NH Amsterdam Caransa4.0 out of 5.0

We are a group of four friends who chose to celebrate a 40th Birthday in Amsterdam. The NH Caransa has it all. To begin with it is only a 20 minute Uber ride from the airport. 35 Euros on the way to the hotel and 45 Euros back. The location was excellent. The hotel is situated in a square surrounded by bars, restaurants, fast food outlets and clubs. There is a tram stop just outside the hotel but it isn't needed as most things are walking distance. When we arrived (early) our rooms were ready and the rooms were big! As we were surrounded by Bars Clubs and restaurants it was a little noisy but we didn't mind as we were out each evening anyway. Our rooms looked over the square so there was always something to see. Rooms were cleaned each day and fresh towels made available. Breakfast was mainly continental but varied. Definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again.
Spent 3 nights at this hotel 13 - 16 February '18. Large, well furnished and clean room. Really welcoming staff. Excellent location which meant we only used the metro when we had our suitcases to negotiate. Rembrandt Square offers you everything you need in terms of places to eat. And the hotel was just 50 steps to the Three Sisters Irish Pub next door. I haven't visit an NH collection hotel before but would definitely return to this one.
Stayed here for 3 nights in February 2018 for a city break with the family (incl. 2 teenagers). The hotel is easy to get to from the airport (taxi ride about 25 minutes and €60, via train & tram about 50 minutes and €30, both for 4 persons). The tram even stops right outside the hotel. The hotel is in a central square which is lively in the evenings with bars, restaurants, and a night club...so it can be a little noisy at night. The rooms are well maintained, spacious, very modern....as is the rest of the hotel. The staff are very friendly and attentive. VERA (Duty Manager), many thanks for organising the special treat for my son's birthday, it was very kind of you and he really appreciate what you did. Within 15-30 minutes walk of the hotel is the Heineken Experience (15-20 mins to the south), Anne Franks House (15-20 mins to the North West), and the Centraal area (25-30 mins to the North). All easy to walk....and you get to see the wonderful canals and houses on the way. Great place to stay, would definitely go back for another city break.
Amazing views of Rembrandtplein (Rembrandt Square) and plenty of places to eat and drink nearby, I really loved the large windows that let in plenty of natural light. I didn't have a chance to try the breakfast but it looked lovely.
getting to the hotel from Amsterdam Centraal Station could not be easier as tramline 4 and 9 stop in front of the hotel. The check-in was simple and the staff member who served us was very friendly, we decided to upgrade to a Rembrandtplein facing room. The room itself was spacious with a great view, the bathroom was quite small. But, everything looked clean and well maintained. On the nightstand were some earplug, which came in handy as nighttime at Rembrandtplein is rather noisy. Finally, the hotel minbar and lobby mini-market are overpriced a small bag of crisps costs €3.50 - I would advise to go to the nearby Albert Heijn. Overal; great stay and nice staff!
A great perfectly located Hotel. Good Restaurants and bars all within a 2-3 minute walk. The rooms and bathroom, were very clean and the staff were all good and very helpful. WiFi available throughout the hotel. When we go again, I will however ask for a quieter room on the other side of the hotel. The noise on the street from the all night party goers could interrupt your sleep.
There's not a lot to say, everything was perfect. Except for the painfully slow elevator :) Breakfast was good, rooms were clean, staff was really nice and helpful ... would be my hotel of choice on my next trip to A'dam again.
First of all, the location is really convenient to the downtown area / red light which is why we chose NH Caransa. The first impression was terrible, we arrived after a 23-hour flights and layovers from Thailand and as we walked up to the counter we said hello and the receptionist just completely ignored us. I watched her and just started smiling - I just felt awkward, uncomfortable and unwanted. We waited for about 3min (not long) until had finished typing something on the computer then she said hello back. How about: "Welcome, I will be with you in a moment" The room was clean, the bathroom was small and uncomfortable, the view was of the roof next door and the ventilation system. The elevator is super slow so we usually took the stairs down which smelled like an ashtray. The sleep quality was really good so we were happy enough, however, the standard did not live up to the price. We are definitely coming back to Amsterdam but we will find another hotel to stay at.
We stayed here for two nights, it was quite basic. Room and bathroom was nice and very clean but just average. Main downfall was the loud noises all night outside. I know it can’t be helped but we didn’t get in until early hours and it was still noisy all night. The ear plugs provided helped a little but we wouldn’t stay here again because of this. Staff were friendly though.
Staying here tonight with my mum for a quick trip in Amsterdam. This hotel is in a great, lovely spot, fairly close to the main area of town with lots to eat, see & do around. Check in was quick & staff are lovely which is great. I was therefore going to give 5 stars but there are 2 things that let it down - we found a pair of socks left on the heater in the room. I find that really unhygienic and glad we found it before bed. Poor standards by the cleaning staff to have missed this. Secondly, I asked for a double bed & got 2 singles pushed together. Now I know this is standard practice but it would of been nice to have double bedding rather than 2 single sets. I would hate to be here with a partner and not even able to cuddle them!
