Stayed in three hotels in Italy, I enjoyed this hotel the most. The staff is extremely friendly and helped with any reservations I needed including museums, restaurants, taxis. This is a great location. Next to a lot of great shopping too! There are stairs to get to the ground floor to the first. This was ok for me, however for my elderly mother who has knee issues, it was a bit noticeable that not as convenient if you have a disability. Decent breakfast selection.
The hotel is in an excellent location, smart area and civilised atmosphere. As I arrived I received a very nice welcome from the reception, I get a feeling they value their guests. A glass of prosecco is also a nice touch. My room was for very smart, the shower got very hot , almost too hot, would have done with a bit more heating in the room , but these were minor issues, if you are travelling as couples, I am sure you will get more comfortable, bigger, cosy rooms. The breakfast and the service was excellent. They were respectful and polite, and smiley, that's what you need in your short escape, lots of positivity. Thanks Roommate.
My wife and I had the opportunity for an upgrade to the Suite and were absolutely delighted we seized the chance! For comfort, convenience, limitless hospitality and historical charm this place cannot be beat!!! The staff of Nety, Silvia, Ted and Rollie were delightful, helpful, indulgent and charming as could possibly be. Our suite was very spacious and well laid out. Despite the obvious age of the building, everything was miraculously clean, with a custom elevator cleverly retrofitted to the existing structure. Location of the hotel is perfect, and right at the epicenter of "where it all happens" in this beautiful city. Transportation, shopping, dining, tours, it's all here and only a short walk away. This will be the only place I'll stay on future trips to Florence! Bravo, and thank you for a great experience!
What a great little gem in the heart of a bustling city. The hotel is seriously minutes away from everything you might want to see in Florence, which makes for a very enjoyable stay during the summer months. We could easily enjoy our delicious breakfast, then get to the sights within a few minutes, and come back for a rest and a quick rinse off and then back out again. The staff is extremely helpful offering up ideas on places to eat, visit, and where to shop.
We stayed here for a couple of nights during February. It's a great location and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and the bed was really comfortable. Add in the very nice buffet breakfast each morning and this hotel was a great all-rounder
We stayed here for 2 nights to get a quick look around Florence. On arrival we got asked if we would like to upgrade to the junior suite and we agreed. It was stunning. Great views over Florence, perfect location within walking distance of the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, Palazzo Pitti, the Academia and just about any other attraction you could think off. The staff are some of the best hotel staff we have ever met - extremely helpful and obliging and went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable. Breakfast there is great too. I would stay at Isabella (and any other room mate hotel) again in a heartbeat. A++++++++
Great hotel, great location and really spacious rooms Finally there is a hotel that has reasonable breakfast hours; 8-12 so could lie in as long as we wanted and still get breakfast. The staff were very helpful and very accommodating and made good recommendations about what to see and do in the local area. It is a short walk or taxi ride from the station and literally a 5 min walk for all the other major sites. My only negative comment is the wifi not being that strong and constantly dropping in and out no matter where you were in the hotel. I would still recommend this place and still give it an excellent rating
My wife, 2 year old daughter and I spent 2 nights at the Isabella and we can't recommend it enough. The staff were genuine, friendly and always helpful. The location is great for exploring the city and handy for popping back for relaxing breaks in the lounge. The room had a great quirky modern feel and most importantly the beds were super comfy with firm mattresses. Stay here for a great base to explore Florence. Highly recommended!!!
Room Mate Isabella is charmingly located amongst the cobblestone streets of Florence's high fashion District: my room overlooked Prada, Roberto Cavalli, Bulgari, and more. But even more important reasons to stay are that Isabella is a few blocks away beautiful canal views, world famous museums, near I'll Duomo, delicious restaurants, and the famous Porecellino market. If cost is a consideration, then Isabella is #Winning. Isabella was approximately $85/night for a room that is comparable to the Kimpton brand in the US: plush beds and pillows and uniquely decorated rooms. One thing to know about some (not all) European hotels is that elevators in historical buildings such as Isabella are relatively small and are gated. I find them charming but others may not. And the elevator began on the 2nd floor landing, i.e. You have to walk up 1.5flights of stairs to reach the elevator. It's not a hassle with luggage because their is a youthful, helpful bellboy who will walk your luggage up for you ( Tip Him!), but if you're not used to stairs, staying at Isabella will add steps to your activity tracker of choice. I needed the extra steps because they prepared me for walking around Florence which is very much a walking city. Continental breakfast is served in the living room in the morning; hot water is plentiful; wifi is free. Isabella's decor in public spaces suggests that it was once an apartment building which gives it a bit of a rooming house feel. And the staff was top notch. There may be more opulent hotels in Florence, but I'll always stay at Room Mate Isabella when I travel.
After touring Italy and staying in 6 different hotels this was our least favorite. I paid a little more for my husband and I to have a better room and instead I got a room that had a step. A step that you have to step down on to get into the bathroom. This could be dangerous especially at night unless you turn on the lights in the bathroom. The plug in the bathroom did not work even for a night light. Every other hotel we stayed in the bathroom plugs worked for the night light. The shower had a high step to get into it and the shower flooded the bathroom floor when you used it. The staff was not very friendly and their was a language barrier with most except for Rolly who was very friendly and helpful. We will not recommend this hotel to friends.
