We had a fantastic suite like no other I have ever seen. Every morning when I woke up and looked out the windows I grinned, and felt like I was immersed in the Assassin's Creed game - our view over the rooftops and to the towers, domes and steeples of the city was tremendous. The room itself was quite amazing and hard to describe (will try to upload photos later). Wonderful to look at the old architecture. Fitting rooms into this very old building has obviously been challenging as there are a few places (including in the shower) where you can easily bang your head into the roof beams etc., yet after the first cuss or two from doing this, it ends up adding to the charm of the building. Access may be challenging for anyone who is disabled. I'm sure the staff can clarify whether there is some other secret entrance for disabled people, but the entrance to the hotel greets you with a flight of maybe 20 stairs that have to be climbed to get to the floor where the elevator starts. (A porter will take care of your luggage - no need to be concerned about that). Fitting an elevator into an old building had to be tough, but they have managed to get an elevator in that is probably about 2 1/2 ft wide and maybe 4 to 5 ft long (quoted as suitable for 3 people - but that's probably 3 average Europeans, not 3 average Americans :-)). The elevator would take us part way, then we had an interesting narrow staircase to walk up to get to our room. I don't know how any furniture made it up there, and the windows in the rooms seemed to narrow for it to have come in that way :-) The above is meant only to point out that the need to climb stairs may be an issue for some people - for us it simply added to the charm, and the view from our room was well worth climbing a few stairs. The amenities are a nice touch, with effort having been made to stand out a bit from what other hotels provide. Breakfast was included, and included scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage on the hot side, plus the usual cold assortment of pastries, fruit, juices, cereal etc. Additionally, the coffee machine (including cappuccino, latte, etc.) is available (free) all day, for you to drink in the library / dining area, or take back to your room. The staff were exceptionally helpful. Given that the rooms don't have as many well-placed electrical outlets as a newly designed hotel might have, my wife asked them whether they perhaps had an extension cord that she could borrow. None was immediately available, but the next morning a brand new one arrived, clearly having been bought just to keep us happy. When we were discussing Wi-Fi with the staff, they whipped out some kind of cellular wireless router and gave it to us (no extra charge) so that wherever we went (including day trips to Venice etc.) we had free wireless access for our phones. Nice little touches like this simply showed the desire to go above and beyond to keep customers happy. If I return to Florence, I will DEFINTELY go back to Room Mate Isabella.
Visited the hotel with friends and family around Christmas. They had already booked there so I just made a follow-on reservation. I’ve been to Florence 100s of times and Room Mate Isabella definitely made this one of best visit. The property is perfectly located, super clean, and well furnished. The beds are super comfortable! The staff went above and beyond to help make our visit to Florence memorable. Oh and the breakfast! The breakfast is wonderful!! Highly recommend this property!
Room Mate Hotels are great - and Isabella doesnt dispappoint. I started my Italian trip at the stylish and modern Giulia in Milan and then moved on to the wonderfully old, quirky and interesting Isabella in Florence. A joy of a hotel right in the ventre of thr amazing Florence.
All we can say about this place is good things, will recomend this hotel and defenitly will stay again in the future. Very clean and amazing place to stay with very informed and polite staff. Thanks for making us feel at home
Fabulous breakfast & accommodations. Best location in Florence surrounded by all high-end shopping stores & steps away from the square. Staff were very accommodating & helpful with luggage. They offered to store luggage after we checked out in case we wanted to continue touring but we were on a schedule to take train out of Florence. For Americans who tend to travel w/multiple pieces of luggage - Florence is not bag friendly & keep in mind that elevators are quite small where only 1 piece may fit. Hotel is within walking distance to train station.
This hotel way exceeded expectations. We were offered a very cost effective room upgrade to a deluxe room, which was magnificent. Spacious, well furnished and overlooked the Palazzo Strozzi. A very comfortable bed and dark drapes made sleeping a delight. The room had a small fridge and tea making facilities. We were also offered free use of a pocket wifi device for the duration of our stay, giving us access to the internet whilst out and about. The room wifi was good for all our needs, including a couple of video phone calls. The staff were very warm and welcoming, with excellent English. Nothing was a trouble. Particular thanks to Saimir for his attentive and friendly service. Breakfast was a very generous affair. Fruit, cereal, yoghurt, pastries, rolls, ham, cheese and sopressa, eggs, bacon and sausages. Plus all the wonderful Italian coffee you can drink. A big thank you to Rolly, who looked after us so warmly and attentively. A wonderful host. The location is outstanding. It is easy to walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station - about 10 mins, with luggage. The hotel is also in easy walking distance to the major sights, and to the shopping areas. It is surrounded by great little places to eat. One day, we popped home in the middle of the day to drop shopping bags, and were given free coffees in the salon. Wow. We stayed 4 days and wished we had longer. Try it, based on our experience, you won’t be disappointed.
This aparthotel (a concept of which I'm really becoming a fan) is set right in the heart of Florence, over Gucci no less, and walking distance from the Ponte Vecchio. Lovely staff, reasonably priced and a really good breakfast.
My husband and I spent two night at Room Mate Isabella in mid-September. Upon arriving, we buzzed up to the hotel and the porter came down to assist us with our luggage. There is a full flight of stairs that you ascend to reach the lobby. The staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The woman checking us in informed us that she was upgrading us to their apartment room. What an upgrade it was!! We had the top floor apartment and it was absolutely incredible. Thank you Room Mate Isabella for our incredible room, we were in awe. The room was beautiful, the bed was extremely comfortable and had the highest quality linens of any of the rooms on our trip to Italy. It was spacious and very well appointed. It was truly lovely, I only wish we had more time to spend at Room Mate Isabella. Thank you again, wow!! Location: The location is fantastic. You are in the heart of Florence and within walking distance to anything and everything. It was wonderful to be able to pop back to the hotel so easily to drop off shopping bags or take a quick nap before dinner. Breakfast: The breakfast was delicious and it is served in a lovely dining and sitting area. They have a daily egg/breakfast dish and every breakfast food you could want. We asked for a made- to-order espresso each morning, as the coffee from their coffee machine was not good, but the made to order one was excellent, so no complaints there. This is a lovely hotel, in a fantastic location, with incredible staff. I would absolutely stay here again and we are even looking into staying at more Room Mate Isabella properties for our upcoming trip to Spain next year. It really made a very positive impression on us, I highly recommend this property.
The Isabella took us in when our reservation turned out to not have gone through at their sister property. Everyone was wonderful and friendly. One of the best hotel stays of our trip. Highly recommend.
This hotel is at a perfect location, making it extremely easy to walk to every important landmark. The staff was extremely helpful in providing us with a map and pointing out the must see places. They also helped us select several restaurants and all were extremely great selections. The breakfast was also good (cold cuts, pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, eggs, bacon, etc...). A special thanks to Silvia and Salmir for there excellent customer service.
