Host was very welcoming. Visiting from Raleigh, NC. Accommodations were perfect. We had total of eight (6 adults, 2 kids) guests for the weekend. Very cold outside and nicely warm inside. We skied at Winterplace about 35 mins away. Also had dinner over at the lodge which was reasonably priced and good quality. With cold and snow outside we were not able to use the porch area unfortunately. Overall great experience and would strongly recommend to others considering a visit..

Had a great Christmas gathering with family. The cabin was perfect in size. We had 6 adults and 4 kids with still room to spare and never felt crowded. The views from the cabin are gorgeous, wrap around porch lovely and Pipestem state park so close for a winter hike ! The owners are very attentive and were wonderful to interactive ! The only disappointment i had was the add for cabin had christmas decorations/ tree and there was not any.

Perfect Location!

We loved staying at Blackbear Cabin. It was the perfect size and location for our family cabin getaway. Super close to Pipestem, Bluestone, and Hinton. We were even able to drive a little further out to see the New River Gorge Bridge!

Wonderful cabin in the woods

My family and I loved this cabin. It was extremely well stocked (plenty of hand soap, toliet paper, etc) and was very clean The area was extremely quiet and we even saw deer! We will return to this rental!

Gorgeous winter getaway!!

This home was absolutely beautiful, nestled away in the Pipestem State Park. It snowed the entire weekend and the host was gracious to give us great directions and assistance if anyone got stuck. Would recommend for a group ski trip to Winterplace!

Family weekend

the cabin was much more than what we expected - in a good way. It is beautiful and sits in a beautiful park with a whole lot of amenities and things to do. We had a wonderful time and will come back!

We absolutely adored our time here at The Retreat! The location was amazing (seriously, couldn’t be better!) and we loved everything about our stay! Personally, I loved being able to cook upstairs and watch the firepit from porch upstairs while the boys hung out next to it. Tammy was also was fantastic. Responded quickly to our questions. It was just a perfect stay! Thank you again.

An amazing cabin in the woods

The property manager is one of the sweetest people I have ever met. She was always there and ready to help if we had an questions or issues. The cabin is beautiful and stocked for whatever you may need. Will definitely be booking again

Stay at the black bear lodge with family to celebrate my sons graduation from college. Very relaxing and provide adequate space for all. Close to several lookouts and college. Would stay here again

Bear Cabin Family Retreat

The log house was a Christmas present to my family for a long weekend winter vacation. To ski and snow tube and to play games and cook in the wonderful stocked kitchen. Loved the fire place and plenty of room for the 11 1/2 of us Our daughter is pregnant The bathrooms were stocked well too Great property any time of the year. Enjoyed hiking close by

The prefect place for a family Christmas retreat.

This cabin was very comfortable and cozy. Plenty of room for everyone. One of our grandchildren said: “I don’t want to leave, I like this cabin.” I think that says it all. We will be back again.

Family Fun!

This was our second time staying at this beautiful cabin for a family ski trip. Winterplace is a quick drive from the cabin. Kitchen is well stock for family meals at home versus eating out. Three levels are perfect for some quiet time or for hang out space for different age groups. The manager responded timely to all my wuestions about the cabin and activities in the area.
