Hilton Garden Inn Charleston / Mt. Pleasant3.0 out of 5.0

We stayed here for five nights while visiting Charleston and loved that it was so easy to drive to downtown Charleston (less then 10 minutes). The rooms were spotless and all of the staff were very courteous. We are gold Hilton members, so our breakfast was free and it seemed that this breakfast was a step above most other Hilton Garden Inns. They also had fabulous cookies out by the free coffee every afternoon in the lobby. The location is also in a quiet neighborhood close to restaurants and a Whole Foods store. We would absolutely stay here again if we are ever in the Charleston area.
First of all a shout out to Graham Patterson, the clerk/concierge who was there most nights and mornings as well (does he ever get time off?). His generous advice and knowledge of the area made the stay worthwhile. Now, about the room. We needed a wheelchair accessible room. This room was spacious enough for a wheelchair to maneuver freely, with furniture and electrical outlets located for easy access. The bathroom had a roll-in shower with adjustable shower head and multiple grab bars and shower bench. Perfect! The toilet was the taller (17") ADA compliant toilet with good access. The bathroom door was at least 36 inches wide - probably wider! Excellent! Moreover, the room itself itself was nicely appointed with tasteful decor and well lit. WiFi was free for us as Hilton HHonors members, but it available for fee for others - a drawback for some. Likewise, breakfast was NOT included in the price - it was $12.95 extra. While it may have been very good (Graham did recommend it), you can do better in the area, such as at The Okra Grille. The hotel was, overall, neat, clean, well appointed and fresh looking. The personnel, all the personnel, were courteous, helpful and kind. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was good. We appreciated that. We thought the room rate was a bit high, but when we looked at comparable rooms in the Charleston area, we found this to be one of the best deals. We were there in high season (azaleas and magnolias in bloom!) and you are just going to pay a little more for a room during that time frame. The hotel location was very good, we thought. I was not in downtown Charleston, and, as such, required a trip across the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge into Charleston for touring historic downtown. That was not a problem except during rush hour when the bridge is "heavily trafficated" and very, very slow. However, it is on the good side if you want to visit Ft. Moultrie, the USS Yorktown, buy some locally made sweetgrass baskets from roadside vendors, or have breakfast at The Okra Grille. To be sure, staying in Mt. Pleasant will save you at least $100 a night over Charleston proper. And staying at the Hilton Garden Inn gets you a very nice hotel and Graham, too. We recommend it!
Nice, super clean, well designed hotel. Great location between Isle of Palms and downtown Charleston. Staff was super friendly and accommodating. Asked for many out of the norm requests and all were delivered. Will definitely stay here on next stay.
The hotel is very clean and the staff was super friendly and helpful with directions around Charleston. The room was super clean and modern, The beds were nice and comfortable too. I would highly recommend staying here.
We booked in for Charleston Race Week as a 4 member sailing team. great big outdoor pool deck. The staff are authentically friendly and helpful. The beds are ritzy and the rooms bright and well laid out. Location is pleasant with a 5 minute walk to Patriot's Point or a 5 minute drive to the city. The small friendly resto bar serves up great gumbo and fish tacos. They gave us adjoining rooms which was handy. The place was tidy and spotlessly clean Excellent experience all the way around. 2 thumbs up!
Everything from start to finish was great. We felt pampered and had all of our needs met graciously and completely. We would definitely come back and stay again. The food was delicious, the room well taken care of.
We visit Charleston every year to race in the annual sailing event Charleston Race Week. There were four of us, the hotel set us up with two double queen adjoining rooms. It was fantastic! We made use of many of the hotel amenities, The pool with a nice big comfy sheltered pool deck, the fitness room, hotel breakfast every morning and of course the free high sped internet. The staff however are what really give the character to this very new hotel. friendly faces in the morning and at late check in, very helpful too. Location is a ten its located in a little grove right within spitting distance to Patriots Point and quick access to get to the Ravenel Bridge, basically downtown in 10 minutes. The beds are off the chart great!
I arrived late In the evening after a flight that landed at 11pm. The girl working the desk was about as nice as possible. I wish. I had taken her name. (I was there Sunday April 23rd). The hotel is in a u shaped building. It looks like it was something else before it was a hotel. The room was pretty standard but very clean. The air conditioner worked well. The cooked to order breakfast was nice and the guy working the tables was very nice. The staff really make this rating higher.
Great place to stay and convenient to downtown as well as Patriot Point. Rooms were clean staff was friendly. Restaurant breakfast was only downside food was average at best.only served Starbucks's coffee which is not my favorite.
