My wife and I had a flat tire over near the Publix Shopping Center this afternoon and Joseph from the golf maintenance department spent his entire lunch break helping us change our tire. He certainly didn't have to. Yet he was friendly and polite. He enquired whether we were staying on San Destin property and asked how our stay had went thus far. Needless to say I'm very impressed with the quality of people employed by Sandestin. We will definitely be returning.
This was our first stay at this resort. It was me, my husband and our teenage daugter. Daughter and I enjoyed the spa and some of the treatments offered. Top notch! We did not leave the resort for the time we were there. We ate every meal there and just took in the beautiful views. The Sushi is excellent!!! The best sushi I've ever had. My daughter is a Sushi and Sashimi connoisseur. She had sushi every night. The service at the bar is wonderful. The bartenders were very friendly, professional and made wonderful dirty martinis. The breakfast staff, especially the host, leaves a little to be desired. My biggest issue was our balcony. I specifically requested a balcony without the concrete barrier. I was so disappointed when I walked in the room and there was a concrete balcony. The hotel was not full and I'm not sure why my request wasn't fulfilled. The chairs provided are too short see over the balcony. If you want to see the ocean views you have to stand. I mean the views are what you come for. I will proabably stay here again, but I will make sure I get a railing balcony no matter what it takes.
Beautiful place, stayed in Grand Complex 1 bedroom villa, it was very nice, easy walk to shops and restaurants. Golf courses are beautiful!! This was our yearly couples golf trip (4 couples). Everyone was very pleased. Our trip organizer Reginald Waller is the best, easy to work with and good communication. We will be going back there.
Unit 4418 was fairly nice. The unit does not rate higher because it leaves some things to be desired. The kitchen has limited storage and the second bathroom, which appears to be accessible intended, has no soap holder or bench in the shower. Although we were told we would have daily housekeeping services, the services were limited. Housekeeping also left a lot to be desired. Housekeeping services were very inconsistent and when they came they were incomplete in what they provided. Example: They did not come before 4:30 pm, when they came; they never swept the floors or Vacuum the carpet, on one occasion they had no wash clothes to leave and did not offer to bring some later. I had to call twice to get wash clothes and it was 10:30 pm before wash clothes were delivered. The linen did not get changed until I asked for it to be changed; they never cleaned the mirror in the entry bathroom; of the eight days we were there, only one woman actually cleaned the bathrooms. She came late in the afternoon, after I called the first time but had no linen to change the bed she said she would be back the next morning to vacuum and change the linen. I never saw her again. On Saturday, we ran out of toilet tissue in one bathroom and it was low in the second bathroom. When the tissue was delivered, it was just put no the bathroom counter. The kitchen trash was emptied but not the bathroom trash. They replaced the towels but did not leave one hand towel. On the day of our arrival, we were very hungry. We went to the restaurant Sunset Beach Cafe on the property. As I was sitting waiting for the food which we ordered, I saw the waiter bring 2 burgers from behind a partition. He sat them both on a counter in front of him. He then took an “ungloved hand” and lifter the top bun of one burger. As if that was not bad enough, he took both of his “ungloved hands“ and scooped up French fries and put some on each of the plates. As I was sitting there watching him and hoping that was not our food, he picked up both plates and come directly to our table. I immediately declined the food and said exactly why I would not accept the food. They offered to give us more fries but I didn’t want anything from there. If I could see that level of unsanitary practices, what happens that people don’t see? Some of these people need education on the proper use of gloves.
My company hosted our annual software users' conference at Sandestin in August 2019. From the beginning of the process with our Sales Manager, Nancy Wilkerson, we were impressed with the "well oiled machine" that is the Sandestin events team. Nancy made sure all of our concerns were addressed immediately and she took every opportunity to make sure our event was exactly what we wanted it to be. Our reservation coordinator, Julie Lewis, made sure that all of our attendees had rooms, even after we exceeded our guaranteed room block during the busy week before Labor Day. Our meeting planner, Matthew Daniels, took care of the many small detail requests that we had and made sure the day of each event flowed seamlessly. As a software company it was very important that our A/V set-up was perfect and the Sandestin A/V team, especially Ken Mealor and Zach McArdle, made sure we were taken care of. They were around all day in case we had any trouble. We also had an awesome service team throughout our meals who made sure there was always fresh coffee, water and food throughout. They also set-up an incredible beach dinner for 125 people. Thank you Michael Son and Quang Giang! We also hosted a small golf event at the Links Golf Course after the conference and the team at The Links was great! Nick Donato made sure all of our folks had transportation from the Grand to the golf course. Finally, the billing process with Sue Gan was easy. I can't say enough good things about our experience of hosting a group event with Sandestin. We will be back next year!
I had the distinct pleasure of spending time at this fantastic report. There are twenty restaurants and three golf courses on the property; you never need to leave. The shopping, tennis and abundant water sports can keep you busy for weeks. High standards of service and cleanliness demonstrate a well managed staff. I will be back.
We come every year and absolutely love it. The "mini apt" style, single King room gives us ample space to spread out and enjoy. The beds are super comfy with great quality linens and pillows. The kitchen is large and includes a mini washer/dryer. The living area has plenty of comfy chairs to spread out and watch TV. We love the great proximity to the fab restaurants, shopping and carousal at the Baytowne Wharf Village. We enjoy the VERY short drive to the beach where we are given up close parking to the boardwalk. In Season there is a mini bar right on the beach as well as a hot dog joint. Such a great place to play
At my mother’s encouragement, we decided to book a townhouse. We arrived at 11:30am and was told our room needed to be cleaned but it would be prioritized. After many calls to check the status, unfortunately our room is still not available at 7pm. They cannot provide an ETA. The staff pointed out there was no time for room availability. If you want a guarantee on a reasonable checkin time, this is not the place for your. I asked could I expect the room before 9pm — they said we hope so. At this point I am not sure of our recourse as we prepaid.
Sandestin has something for everyone! Golf, tennis, beach, marina, walking trails. We love the beach front rental properties and have stayed in the beautiful Westwinds building many times. The ability to ride the tram around the resort is a great help when you have several people with you. Baytowne Wharf has a great collection of restaurants, events and activities. Be sure and watch for their annual wine and beer festivals along with their weekly concerts, fireworks and other events throughout most of the season. Highly recommend for people of all ages!
Found that reservation was not what we expected, room smelled, bed was awful, Company did send us a voucher for a free visit, doubt that we will use it. Be careful if you book to get what you request, best to book through the resort
