this place.
Stayed here for 2 nights while doing a hike of the swiss alps (engadine trail) The room was very cozy and comfortable. I loved the town of Sils Maria, and the location of the hotel was perfect, as there are many restaurants within walking distance. What really made this trip so special is the staff members, ESPECIALLY the mangers in the dining area. They spoke perfect english, (which is always a plus) and there was a VERY kind gentleman who I believe was a manager who went out of his way to get me a vegan menu. Another manager, a lady, came over and chatted to us and made us feel very welcome. The spa is also very nice and relaxing- I highly recommend checking that out. Thank you so much, hotel Edelweiss for a very pleasant and much needed relaxing stay :)
We've been hiking in different parts of Switzerland for almost a month. Stayed two nights at Hotel Edelweiss, near the "Sils Posta" bus stop, which was not enough time to fully enjoy all this place has to offer, such as a wellness center (a "spa" for Americans) but we certainly did enjoy the breakfasts and dinners...gourmet and great service in their magnificent dining room: high ceilings and beautiful detailing. We spent five minutes quietly gawking at it like it was artwork. Our lamb dish was as good as we've had in Switz. The nightly salad bar was well stocked and the Engadine sheep cheese dressing was mild but tasty. The soups were excellent and hit the spot after six-hour hiking days. We were treated to free prosecco and snack chips when we returned from hiking around 6:30 on Sunday. The piano player (rotated monthly) was singing our songs from the 60's and the manager came over to chat, which she also did after dinner one night. Her attentiveness to guests is unusual in our experience. Her attitude is mirrored in all the staff, all of which were friendly and never stuffy. The atmosphere couldn't have been more welcoming as we came in from the rain. Our room was pretty large, with a refrigerator minibar and as many pillows as we wanted, including one sesame-seed filled and another heated-cherry-pit filled. We used a plug in the nightstand, but would have preferred an outlet next to the desk for charging our various electronic devices. However, in many hotels, we've needed to unplug a lamp to clear an outlet for our use. The green stone tile in the bathroom was lovely and the shower was especially good... even the towel bar worked as well as a heated floor. However, one of us objected to the shower's half door, which resulted in a flooded floor after each shower. We've found such swinging half doors in bathtub showers common in Switz., and usually result in a wet bathroom floor. We'd love to return to this fine four-star hotel, a rating it deserves.
My wife and I (non Europeans) did not stay in the hotel, we only went to the Hotel Edelweiss restaurant on a recent Monday night. We were staying in another Sils Maria hotel, but wanted to try the Edelweiss restaurant as Friedrich Nietzsche had eaten there over a hundred years ago. It was earlier, a bit after 18:00, so we were the first in the restaurant. Hotel guests were in a separate dining room. The waiter was extremely courteous and made us feel very much at home. We were given free (and delicious) appetizers, as the kitchen was busy with hotel guests as it was early. We ordered 2 different fish dishes, and both were extremely delicious! My wife had the trout, one of their specials, and this was heavenly -- especially the butter sauce. The chef even came out to greet us! We were also given a free sample platter of dessert options. Everything was excellent. This was the best meal we had in our few days in Sils Maria and best we have ever had in Switzerland hands down. The chocolate ice cream is to be savored. I have never written a Tripadvisor review before, but I am doing so now to just say how great our experience was. Sils Maria is already an extraordinarily beautiful place, and the Edelweiss restaurant made it that much better. It was a great and memorable dining experience, and if we even make it back to Sils Maria, we will go to the Edelweiss restaurant again.
The location is very beautiful. Staff is very professional, the room has been cleaned twice a day. The parking is for free; there is a spa with sauna, Jacuzzi and Turkish bath for free. You can ask for free entrance to swimming pool in the hotel « Schweizerhof, just in front. The food in the restaurant is good; there is a have-pension with 5 plates for the dinner. Most of the guests are seniors, who travel for tracking.
A charming hotel, with wonderful, friendly staff and outstanding meals. It was a great treat after hiking all day to freshen up and be treated like a queen at dinner. So close to beautiful views and easy to access public transport. Will absolutely stay here again.
We keep on coming back to the friendly and relaxing Edelweiss. Luxury without being posh. Attentive personel. Very good facilities. You really feel a Guest. wednesday wine tasting course is allways a bonus. Every morning opening the curtains to an breathtaking mountainview. Breakfast buffet is rich. Diner in the jugendstil-saal every evening a crown on a beautifull day. Close to ski and langlauf tracks.
This was day 4 & 5 of our 5 day hike of the Engadine valley. The place was friendly and very comfortable. The dinners were marvelous. The chef even gave us his secret recipe for barley soup, translated in english!
