Nice comfortable hotel- very basic breakfast although there was spinach available with the scrambled eggs! One issue about the suite is that the door to the bathroom is glass (not see-through of course) but the light comes through so if you have a bathroom visit in the middle of the night and turn the light on your sleep partner might be disturbed. Why go to the expense of a glass door that’s not practical?
OK, at least the room was clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable, but it fell down in the details. First off, the rooms are configured long and narrow with a bedroom and sitting area. The TV is positioned close to the wall right at the divider and cannot be swiveled enough to be viewed very well from either area! The sofa in the sitting area was very uncomfortable. I'm of average height, but the bench is so deep that when sitting with my feet on the floor, there was a big gap between my back and the sofa's back cushion. This made it impossible to sit comfortably, and besides it was way too firm for comfort. The big disappointment was the breakfast, and if we'd known beforehand we would have gone to the Cracker Barrel next door. We try to eat a healthy diet, and there were no "adult" dry cereals offered; just Fruit Loops and other sugary fare. We've never touch biscuits and gravy in our lives, so the only other "hot" dish was some warm oatmeal. I went to sprinkle some brown sugar on the top, but it had turned to concrete. No fruit either, but at least they had bagels and yogurt. If we had been planning on more than one night, we'd have checked out and gone to the Hampton on the other side of the freeway.
My review will be a reflection of texting that took place with the Stuart, the General Manager. The hotel is focused on providing the best customer service. The will capture your phone and text inquiring about your stay. I stayed for 8 nights. Three items that may affect your stay - 1) the TV is analog with limited (terrible selection). I have been informed that it is part of the renovation, but the renovation is over 50% completed. Would you not want to complete it on each floor before continuing to the last room? I hated seeing the winter Olympics in a crappy TV. Stuart has apologized for his and improvements are coming.... not for me!! 2) the renovation is partial - see pictures attached. The window with leaks and duct tape. Terrible reminder of where I was staying when I opened my curtains. The furniture appear to be 'saved'. Mine had wear which diminished the new carpet and sofa. It appears the the renovation is being done poorly. The floor had what appeared as glue stains, the sink area granite stained---- all at least in my room - see pictures. 3) and probably the worst (along with the TV) is the heater. It is not new!!! Controlling the fan speed was impossible, the heat was inconsistent, blowing hot then cold. The bedroom area is small and the constant blowing of hot and cold air affect greatly my quality of sleep. I was anxious to leave the room in the morning. I had to reset the fuse at the plug in several times .... and I only knew how to do this since I had to call the front desk and they came to show me and told me that "it happens once in a while". My recommendation - wait till the renovation is completed. If you are stay frequently at Marriott properties, you'll notice how inferior this property is. I was disappointed at a Platinum Member.
This has the potential to be a nice hotel but we found it lacking in some details. The location is good; the front desk staff and housekeepers were very friendly and accommodating. Room layout and furnishings are modern and attractive with a comfy, fluffy bed. Breakfast was basic but adequate. Unfortunately, the remodel (still) in process makes for some areas that look tired or messy. We encountered paint-spattered contractors twice during our stay, intermittent hammering upstairs during the day, a kraft-paper-covered elevator floor, and am old carpet in the hallway rumpled to the point of being a trip hazard. Standing water on the bathroom floor necessitated a room change when maintenance couldn’t determine the origin—it might have simply been left behind by previous guests, but that doesn’t explain why it wasn’t mopped up by housekeeping before we checked in. We’d stay here again but not until the remodel is complete. That rework, along with extra attention to other little details (please make sure breakfast bananas are fresh, OJ isn’t diluted, and sausage pan isn’t empty) would make it much easier to choose this Springhill over other hotels in the area.
Nothing special (or nice) about this property. It is in desperate need of a facelift (paint, carpet, etc.) and is lacking in amenities. The mattress in our room was terrible! The small 'store' where you can purchase a limited selection of chips/candy and soda was downright sad. There are no soda machines on guestroom floors and only every other floor is graced with an ice machine. The video quality on our TV was sub-par along with a channel selection and doesn't compare with other hotels at this price point. Parking is plentiful but the back door of the hotel remains open all evening even though there is a sign indicating one needs a key. On the positive side, the staff is warm and accommodating. The common areas are spacious and well kept. Too many other choices for us to stay here again, though, which is a shame because the location is just what we were looking for in the Cincinnati area.
The room was ok. They seem to be doing good with daily cleaning. The sheets were clean, the tables were clean. What they seem to lack is the more in depth cleaning. The carpet had multiple stains on it. The window had a ton of fuzzy dust around where it closes. Looks like the outside air sneaks in from there and they basically have not cleaned the window frame on the inside in forever! The inside of the bathroom door was not clean either. There was a build up of dust on the bottom of the door. Shows that it hasn't been wiped down in a while. The MAJOR concern that took this down to two stars instead of just 3 is that none of the ground floor doors are locked at night. We came back to the hotel around 3 am and the door at the end of the hallway by the stairwell was not locked and just pulled right open. The door on the back of the hotel by the elevators was the same way. No key card required to open any exterior door. They have the scanners by them but none of them seem to be locked. So this was a let down.
The hotel was a good price and good location. Room was comfortable and mostly clean, despite a stain on the carpet in sitting area. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was free, but nothing to brag about. The coffee was good. Free parking, wifi and breakfast. Good value for the money.
the room was the best part, it was very very nice, but not great. property lacking in many areas. first off, a 'drifter' that pretended to be 'cleaning' the parking lots of all nearby business was the first thing we noticed upon arrival to the area. second, had to wait to check in because the person working the front desk, with no name tag on, was on the phone in the open doored 'back office' area. third, the ground floor back hallway exterior door AND the pool did not have functioning locks. this is very unsafe, hopefully they don't have a pool accident of a wondering child that could be easily avoided. forth, the fitness room water jug was completely empty, we like to drink plenty of water after travelling all day. fifth, i called the front desk but was basically hung up on after no answer to ask for a pillow, so instead i used the marriott app to request it, at 8:30pm - it never arrived. to which now i think only 1 person was actually working at the hotel at that time! sixth, the breakfast food area door was open in the evening, also making me question how safe and fresh the items would be in the morning, and i was correct, the breakfast was lacking. juices were not labeled. the 'eggs' were dry so was the sausage. i shared most of my feedback with two men who clearly worked there, but also were not wearing name tags. after a week on a road vacationing, this being our last night, ending on a rather sour note. oh seventh, the pillow on the room couch was rather worn and had a hole or two in it. won't be back. i suggest you stay somewhere else.
Stayed in the Springhill suites for 2 nights and all in all, everything was fine. The rooms were clean and tidy, with plenty of space for storage and relaxation etc. However, the bathroom is the weirdest set up out of any hotel I've ever seen. It's a sliding door (unlockable) and the wardrobe area is in the bathroom too. No privacy. Would definitely want that changing if I were to stay here again. Breakfast was very good. Altered over the two days but was always good quality and suited everyone. Hot coffee was available throughout the day and evening too! All the reception staff were extremely pleasant and welcoming. The hotel is located right next to the I-275 with plenty of eating places within walking distance and a Walmart across the road!
Stained carpet and walls. Bed with a dip in it. Awkward room layout with the closet in the bathroom. Bikers hanging around outside the hotel. Sounds of the freeway right outside the window. And a price tag way too high. Surprised it's part of the Marriott family. Will not stay here again.
