Great hotel location, a block from Michigan Avenue. Quick, easy check in.

Boutique brownstone remodeled to today's standards - European feel and clientele in well-heeled Gold Coast neighborhood. Great for couples - Walking distance to theater, dining, Magnificent Mile Michigan Ave shopping and two blocks from cool breezes and Lake Michigan walking and bicycling trails. Rooms are comfortable with king beds and well appointed with wet bar and ante room with makeup mirror/table. Rainhead open showers really refreshing. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Alex the doorman is tops !

Convenient to The Magnificent Mile, shopping, and Pier activities.

Close to shopping and loop. Good, older property needs a little attention but very comfortable and clean.

Bathroom was horrible, way too small. No way to plug in hair dryer to do hair. No vent to dispute steam.

The location is an easy walk to many of the fun things to do in Chicago which is the main reason I booked this hotel. I've stayed here before but this time got a tiny room (king 706) that was quite disappointing. It was also so close to the elevator I could hear people coming and going at all hours. I always do a bedbug check when checking into a hotel and while I didn't find any evidence of bedbugs, there were hairs on the mattress cover under the sheets. Yuck. DrumBar is a nice place for a drink though it would be nice if they offered food options. The Hancock is right next door and a great place for a nightcap. I also highly recommend the architectural boat tour on the Chicago river. Not sure I'll stay here again after the room situation.

The hotel needs to add some type of breakfast option.

Hotel is not worth the money paid. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again!!

Pros: value, location, comfort, quietness, housekeeping, overall room size Cons, very slow and small elevators, old building showing its age, poor bathroom layout, bored appearing front staff

For a 4 star hotel I expected better. The hotel was in a very convenient location, and upon arrival, seemed clean. Later that night we realized the nightstand was weirdly sticky and one of the decorative pillows had strange white stains on it. The mattress was also not very soft and the shampoo was not very moisturizing. I do not usually complain about hotels, I'm usually happy with them. Unfortunately this is not the case here.

The carpets and furniture were old and the rooms smelled like an retirement home. There were cigarette burns in the carpet which was also dirty. On the brighter side the bed was comfortable and had a great donut bar.

I have stayed here in the past and the experience was nothing to brag about, but the location and price seemed right. That was the only thing until you get there. The place has some of the worst customer service that I have experienced with any hotel any where in this world. The most recent stay was my last and if you don't take this review seriously then please find out for yourself. The hotel cleaning service took our food from the fridge that we had saved and threw it out. When confronting the front desk they told us that someone would get in touch with us to compensate us in one form or another. Mind you this was after an interrogation of how the food got to the fridge and if I was sure that it was. Hmm I am pretty sure I know what we put in there and what we didn't and does this sort of claim happen a lot? I would have to say I don't ever recall hearing or having this happen to myself or anyone or any review I have ever heard from a hotel. Long story short, they never called, they could care less about me and could care less about this review. There are better options out there I suggest you try them over this place.

This is a very nice boutique hotel. Located just a couple of blocks off Michigan Avenue it is close to fine stores and restaurants. Yet it is amazingly quiet. The whole hotel staff is friendly, helpful and professional. Our room was large and comfortable , although the bathroom was on the small side. Have stayed before and will again.

Lovely large room with separate living space. Fantastic location next to the John Hancock building just off of Michigan Avenue. It is close to public parking if you don't want to pay for valley device.

They let us check in early which was wonderful and location was great. The one downfall was no fans in bathroom and no mirror in living room in suite. Room was clean and comfortable.

In the shadow of the Hancock, well located to Water Tower Place, N Michigan Avenue. Convenient parking. We had a suite and a double which allowed us to have private family happy hour. Bedding and beds quite comfortable. Shower only (no tub) but excellent waterfall shower and hand spray. Older appointments, but the room was clean and tasteful. Fresh donuts in the lobby - quite good.(extra charge) Staff responsive and pleasant. Compared to Ritz Carlton, suite larger, much less expensive, more dated furnishing, and overall lower level of service. However, based on what we like, the Rafaello was an excellent match -- quiet, spacious, comfortable while not breaking the bank.

This has long been our favorite hotel, even before it changed its name (from Raphael to Raffaello). Cozy and friendly, now with scrumptious donuts for sale in the lobby. It is an easy walk to shopping and dining. On a warm day, one can walk the length of Michigan Ave, only a block away from the hotel. Highly recommended.
