Lovely large room with separate living space. Fantastic location next to the John Hancock building just off of Michigan Avenue. It is close to public parking if you don't want to pay for valley device.
They let us check in early which was wonderful and location was great. The one downfall was no fans in bathroom and no mirror in living room in suite. Room was clean and comfortable.
In the shadow of the Hancock, well located to Water Tower Place, N Michigan Avenue. Convenient parking. We had a suite and a double which allowed us to have private family happy hour. Bedding and beds quite comfortable. Shower only (no tub) but excellent waterfall shower and hand spray. Older appointments, but the room was clean and tasteful. Fresh donuts in the lobby - quite good.(extra charge) Staff responsive and pleasant. Compared to Ritz Carlton, suite larger, much less expensive, more dated furnishing, and overall lower level of service. However, based on what we like, the Rafaello was an excellent match -- quiet, spacious, comfortable while not breaking the bank.
This has long been our favorite hotel, even before it changed its name (from Raphael to Raffaello). Cozy and friendly, now with scrumptious donuts for sale in the lobby. It is an easy walk to shopping and dining. On a warm day, one can walk the length of Michigan Ave, only a block away from the hotel. Highly recommended.
Overall this was a great place to stay - close to restaurants and shopping, however they came up short on a couple of issues. Check-in was delayed and they promised to text when the room was ready, which they did not do. The bellhops/doormen were extremely friendly, but the rest of the staff seemed disinterested in guests. There was a sign in the lobby when we arrived that the rooftop bar (Drumbar) was closed for a private event until 10pm. The rooftop bar was an amenity that we looked forward to utilizing on a great fall evening in Chicago. But, we were going to the Cubs playoff game so having it unavailable to us until 10pm was no problem and our plan was to go to the rooftop for a nightcap when we returned. When we returned at 11:30pm, we were told that the bar was closed for the private event for the remainder of the evening. We asked if the private event was being extended to 3 am (closing time) and we were told no guests would be allowed in the bar. Like I said - it could have been better.
Check-in was very easy. Suite was very spacious and quiet. Nice amenities. Beautiful rooftop bar with happy hour specials all the time. Only complaint is the size of the elevators.
Stayed here many times and it gets better every time. Love this place and a wonderful bar!
The location is great, but the room is not that comfortable. The carpet is so dirty, and the bed board was damaged, and the bathroom is not like a hotel at all, totally a TWO star hotel.
This hotel was a gem! Lots of Euopean travelers in our midst added to the Old World cosmipolitan feel. Hotel is small, but feels cozy rather than cramped. Only two elevators, which were small and stuffy, but that was our only negative. Staff extremely polite, helpful and efficient.
You hear everything from the halls into your room, front desk lady is rude, check in is to late, elevators could be serviced so the don't sound like there falling apart.
My family came up from Atlanta and it was fantastic. They lived the hotel and its amenities. Great location and great staff! We will certainly stay there again.
On the whole we would stay here again. There was attention to a few details that were missing but overall it was good. The shower design makes it impossible to not leave water all over the floor, two nights they did not re-stock the room with coffee and we had to call the front desk for a hairdryer. Pluses were the room itself and the bar on the 18th floor. Overall i would recommend it. Very good location.
Cannot say anything but good things...,you are pretty close to Excellent shopping locations, restaurants all over, close to the lake, easy street!
Pros:None Cons:Flea ridden couches, ceiling has water damage, stained floored, rooftop hangout is nothing special and overcrowded, location is way to far from the riverfront to be convenient if that's your goal, view is an ally or a building. Looks great in pictures horrible in reality.
Wonderful hotel. Lovely staff. Centrally located (for my needs). Nice old building.... although the elevators were a bit small and slow, but I'll just chalk that up as old building charm.
This little boutique hotel was perfect for a girl's trip to the windy city! Very close to everything, & within walking distance of great restaurants and Miracle Mile shopping. The staff was very accommodating in every way, even printing my boarding pass for my flight home. If you are looking for spacious and luxury, this is not it. But if you want a hotel that is friendly and warm, has a great bar, The Drumbar, with spectacular views, this is it! And don't forget the morning coffee and donut shop in the lobby!
The only thing I don't feel good is they don't have a speaker box that can fit iphone6. Except that everything is perfect.
Hotel was nice , elevator situation a little slow but overall we had a great stay! Location of hotel is great 1 block from Michigan ave and tons to do in walking distance! Must do the architectural boat tour best tour we did!! Willis Tower aka Sears tour was great as well but the wait was long ! Missed out on the museums it's a must for next visit!!
