Great hotel, great location and good transportation availability.
We tend to stay atbthisbhotel whenever visiting Budapest. It is near all the places we need to be close to on the Buda side of the city, and the subway can take us everywhere else. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Sometimes it may take a while for them to be able to help you because of the loads of tourists arriving by bus. The view is stunningly beautiful from the higher-up floors. Rooms can be a little too warm in the winter. Not many restaurants in the immediate vicinity, but there are a lot a few stops away using public transit.
Upon arrival, we were "upgraded" to a 15th floor (top floor) suite. Turns out it was over 85 degrees F in there with no working AC. We were offered a cheap desktop fan instead... could not sleep at all. They did absolutely nothing about it till the next day at 11am...because "the mechanics" were gone for the night and could fix the AC. I want my money back... this place was absolutely awful!!!
This hotel, built during the glory days of communism in Hungary, offer a great deal for your money. A view, especially from the upper floors (I was on the 13th floor). If you have the chance, ask for upper floors. The hotel is really less than 30 minutes from almost any place in the city even by public transport. A very friendly staff will help you when needed. The restaurant is nice, especially on Sundays when they have 50% off deals. The only thing that really bugged me was that the minibar's door would not close properly. Highly recommend this hotel!
I attended a presentation of a friends PHD, the hotel is cheep, room big and clean. I can no complain. The view is incredible you can see all Budapest, you can take amazing pictures
The hotel was decent. We were looking for a hotel that would provide us with a warm bed and the basics because we only planned to stay in it long enough to sleep. We loved the complementary breakfast and plan to stay there again.
On the whole, Hotel Budapest was adequate. The lobby is large and quite nice but the rooms were small and a little dingy. (The bathroom was spotless however.) It is not easy to find if you don't know your way around Budapest but it is fairly simply if you know the train and tram numbers and directions to go. Surrounded by beautiful hills with nice views, across from recreational park with tennis courts, etc. I have two complaints: 1) the staff was friendly enough but did not offer any help or ask if we needed any; 2)on the final day the front desk clerk gave us the wrong information about which train station to go to so we missed our scheduled train (and barely caught the next one).
