Their food is typical buffet fare on white beach Boracay, which is basically good food. Wide enough range for the price you pay for. Its a good enough cross section of pinoy food and some (passable) japanese food on the side. But their staffnis simply RUDE. They're so unexpectedly rude for Filipinos. I pride myself in being Filipino and I'd say the Pinoys make for the best hotel staff because we're more polite than most other asian ethnic groups (except for the japanese and thai). But these guys are the exception to the rule... RUDE STAFF.
They charge you before you start the buffet ..so that they you cant take the money back. Cold FOOD ..no taste at all. The lady wanted to charge you before hand and SHE WILL JUST CHARGE you if you hand your credit card. Even if later the food is cold ...not cooked well ..or not available..they don't care. They just want to make money by fooling you. WE HAD great buffer experiences at other places. This one was a disaster.
The lechon was undercooked and everything else was overcooked. If you want broccoli turned to an unrecognizable mush, sushi with mayonnaise, and questionable crab, go for it. The only thing that was decent was the cute crepes.
Super place. On the beach front with a semi-private beach. Great view from this vantage point. Outstanding service and food. Our favourite was Christina's on the beach front. The breakfast buffet is extensive. The property is large with three or maybe four swimming pools.
Its best amenity is the beachfront. Every single thing has charge in this hotel and warning signs are everywhere. It makes you feel that you have to be cautious. There is no free wifi if you are just an ordinary guest. It is also hard to sleep becasuse of the mosquitoes. Breakfast is good though. I organized a training here and I don't know why during lunch, participants still need food stub. I think the leftover from the conference is brought to the store for selling. The manila office was also not communicating properly with the people in Boracay. They gave me so much stress. Its OK but not impressive given its price.
After a long walk, we chanced upon this air coned restaurant serving buffet lunch. Price was reasonable enough for a satisfying meal. We enjoyed the roasted pig that no sauce is needed anymore. Grilled tuna is good too! But only Filipino sweets were served for desserts. I was disappointed though not to see a variety of cakes. Maybe next time it can be added to the buffet table.
The buffet is the worse I have ever had on this island or anywhere else. Let's start with the selection, initially it looked like there was a lot but once you actually go around there really isn't that much of a selection to choose from. The seafood bar did not look fresh at all, the prawns and crab looked like it's been sitting there for the whole day or some left over rejects. The oysters were half opened, is this how it is served here? Either way, it was not pleasant to eat. You would think that at least the service would be good. Well I dropped my fork and I left it on the plate for the the waiter to take away and replace which he knew it dropped. I waited till the end and it never arrived, but it was fine as I did not want to torture my taste buds any longer. The only thing that made me stay and made up for the downfall of the dining experience was the fire poi show.
My stay here was the single most horrifying experience of my life. There were so many things that went wrong, I do not even know where to begin. My friends and I were there for a frisbee tournament and required multiple rooms. Not only did the check in process take ages because they claimed to have no reserved rooms for us when in fact they had a folder JUST for us, but they didn't explain what rooms we had for what days. Since they rushed us through that process and didn't explain ANYTHING, I was bullied into paying a PHP2,500 late fee for a room that they forced us out of AFTER the check-out time. And the people they forced out of the room were my friends with a 6 month old baby! Not only did they tell us late, but they lied by saying they claimed to have called the room in the morning notifying the occupants they had to leave. How did I know this was a lie? Well, my friend and her baby were inside the room the entire morning and they received no such phone call. When I went in to explain this, I was receive with such terse and trite responses from the front desk girls... it was appalling. I have never had to deal with such unprofessional attitudes in a hotel before. Whenever asked if there was something we can do to adjust this misunderstanding, I was just given the unfriendly response "there is absolutely nothing we can do". One of the girls even had the nerve to laugh at me when I asked if she can write down exactly what she said had to be done in avoid paying further fees. They had absolutely no class! This discussion lasted throughout the entire weekend. They even admitted to being wrong but yet have not refunded the money to my credit card. They said they would notify me by the end of the week, but have heard no word from them at all. And after we checked out and were about to leave to catch our flight, we were cased down by a Paradise Garden employee who did not believe we checked out and continued to hold us repeating that we needed to go to front desk to drop off the keys, which we already did in the morning! We were forced to stand out in the heat, with a 6 month old baby, for nearly 15 min before we were allowed to leave. I have never in my LIFE been treated with such disrespect before. Staying at Paradise Garden completely ruined my time in Boracay. ALSO, we were told we got a special rate of PHP 3,500/night. But at the entrance there was a sign that said there was a special promotion for PHP 3000/night. WHen we asked about this, the front desk girls fumbled around for a bit and said it ended 2 months ago. The sign had no expiration date. #liars I will never stay there again and will continue to advise all friends who travel to Boracay to never go to Paradise Garden!!!!!
[review by my husband] Just experienced some truly appalling, and in my view, dishonest business practices at Paradise Garden Resort Hotel & Convention Centre in Boracay. People who know me know that I don't often complain about terrible service or give bad reviews but I simply can't stay silent on what I've just experienced. Last night upon arrival, I asked to upgrade from our 3500 peso per night room to a nicer room and was told the new room would be 5000 pesos. I signed a receipt indicating that I had agreed to an "upsell" of 5000 pesos. I took that to mean the room would be 5000 pesos per night. Found out today that "upsell" meant an additional 5000 pesos per night which is, for that room, frankly outrageous. Nothing in my conversation with their staff that night ever led me to form the impression that the room would be an additional 5000 pesos per night. I enlisted the help of Karen Cabrera but despite her best efforts there was little she could do. An experienced and well-respected hotelier on the island in her own right, she has never heard of the word "upsell" to mean an additional fee. Ultimately we were forced to pay 8500 pesos per night for two nights (they also charged us for tonight's stay since we did not resolve this issue with them prior to midday today) and 3500 pesos per night for the final two nights we're here (despite us indicating that we wouldn't be staying with them for the last two nights). We're now looking for alternative accommodation for our final two nights here. I'm very angry and disappointed with our experience here and I think to use a very unusual and arguably incorrect interpretation of the word "upsell" in order to justify your position is very low. I've visited Boracay for the past 5 years and certainly won't ever be booking here again. I would also very strongly discourage all of my ultimate-playing friends and any other friends visiting Boracay in the future from ever booking with this hotel. I would also be grateful if anyone reading this post would share it on your on Facebook walls to bring this shoddy behaviour to light and to prevent any of your friends from having the experience what we have gone through tonight. The hotel needs to have a proper protocol on welcoming guests or possible guest especially those who are coming from the beach side. Also, the administration should have their personnels including the security guards undergo proper training on how to deal with guest. Foods also must be updated. The good thing about this hotel is their bar in the beach side where all bar tenders are friendly and polite esp. Mark.
